Thanks for this information Sarai. I'm sending it to an accessibility lawyer I

from your gift card number to your password which could give them access to
saved credit card information.

Hi:
I used Audio book builder to create the book. I have iTunes 12 on my Mac with
the latest OS. I have the iPod Nano 6th gen and the iPhone 5s. Issue isn’t with
the book b/c Nano sees it fine, the iPhone doesn’t see the track divisions.

Hello:
I do a lot of Swagbucking and m Amazon cards are sent via email, so that isn’t
the issue. I’ve redeemed Amazon cards for years without issues. Saturday was
the first time I’ve ever seen this. I even tried with different web browsers.
The people at Amazon said some parts of their site use captchas now. Go figure.

the reason why I started with python is that I initially wanted world of

Re: Response from Amazon regarding captchas

2015-01-11 Thread Cheryl Homiak
First of all, I have redeemed several gift cards from Amazon and there was no
captcha. I thought maybe it had changed recently when I read this thread but I
went to the website and I see no captcha. I approached this both from the main
site and the access site even though I never actually use the access site. Both
with Audible and Amazon, I much prefer to use the main site. So I'm a little
puzzled as to how one person could see a captcha while another doesn't. You do
have to sign in with your username and password and you do have to enter the
claim code. You even can get around reading a claim code by having people email
your gift cards instead of sending them by snail mail or giving them to you
when the person involved uses email. It's not that i'm doubting your statement
that there was a captcha; I personally simply don't see any request for one and
never have in my own experience. Maybe they have started doing it for some
accounts and others will follow though that doesn't totally make sense to me
either.

Secondly, some other form of security besides username and password in some
instances is not, in my opinion, overkill. At least from what I know about
passwords being stolen or hacked, i don't think it's overkill. We can argue
about whether that other form should be captcha r not and we can argue about
whether or not there should be an accessible alternative and what that
alternative should be, but i don't really think we can argue that something in
addition to username and password is overkill, at least in some situations.

It is true that Amazon does require captchas in some instances; I rarely run
into this on Amazon but I think when you set up an account and perhaps when you
change your password you might have to enter a captcha, but I'm not going to
change mine just to test this out. There may be some other instances.

Question about transferring an audio book

2015-01-11 Thread Sarai Bucciarelli
Hi:
I used Audiobook builder to build a book with each file divided in to tracks.
One book has 41 tracks. I transfer it to my Nano, and it works fine, I can
navigate back and forth via the 41 tracks. The issue is when I transfer the
book to my iPhone 5s, the book is 1 large file, and the track divisions are not
appearing. I’m using a Mac with iTunes 12. How can I resolve the issue on the
phone?

unsupported video on amazon

2015-01-11 Thread Christina C.
Hi, often when going through reviews on Amazon.com there
is a video review and I often get this message and cannot access the video.

"Sorry, this video is unsupported on this browser.“

I have the latest flash plug in for Safari installed. Is there some other plug
in that I may be missing?

Thanks,
Christina

shortcuts for styles in pages appear to work

2015-01-11 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
I was able to get to control button for renaming a style or creating a shortcut
by hitting command-control-option-J (jump to next control) I believe this will
work from anywhere in the style table, but I was also attempting combinations
of vo-spacebar or vo-command-shift-spacebar. I am fairly confident that I got
this to work 2 times in a row.

This should be great news for folks.

Re: Keeping a journal, both on Mac and iPhone?

2015-01-11 Thread Christina C.
The last time I checked DayOne was not accessible for iPhone. I contacted the
developers and they told me they had made VO improvements for the Mac version
but not for iOS. It was easy for me to make a journal entry with day one on the
iPhone but that was about it. the rest of the actions were very difficult or
impossible. You’d have to go to the app store and check out their latest
updates over the last few months to see if they mention VO improvements but I
personally have not seen any mentioned. I have not read every update log for
every update of day One for iOS but I’ve read a few and not seen any mention of
VO enhancements. Also, as of a few months ago, you can only create one journal
but you can tag your journal entries.

