Re: Switching between message format alternatives in Apple Mail -- very useful!
Hi Victor, when I press CMD + Option + right or left bracket nothing happens. Do you mean the left or right bracket what I can reach by pressing Shift + 9 or 0 on an english keyboard? Re: a list of accessible apps?
Hello Johnny, Perhaps I am a coward, but I almost always try to do website registrations on my Mac or PC instead of on my iPhone. I still find data entry via the iPhone slow, unreliable and cumbersome. This is not the fault of the Accessibility team at Apple; I am perhaps just somewhat uncoordinated. :) Good luck with the site, Johnny, Mike On 10,Jan,2012, at 2:32 AM, Johnny Angel! wrote: Hi again Mike, Thanks for these links for the list. I am familiar with both programs. Bible Gateway does indeed work well on both the Mac and Windows platforms. Mac Sword however is another thing. The program is now called Eloquent. As of a couple of months ago, it was not easly accessible with VO. But to be fair, I haven't looked at it recently. Perhaps there's been a recent update that fixes it's inaccessibility issues. As for a good, accessible Bible program for the I-Phone, Youversion looks promising. The problem I have encountered is the troubling inaccessibility of the registration process via the I-Phone. I understand that the work around is to register the use of the program via either a Mac or a Windows based computer. I'll keep you updated on my progress with Youversion. William, Wow, it turns out that I was an 11.0.x build. Discovering that I was so far back encouraged me to update to the latest dev build. This version of Chrome is so much faster with Voiceover than I remember, and the quirks I previously saw seem to be gone. Thank you very much for the suggestion. If you are running Lion, and have subscribed to iCloud, then there is a folder in your Home Directory's Library folder named Mobile Documents This folder is what iCloud uses to share documents. If you are wishing to simply use the files between two Macs that both are registered to the same iCloud account, then simply create a folder in this folder and drop the files you wish accessed by both Macs into it. If you place a Word, Pages or a few other document types into the Documents folder in the com~apple~pages folder that resides in the Mobile Documents folder, it can be accessed and translated into mobile Pages. then it can be accessed and manipulated using Pages on any other iDevice you've registered within the same iCloud account. more than happy to help. It's pretty simple. depending on whether your email provider has it's own saved folder or work, etc you can drop those emails to the directory, then open mail in mac, build your account, then when it's up and running, your emails should come accross. if not, then it's time to make another email acount and export the enails through copy and paste to the other account and then create the 2nd account in mail, then drag the important emails to your current email account. sorry if it sounds a little confusing. if you get stuck, email me at freemacsforthebl...@mac-access.net and I'll resolve it with you. if not, there's plenty of us here who can assist. lew On 10 Jan 2012, at 17:01, Denise Barajas wrote: Hello all, I've been dying to ask this question for a long time, but I thought I would get some outside source help, but to no avail. the sequence mentioned resets PRAM. this stores bootup memory and some other settings including date and time, etc. basically because of the way the firmware behaves, there can be the odd conflict so firmware rebuilding helps. if you're using a PowerPC chip, there's also another setting to repair. This has nothing to do with what folders are contained in your email account. What you are describing is the difference between IMAP and POP3 access to a mailbox. If you use IMAP on all of your devices, folders, messages etc. will all stay in sync. For instance, I use Mozilla Thunderbird which has a very handy feature to create an archive of important messages. These messages are organised automatically by year, and stored in folders under my email account. Thus, when I access that same account in Mail on the Mac, Mail on the iPhone or any other client that supports IMAP, I can access those message archives. Were I to use POP on any or all of my devices, none of them would be in sync with each other. -- James Scholes http://twitter.com/JamesScholes -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Moving email to a new computer is, I'm sure, quite a common problem for many and there are a couple of solutions. Personally, I would recommend that you do the following: 1. Open up the email client on your Windows computer. 2. Locate the messages that you wish to copy over to the Mac. 3. Export (or save) them as mbox format files (the specific instructions for doing this differ from client to client so you'll need to tell us which email software you're using on Windows if you want us to help you). Make sure you know where you have saved the mbox files. 