Re: Gifting apps

2014-12-24 Thread Feliciano G
In the previous version of iOS, I have found that when I write a message when
gifting a app that the app would crash. Not sure if this is still a problem.
If it is, just don't write a message.

Re: GarageBand

2014-12-24 Thread Keith Hinton
Hi folks, GarageBand is a pretty cool app, however what I can't figure
out ever since GarageBand10 was written anymore is how to extend the
recording time.
In GarageBand6 that was accomplished at least on OS X using a "song
value end indicator" but in the latest version I have no clue how to
go about that.
If anybody needs a place to go for listening to any possible
GarageBand classes, I could upload the files as a podcast episode for
listening to my own website if anybody is interested in that, so
that's not a problem.
Whoever is doing a class would need to either make sure I got the
files, or something would need to be worked out.
Merry Christmas

Re: A tip regarding moving sites into folders in the bookmarks tool bar

2014-12-24 Thread Faisal ali
Its different from before.
Under Mavericks, I found that you were able to move bookmarks, not cutting them
like you would in finder. they made it so that only cutting and drag drop are
the only ways of arranging bookmarks in the desired folders.

Dear List,
A while back, I posted a message about creating a podcast feed
automatically using folder actions.

Well, after trying, I could not get it to work.
so I whent back to the drawing board and found a web site that will
generate the feed for you.

All you have to do is register for a free account.
enter the link to your podcast files add titles and descriptions then
download the feed that it will generate.
Now upload the feed to your web site that hosts your podcast and you are
ready.

I have been testing DropBox to host my podcast and so far its going well.

Re: Choppy Apple TV

2014-12-24 Thread Rod Skene
What is a sounder?
I have a second generation Apple TV. I have a HDMI cable connected from the
Apple TV to the TV and an optical audio cable connected from the Apple TV to a
Bose SR1 soundbar. Audio only media such as iRadio and media air played from my
iPhone works great with the TV powered off. But, video such as Netflix doesn't
play without my TV turned on.
Hope this makes sence.
By the way, I have no issues with media or VoiceOver stuttering or any think of
cutting in and out.

A tip regarding moving sites into folders in the bookmarks tool bar

2014-12-24 Thread Faisal ali
Hi,
this is just a tip for moving websites around and organizing them into folders.
David, I’m not sure whether you were able to address this issue after your
bookmarks podcast but I was able to find a fairly reliable way of altering
bookmarks folders. I discovered that copying and pasting doesn’t work as David
as pointed out in his podcast, but cutting and pasting, strangely enough works.
Like I mentioned, I’m not sure if you discovered this yourself in later
podcasts but just thought I pass this along for whoever encounters issues
organizing their bookmarks folders.

On Dec 24, 2014, at 8:32 AM, Cheryl Homiak wrote:

No wonder this is so confusing. Now I really do wonder if people knew which app
they were reviewing!

If you buy both apps, when they download, they both show up as AudioSwitcher on
your computer: one word with a capital "A" and a capital "S" but both one word.
The distinction in the app store names is gone. I purchased both at the same
time basically and one of them downloaded as an app while the other downloaded
with a folder containing the app and only the app. I don't know if they were
designed that way or if they were downloaded with one in a folder because they
both had the same name and one would have overwritten the other. But they
definitely are two different apps and if you want the right one you really have
to pay attention.

The one that works for me is the one that downloaded as a folder, though this
may be only because I downloaded it after downloading the other one by the same
name. It is the more expensive one. It is also the one that has only one
review: a bad review that says it could be killed only in Activity Monitor. I
am suspecting that this person actually had the other app and put a review in
the wrong place but I can't be sure of this. If you look carefully at the
information in the app store, you will know that you want the one that shows
2.0.4 as the version and in addition to a link for support shows a link to a
website for Lorenzo Thurman. It is the one that shows up in the app store with
the space so that "audio Switcher" is two words. It does not open as an actual
app with its own window as far as I can tell. But it creates an extras menu
which opens with vo-m once you locate it in the extras menu and has options in
it, including a quit option that does work. I haven't explored this yet but
it's possible that there's also an option to show the app in a window as I know
some apps have that as an option.

The other app, the one that does not work for me, will be listed as version
2.24.7. It is the one that costs just $0.99 and shows the developer as Paul
ONeil. Ironically, it is the one that has almost all the reviews, a lot of them
good, so either this really works for some people or people chose the first app
by this name in the app store and assumed it was the one they had and did their
reviews there. After opening it, I can find no trace of it anywhere except in
Activity Monitor and that was the only place where I could kill the process.

Audio Switcher confusion unraveled: was Re: How in the world do you get to a program that is open yet does not appear anywhere

2014-12-24 Thread Cheryl Homiak

Nope you don’t have to have anything but a sounder everything works fine
without the Tv. I am single and don’t watch a lot of Tv but there ar certain
shows I like and I also like the fact of the radio on the Apple tv as well.

Actually, yes, the Apple TV box does have an optical output. However,
let me point out, that the optical output on the Apple TV is strictly
for nothing but digital audio. No video whatsoever passes through the
optical port. If you want to do the audio and the video through a
single cable, you have to use HDMI.