Re: Buying mp3 albums from amazon and downloading to the mac

2015-01-11 Thread David Griffith
From memory you have to run the install which then downloads a dmg
file from which you can extract the Amazon Mp3 Downloadable app.
I did this last year so did not do it again today. This is from memory
but I did not find it difficult though I had to go to system preferences
to make the Mac allow the installation of the app. Once installed, on
using the site I found that what happens on my system is that you have
to download a small don loader file first and then open that in your
downloads folder. Once this file is opened Amazon Mp3 Down loader will
download your music to an Amazon Mp3 Folder in your Music Folder on the Mac.

It also gives the option to import into iTunes if you wish.

Specifically I found the download page on the UK site to download it at

You need to use not the inaccessible Amazon app but instead
install the alternative Amazon Music Downloader.
Generally in checking out you need to reject the option to use the
Amazon app and select the option which says something like no
thanks use the Amazon Music Downloader.

Re: coaching in terminal

Okay, this does work. Because it says "open file" when you do cmd-o, I didn't
realize this would work for folders.

Open vlc.
Do cmd-o.
You will be in a dialog where you have to choose a folder. Choose the folder
that would either be the one you want or would have that folder under it from
the pop-up. Then interact with the browser or list view or whatever you have
set in finder, and find the folder you want. Stop interacting and
vo-right-arrow to "open". This should indeed play everything in the folder and
its subfolders. Much easier than using terminal.

If vlc is crashing, I would say maybe you have other files mixed in with your
music files. I don't really know if that would cause the crashing or slowness
between songs but maybe it would. I run large folders with lots of subfolders
and songs, both from terminal and with a playlist and I don't have delays. I am
pretty sure the cmd-o method should work also.

FS:mint condition 16gb Apple iPad mini with two high end cases...

2015-01-11 Thread Cameron Strife
Hi everybody. Please write me off list to make an offer...

I'm selling my mint condition 16gb Apple iPad mini which will include
two high end cases, lightning cable, charging cube, and original box.

The iPad has no wear and no issues and has always been kept in a case.
The battery seems to last forever! I will do a factory reset and fresh
install of iOS 8 before shipping... The two cases I am including are
two genuine lifeproof cases. One has a built in screen protector and
the other does not. They are both in mint condition and are both
waterproof and dustproof etc. The two cases alone were over $150!
(They were the Nuud and the Fre.)

Drop me a message to make an offer. Pay pal is preferred. I always
ship with tracking and full insurance.

Thanks,

Cameron.

I’m wondering if anyone has a way to do something like right option b to show

able to check it now and then rather then going to the menu that shows time and

Any accessible app for playing chess?

2015-01-11 Thread Gabriele Battaglia
Hi All.
I just wonder if anybody knows some accessible app to play chess under MAC OS.
I need something more advanced of the onboard Chess.app.
Chess.app is ok just to play but it lacs of some main features useful for those
who study chess like: openings book, analysis, editing chessboard to play game
only for certain positions, possibility to include stronger chess engines like
Houdini or Crafty.
Moreover, Chess.app writes an incorrect PGN format which doesn’t include some
standard symbol like “=“ and others.

Thanks.

I have found that the TWAIN drivers for flat bed scanners seem to limit one to

pages a minute that could go a long way to me helping to clean out 30 years of

Well, let us know when you have a library ready to test out. I'd very much
rather use Swift, so PyObjC isn't really going to work. As I said, the ideal
would be a Swift or C/C++ library that any other language could access. You
said that all languages have the same basics, and you're certainly right about
that, but porting code I don't understand is a recipe for disaster.

To answer your question about the buffer channels.

The buffer max is 16 megs. a lot of sounds can be shrunk, blended and
refactored using fourrier's transforms. Also, by applying buffer queuing
algorithms such that active sound sources and their positional information
can be truncated into the right bytesize, considering that most or all of
our computers are intel x86, and a lot of us using 64-bit. with 16 buffer
channels, we have approximately 256 megs of sound clips and generated
waveforms (on the fly) that can be queued using parallel algorithms. I was
thinking of using the select() module for this purpose which listens and
automatically fills the queue which can then be passed to each individual
 buffers.

