Re: PDF Pen Pro
The answer is no. PDFPen and PDF Pro are as yet not good applications for reading PDFs. Their main function at this point is for filling in interactive PDF forms. They do not allow you to navigate by heading, list, paragraph etcetera. They do not even allow you to navigate by line. The only way to read a page is all at once, word by word or character by character. As I said, the only thing I use them for at the moment is filling in interactive PDF forms. In the meantime I think the more pressing issue is for them to get other form fields such as checkboxes and pop up menus working in forms which have been built with accessibility in mind. Next it would be great if they could get the text to read better as in Preview, and if they could get the heading and form field tags etcetera to work like normal html headings and forms that would be fantastic. And then there's the features to reorder pages, insert new pages, create tables of contents and use them to navigate large documents. These features would be great if they worked with VoiceOver. I haven't fully explored them yet but I suspect there are some issues for now. Certainly please let us know if there's anything else we can help with by testing. It's better already. Gigi On Aug 28, 2014, at 11:15 PM, Nicholas Parsons mr.nicholas.pars...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Gigi, I've tried doing this before. They were able to click and drag and stuff to fix it up a bit, but this would not be possible as a VoiceOver user. The other problem is that all the form fields were unlabelled, so I sometimes couldn't tell what answer I should be writing in which field. If I haven't properly understood what your'e asking please let me know. On 29 Aug 2014, at 3:06 am, Eugenia Firth gigifi...@me.com wrote: Hi guys I just discovered something about PDF Pen Pro, and I wanted to tell you guys about this because we want to test this to see what improvements need making so we can let the good folks there know about it. I just discovered that if you get an inaccessible form that does nothing when you press the tab key, because the author of the PDF file didn't bother to consider us, there is an option in PDF Pen Pro to find the form fields. It goes through the file and makes the things accessible. I just did one, and the person I sent it to said it worked. I am not sure I got everything, and that's what wee want to test. The version, which I got from the App store yesterday, is 6.3.2. I had to go to the App store because I got it from there in the first place, so it didn't work for me to update within the program. Re: What's the Deal with new Numbers in Mavericks?
1. VoiceOver doesn't read the contents of merged cells automatically (which is a real pain), but if you're on the left-most and up-most cell of the merged range and press VO-F3 VoiceOver will read the contents. It's a bit flaky but you just need to play around with it. 2. The inspector is permanently visible now. Selecting it in the menu bar does not change VoiceOver focus. To get to the inspector, jump from within the table layout area or from within a table with VO-j. You can jump back again with the same command. 3. I know the round function still exists, not sure about the others. The formulas and functions help from the help menu is a good place to look for functions. 4. I have plenty of work arounds and really love the new Numbers. On 25 Sep 2014, at 12:39 am, Kevin Shaw tvsound...@gmail.com wrote: I've upgraded to the new Numbers. Hi! OK when you've got the language you should find it with VO+command+arrows, left and right to move through options and up or down to switch and if you leave the rota on that option switching should be quite quick! Another option I saw in an old post is to set up an activity to have everything in the language of your choice so you could look at that option! Why is this happening with my MacBook?
Hello all. For the past two days, regardless of charge, amount of use, or application being used, VoiceOver on my white MacBook (three and a half years old), has been stopping with no warning, then popping back on with my Welcome screen, displaying whatever was there before it stopped. This is going on about three to five times per hour while in use. I let it drain, then recharged, and also rebooted, but this is still happening. Has anyone experienced this, and what might be the cause? Thanks. Christine -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Is Flecksy accessible?
Hi Folks, before iOS 8 I tried Flecksy and for me it was a nice way to make typing easier on my iPhone. Now I can hardly use it because of the following questions: * How can I switch back to a normal keyboard without deleting it from Keyboards in the settings section? * If I'm correct Flecksy started as an app especially for visually impared people. My impression at the moment is it's completely inaccessible to VoiceOver users. Does anyone of you know wether this is correct or do I miss a way to use Flecksy in a productive way using VO? Is Flecksy accessible at all? I'd be glad if anyone could answer this questions. Bose update application
Hi all. I have bose ae2w bluetooth headphones; I am not sure if they are the latest ones as I have had them for several months. While looking online I discovered that there is an update for these headphones. Unfortunately when I downloaded and opened this update I briefly saw something about universal access off (at least I thought that was what it showed; it disappeared) and the language window I then got had nothing but unknown areas that were empty when I interacted. Does anybody know if there's a way we can use this application? i don't even know for sure that I need this update; my headset appears to be working fine. -- Cheryl I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf. I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper thrown in the trash! Then God gave me a new heart and life: His joy for my despairing tears! And now, every day: This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. voiceover and updated safari
Hello All: I am hoping someone has suggestions. Within the last week or so, I have noticed problems with Safari and Voiceover. By far the most serious problem is that one part of a web site I must use renders voiceover totally silent. The other portions of the web site seem to function normally. I don't even know where to begin to untangle this mystery so I am hoping people have suggestions. I have changed no settings either in Safari or voiceover in a very long time. No amount of relaunching Safari and/or voiceover makes any difference nor does restarting my computer. If anyone can help I would be most appreciative. Re: voiceover and updated safari
About the only thing I can suggest, is that you try going into the developer menu, then from there, select a different user agent. You might perhaps choose to simulate an older version of Safari or, failing that, even simulate Internet Explorer. I have found that sometimes, such strategies work to make a page more usable: but, sometimes, they just don't work at all. Only thing to do is try.
