Re: Problem with VMWare fusion on Mavericks

2013-11-09 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello Esther,
You are a marvel! Many thanks for the attached. I tried your suggestion of
setting the fusion network adapter to automatic and that fixed my problem of
fusion 5 on Mavericks not connecting to the Internet.
My Windows 7 virtual machine takes a long time to boot up but then it works
reasonably fast. As I seldom use Windows I will not upgrade to fusion 6 at this
time.
So many many thanks for the attached and also for your help to access "mouse
over" items on the sing Chandlers Ford web site.
Best regards

Paul Hopewell

Re: Problem with VMWare fusion on Mavericks

2013-11-07 Thread Esther
Hello Paul,

A search of the Apple Discussion forums brought up the suggestion that you
change the network adapter settings from "Share with my Mac" to "Autodetect".
Apparently this solves the network connection issues under VMWare 5.03 running
under Mavericks for many people. However, there are also reports that some VM
systems are running with higher CPU usage and fans coming on compared to the
same systems running under version 6. These reports seem to vary, so just
monitor your own performance specs for your Mac.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

2013-11-07 Thread Chris H
I would say upgrade to Fusion 6 as perhaps the network infrastructure
has changed in Mavericks.

I know that discussion of Windows is off topic but has anyone successfully
accessed the Internet via Windows via fusion 5 on Mavericks? I wonder if I need
to change some Mac or fusion setting or maybe upgrade to fusion6?

Many thanks.