By quick calculation, this is how I see it:
each observer (character in the game) has three areas (long, med, short).
Anything long range dithers anyway in the perceptive field, so they can be
blended through the queue and played back as a single long range pass, or
pre recorded. Making a simulation first then recording can also work. Mid
range has more definition but channel size restricted to 5 sources. The
rest of the 10 channels can be various sources around the proximity of the
player. I can even hypothesise a cheat which filters the types of sounds
 we want to hear.

In regards to emulating higher channel counts, I think it will have to be
again math based. Say you have a willow tree in front of you. there are
about 35 odd branches, each with smaller branches and their leaves. clumps
of leaves with small rustle signatures (this is just about function
generation into the buffer) can be blended before being sent to the
buffer. Kind of a premix before getting out there in the world. Again,
bijectivity is super important to trace back and edit th

The reason why I like js is because recently apple has also adopted it for its

2015-01-11 Thread Yuma Antoine Decaux
Mathematics is the base language. The rest is inflexion.

I don't see a reason why it cannot be converted. The pyobjc bridge allows for
this. You're used to a MVC design pattern I suppose, with Model View Control.
Then take all the python stuff as model data and pyobjc does the interface and
control through x-code. I have looked at swift and I like the language so far.
I have started with a web based set of languages because they are so efficient
server side, and world of warcraft is a server side platform. I didn't see a
reason to take all my time constructing C classes when some python modules are
based in c anyway. Do you see where I'm heading at? Every language uses the
same base concepts. They just differ in the writing of it. I know c language
quite a little now that I have completed two courses using it, but so far I see
better results and especially, faster ones using the expansive python module
repository and finding everything or every component I need to make this happen.

I understand that you have stayed at high school calculus, but I can't push
enough the difference your code will experience when you delve into higher
maths.

In any case, I'm continuing this until I get a good solid working demo.

Cheers,

Re: Apple script doesn't work

2015-01-11 Thread Jonathan C Cohn
There is actually an option for a double click with the VO “mouse cursor”
object

I tested the below and it seems to work for me.
tell commander

perform command "move mouse pointer to voiceover cursor"
delay 1

end tell
output mouse summary (*
Above output satement should be what control+option+F5 outputs.
*)
tell mouse cursor
 click twice
 End Tell

The methods available for the mouse cursor are:
click (once, twice, thrice) with (left, button right) button)
press
release

The mouse cursor object also has a property that I believe is read only called
location. Though there are other apple script libraries that allow you to
manipulate the mouse.

Re: Keeping a journal, both on Mac and iPhone?

2015-01-11 Thread Christina C.
Check out macJournal. I cannot tell you how accessible the mac version is
because I only have a little bit of experience with it. The little bit of
experience is so far promising. I have not used the iPhone version yet. It’s
really more about a lack of time to learn to set everything up in order to sync
across devices. I think you can choose to sync via drop box or through
macJournal but I do not know how to do either and do not know if the iPhone
version is accessible. I believe the macJournal for Mac has a downloadable
trial for free on the website not through the app store.

Also, I know you can create multiple Journals but I don’t know about nested
journals. I don’t know what that is and how in the world you are doing that
with notes. :)

Good Luck,
Christina

Unwanted List traffic

2015-01-11 Thread Stan ZA
Hi Every1,
On the 4 January 2015, I submitted a message "Hijacking?", which I have not yet
seen on the list.
I created a new message then, instead of just replying, as I did not think it
prudent, nor did I wish to participate in spreading what I considered unwanted
information on this List.
Now with hindsight, I guess I should not have used "hijacking", as the subject.
Hi Every1,
Is this a "hi-jacking" or what?, or am I really missing out, BIG TIME?
Is there some way of "blocking" this ?

As before, I don't follow all of this. Computer science uses math, but nothing
like this, and I didn't need anything past calculus 1. Still, I'd like to see
the API, and (most importantly) to know if I can use all this in an iOS or Mac
app written in Swift or Objective-C. If everything is condensed to a C or C++
library, I don't see why such integration couldn't happen, but I have no idea
if the languages you're using would be compatible. I realize you are focused on
web-based apps at the moment, so we might be on two different wavelengths here.