4. Copy the exported messages to your Mac computer, again making sure to put them in a location you will remember. 5. Open up Apple Mail and select Import Mailboxes from the File menu. 6. Choose mbox files from the Import data from: list, then click Continue. 7. Locate the files you copied to your Mac in step 4. -- James Scholes http://twitter.com/JamesScholes -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. ok. who's your email provider? also are you using IMAP or POP3 as your mail setup in windows? if it's imap, you should be able to set up your email account directly in mail and mail will fetch data from your mail server. that's if the emails you've kept are stored on the mail server to your provider. sorry wasn't thinking straight at the time. has been a very difficul day. lew On 10 Jan 2012, at 19:31, Denise Barajas wrote: That's a lot more hassle. Effectively navigating through edit fields on iPhone with Bluetooth keyboards
I have recently acquired a Bluetooth keyboard with a tiny docking station to use with my iPhone 4 running IOS5. While it is easy enough to enter text into an edit field, via the Bluetooth keyboard, I have been unable to cursor or arrow through a text that I am creating in order to insert or delete characters. Thus far, I have accomplished this task by moving the insertion point using the VoiceOver commands on the touch screen. I am wondering if there is a way to move through an edit field, character-by-character using the right and left arrow keys on the small Bluetooth keyboard. Fortunately, the backspace key is working. Besides working with edit fields, are there other ways to invoke most VO commands using the keyboard instead of the VO gestures? Re: Clearwire internet? Is it any good?
Hello, If you have a nice return policy, you could always test it. The fact is that cellular broadband is not as reliable as wired Internet, whether it is a landline DSL or cable. 4g might give you better bandwidth than what you currently have, but it depends on a lot of factors. Also, although 4g is a tremendous progress on cellular broadband, it will still add on latency when compared to landlines or cable connections. If you use Skype or any other VoIP service provider, it's most certainly not recommended. Re: a rather difficult question about converting e-mail
Hello, If you are using GMail with IMAP then you probably have those messages stored on GMail' servers. You can confirm this by going to GMail's Web interface and looking for the messages. If you find them, you don't need to worry with copying messages to the Mac. Just configure your GMail account on the Mac and they'll be automatically available there. Hi, It's not VO+p+r, it is cmd-+option+p+r. I usually use my left thumb across the cmd and option keys then my left index and right pinky for the r and p respectively. Re: to do list apps
Becky, I went hunting on the App Store to see if something would fit the description of what you-re looking for. I found an app that claims to have recently improved its VoiceOver support and I purchased it to give it a try. It's only $0.99, so if you want to have a look, here is the link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/to-do-lists/id416993121?mt=12 This is a Mac OS app. Good luck for your assignments! Re: to do list apps
Hi Becky, My recommendation would be list recorder. You could do your to do lists as either recordings or as a text list as List Recorder does both. It also now has do dates available. I suspect you might find it useful in additional ways for your classes. I use List recorder to organize everything from recorded lectures and meetings to lists of groceries. The app is about $10.00 and is not only voice Over friendly but designed with voice over as a priority. I use this app a lot and it has the priority spot in my dock. Best. Re: Blackboard and Voice-over?
Hello Shanna, Although many portions of the Blackboard platform can be navigated with VO through Safari, there is one area that is difficult and, as far as I am concerned, inadequately accessible. I am referring to the discussion areas where students interact with one another and their teachers. I believe that Blackboard calls this area their Bulletin Board area. While I am not saying that it is impossible to use the Bulletin Board, I am stating that it is difficult. I have suspended my graduate studies until Blackboard has properly addressed this issue. It was possible for me to look at class syllabi and download class lectures, however. My university also uses Blackboard version 9.1. Although I cannot confirm this, I have heard that it is possible to fully access the Bulletin Board with Google's Chrome browser, but I have been unable to confirm this since I don't know how to go about installing Chrome on my Mac. Kindest regards, Mike On 11,Jan,2012, at 6:03 AM, Shanna Stichler wrote: Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has attempted using Blackboard with VO, and whether or not it worked for you.
