Hi, Thuy: I have noted the side switch set to lock rotation within Settings. However, nothing I do, either pressing the side switch (either up or down) or changing it to "mute," seems to actually lock the rotation. My assumption here was that VoiceOver had cooped the side switch for volume, as that is always what it does--raise and lower the volume. However, I shall test this by changing the selection in settings to "mute," and then going to Control Center to see if I can lock the rotation from there. *smile* Thanks; be well * Mark BurningHawk Baxter * AIM, Skype and Twitter: BurningHawk1969 * MSN: burninghawk1...@hotmail.com * My home page: * http://MarkBurningHawk.net/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. The lock is therefore controlled by your side switch. You can change this behaviour in the opening screen of the Settings app. Just make sure General is selected on the left pain. Re: Lock Rotation on an iPad 2 *WHERE* in control center?
Hi Mark. The side switch may already be set to lock rotation, in which case it will not appear in the control centre. You can find the setting for the side switch in settings/general. It can be set to mute sounds or rotation lock, and whichever one is selected, will put the other in the control centre. Hope this helps? Re: Pairing More Than One Braille Display
I will have to experiment with this; I am not running ML any more but I am sure I had two displays paired at once. Also, you say you know you can't use them both at the same time. I'm not sure why this would be the case as you can have more than one bluetooth keyboard, etc running at the same time and working with the same computer or device. Since there is reference to a primary braille display in the braille settings, the intent does appear to be that more than one can be paired at a time though I realize intent and reality may not always match. Also, I think if you pair something via the bluetooth category instead of through voiceover utility, this can mess things up though I'm not sure; it will show up as a device in bluetooth but should always be paired through braille from what I understand. One time I accidentally paired a display through bluetooth rather than from voiceover utility and as I recall I ended up having to delete it completely and start over. I actually can't test this now as I just sold my refreshabraille and only have my Braille edge to use on the Mac though my old Braillelite and old BRAILLEnote MPOWER both work in terminal with brltty but of course don't work with voiceover. > -- > Cheryl > I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf. > I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper thrown in the trash! > Then God gave me a new heart and life: > His joy for my despairing tears! > And now, every day: > "This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: > The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; > his mercies never come to an end; > they are new every morning; > great is your faithfulness." > (Lamentations 3:21-23 ESV) > On Jun 17, 2014, at 8:09 AM, Les Kriegler wrote: > > Hi Isaac, > > Yes, I tried to add the second display from the Braille Category. Re: Pairing More Than One Braille Display
Hi there I can't add more than more on the list either on the Mac. I can on the iPhone. I have had to delete one before I can add the other, if, that is, I can get the Focus 14 to add at all. What I am doing these days is using the Focus 14 on Bluetooth since the Genius Bar man helped me get it done and then using the Braille Edge 40 on USB. For now, that works. If you get the second one to add, please let us know how you did it. When I had the Genius Bar appointment, he suggested that I bring the second display so we could try. However, I haven't taken the time to do that. For one thing, it would be just my luck that we could not get the Focus 14 to add itself again. This method I am doing now with these displays works well enough that I don't want to rock my boat. Re: Amadeus Pro file joining question
Hi amadeus users, Joining files is easy. Here's how I do it: 1. Open amadeus, the sound menu and then join files. This dialog has a listbox and 2 buttons. To begin with, of course all files you are going to join, must be in the same audio format. 2. Hit the add button. If it's not labeled, use the first one after the listbox. An open dialog opens. 3. In the open dialog, simply select the first file by highlighting it, and then hit the open button. The open dialog disappears. 4. You are now back in the join files dialog. The listbox that was empty when you hit add, should now contain the first filename you just selected. 5. Keep adding files one by one as described, until you have them all in the listbox. 6. Now that all files are in place and in order, according to the listbox, hit the join button and Amadeus will go to work. 7. Amadeus will work a while, depending on the amount of audio you gave it, but it will still finish relatively quickly. Once the job is done, you are then thrown back into amadeus, into the normal edit view. What you have here, is one big audio file, with all files joind. Just skim through the file to make sure the joints are okay. Note: once in the open dialog, you do not need to select each single file one by one, going through the open dialog for each file. Instead, you can also choose files contiguously, by holding the shift key as you arrow down the list. So, focus on the first file, hold shift, and then slowly arrow down. Not VO down, but just down arrow, while holding shift. Each file you land on is selected. If you then hit open, all files you selected will be in the listbox and then you can hit join. Hth, Paul.