2015-01-11 Thread Yuma Antoine Decaux
Hi Alex,

I have the Js web audio API classes ready but reading the openal.audio python
module, I think I can save a lot of processes and do everything in one language
(save xml and lua for the world of warcraft interface)

http://pythonhosted.org/PyAL/audio.html#module-openal.audio

To answer your question about the buffer channels.

The buffer max is 16 megs. a lot of sounds can be shrunk, blended and
refactored using fourrier's transforms. Also, by applying buffer queuing
algorithms such that active sound sources and their positional information can
be truncated into the right bytesize, considering that most or all of our
computers are intel x86, and a lot of us using 64-bit. with 16 buffer channels,
we have approximately 256 megs of sound clips and generated waveforms (on the
fly) that can be queued using parallel algorithms. I was thinking of using the
select() module for this purpose which listens and automatically fills the
queue which can then be passed to each individual buffers.

By quick calculation, this is how I see it:
each observer (character in the game) has three areas (long, med, short).
Anything long range dithers anyway in the perceptive field, so they can be
blended through the queue and played back as a single long range pass, or pre
recorded. Making a simulation first then recording can also work. Mid range has
more definition but channel size restricted to 5 sources. The rest of the 10
channels can be various sources around the proximity of the player. I can even
hypothesise a cheat which filters the types of sounds we want to hear.

In regards to emulating higher channel counts, I think it will have to be again
math based. Say you have a willow tree in front of you. there are about 35 odd
branches, each with smaller branches and their leaves. clumps of leaves with
small rustle signatures (this is just about function generation into the
buffer) can be blended before being sent to the buffer. Kind of a premix before
getting out there in the world. Again, bijectivity is super important to trace
back and edit the raw as it comes. using the select module allows for automatic
buffer dispatch for the first available one, since each buffer block say is the
raw data and its positional/volume/others information.

I don't think this will be much of a problem though it shows a technical
restriction.

Re: A call for a world perspective in 3D

2015-01-11 Thread Yuma Antoine Decaux
Hi Again Alex,

I just went off for a break before getting back to work.

I've pasted your questions and will attempt to answer them all.
/managing sound buffers (you can only have 16 at a time in OpenAL)
-These buffers send out smaller sample sized waveforms. The waveforms have a
specific signature which you trace back, and decompose using a fourrier
transform. This is how Jaws or voice over voices are done. What we are
essentially doing with code is break it down to its constituent parts and go
back up the ladder by adjusting mathematical proofs meaning referencing
ourselves from axioms and expressing them in code. This means that each channel
is a queue of smaller buffers.
-Each of the 16 channels will be used entirely if possible, but for now I
preffer keeping a good focus on the xml parsing side to have the proof of
concept ready by 2 weeks.
, handling stereo sound samples
-the API handles this already. It's just a matter of how you process this,
where you prioritise, and what other options are there to increase the number
of channels. I don't think a second that with what is already there, an
incredible experience can't be had.

generating sounds on the fly instead of relying on recorded audio,
-Sounds on the fly are a signature. A chirp is a wave form signature. Fourrier
should be thanked for this.
applying real-time filters or effects
-The API includes a nodesList which handles this entire structure, using a b
plus tree. I'm sure other more advanced tree systems can be thought up or
searched for on the net. It's incredible how if your question in google has the
right semantics, it finds it exactly as you want it.

managing occlusions and distance roll-offs
-This is the part I have been working on and will finish either beginning or
mid week.
By having that same node structure, you are doing concurrency between nodes.
These concurrencies can be reshaped into the buffer as they are blended, almost
a machine code A+B operation. The geometry is elegant too. Imagine a system,
using those same nodes, which are connected by a matrix. The matrix is local,
reflecting its position in the global, the world axis. That world axis contains
say a matrix of 9 regions. These matrices are the world's child nodes. They
have child nodes too. And so a region may have 9 districts. These districts
have 16 blocks each (keep it at congruent multiples if possible though I didn't
in this example. Where a multiple of one is a multiple of another. Following me
so far?
Once you've reached the inner most, or most nested matrix, that matrix have
simple instructions, tags, calls and listeners. Each functions with the
following axioms:
1-function bijectivity. mathematically, each node relation should be mapped.
This way you are sure that every single node is bijective with the other node.
meaning that functions and their inverses return the original value. This is
very useful for a lot of connectivity.
Now add several classes which can be instaced and all contain or encapsulate
the proper methods for functioning in the world, as well as through the various
menus, maps, pop overs, etc. The XML parser I have does exactly that, and
places every element in the right hierarchy, then accessible via call, dict
search or list / matrix arrangements. The gemoetrical shapes inside come from a
library I am coding, meaning every primitive type of shape. The Ngon. low
values give you a tetrahedron, increase the value by far and you get a perfect
sphere. 4 sides and its a rectangle, etc. Another one is a bunch of points you
add together to form the environment, or space where the sound is emitted.
Inwards and outwards. At the top of these 3D sound orientation objects class, I
call wObjects, you have a smaller matrix with simple tuple like rows which take
from a database, which I have already setup with the tables etc. The dB script
will continue to increase as various objects are created by code only. Not
paintbrushing. Actual abstract and beautifully elegant nature that is handled
with the minimum ammount of big O. Factorial by factorial, you're fucked in
fact, arithmetic, and well...
Now I'll give you an example of how to generate a tree:
-Create an ngon. Increase the vector transform influence from one point to a
circular shape around it with a hyperbolic falloff. The values of these these
falloffs are all class instances.
-create a spline (it;s a function line) perpendicular to the original object's
x and y. It's easy. You just compare the local axis as compared to world axis
of one object then put that value into the other object.
-Use the formula that directs whatever tree or plant in real life from its
geometry, and make sure to add the phi ratio, or some call it the golden ratio.
This ratio will allow for the natural fractals to combine. Mathematically, you
just have to look for the math you want, understand it, and apply it. Back to
the task.
-Use several properties to the revolving o

Keeping a journal, both on Mac and iPhone?

2015-01-11 Thread Mike Busboom
Hello everyone,

For the past two years or so, I have been keeping sort of a journal on my Mac,
using the Notes app. The reason this works for me is that I can also add notes
from my iPhone, and they will appear on my Mac. I have amassed thousands of
notes and don’t know how I will ever import all of them into a journal.

Is there an accessible app, both for the Mac and the iPhone that would allow me
to keep my journals? I keep three different kinds of journals, so perhaps a
program allowing for “nested journals” would be the ticket.

The program needs to work seamlessly between the Mac and the iPhone and, of
course, it needs to work on both platforms with VoiceOver.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Mike

Re: Uber podcast

2015-01-11 Thread Aleeha Dudley
Unfortunately, it is a bit difficult to get the locations coret. I do not enter
the destination if I am having trouble with the app, though admittedly I have
not used it in a while.

Re: Safari questions

2015-01-11 Thread Terje Strømberg
One another back command is: vo-cmd+home, then you will here «back/forward
group» hit vo+space. Once in a while, try cmd-left arrow, just to check. I also
have full qwerty/Numeric usb keyboard. A while back cmd+left arrow did not
work, but now it does.

Take care

1. how does Keychain work? is it similar to Firefox? if I have saved a password
will it automatically be filled in when I write in my email address or do I
need to start writing it?

2. I’m still having trouble with the “back” command. if I have followed a link
and decide I want to go back to the previous page what do I do? I have tried
command-left bracket making very sure that my finger is on the key to the right
of the letter P and nothing happens. might this have anything to do with the
fact that I’m using a full keyboard?

Thanks.

Unfortunately you can't prevent this from happening. You have to have an
Apple ID that has purchased Yosemite to be able to install it cleanly on
the computer. I know, I've done this. But, it won't affect whoever uses
the computer next, they won't know anything about your Apple ID it will be
able to purchase Yosemite if they needed to.

Any help would be much appreciated.
