RE: Keeping iOS apps in sync with Mac

2016-05-10 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Sadam,

Cheers for that,

I was not aware I could get rid of the apps I no longer wanted or required.

I'll have to try this.
And I do most if not all of my app purchasing off the phone or iPad
I only really use Itunes for my audio books and music.

App slicing is this new technology that means that you only have the binary
code and data your app actually requires on a given device. Example: you have
a 64-bit chip, so you don’t need 32-bit code. You no longer download a
complete app with everything packed inside, but download only the bits you need
and construct an app installation on a per-device basis for whatever state it
is in.

You’ve been able to hide purchases for a while now, when it isn’t broken. You
need iTunes on Mac/PC, but if you go to your Purchased page (it’s under Quick
Links on any iTunes Store page), go to the Apps tab and make sure “All” and
“iPhone” are selected (use iPad for iPad-only apps), you can see all your apps
and hide any of them. Spend some time doing that. Now, turn off syncing of
apps to your device, turn off installation of new apps, turn off “Automatic
Downloads” in iTunes for apps, and throw away all apps in your iTunes library.
Use App Store on your device exclusively, and (optionally) turn on updates.
You are now in the position to download and test an app, and immediately remove
it if you’re unhappy with it. You can easily refund apps you don’t want, and
have less opportunity to buy wastefully or get blacklisted by Apple for the
returns process. This is all very worthwhile.

Scott,

Listening to the national news here today, it sounds very much like things are

But they are still no where near out of danger.

It's seemingly that large that the guys in the space station have been taking

25 hectairs already burnt.

they got things under wraps. It was horrible though, you couldn’t breathe

weird vo output message

2016-05-10 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,

On my husband’s i mac, a message keeps on popping up every time he reboots the
mac. The message says that voice over is configured to be put out over
airplay, and do you want to revert to the previous settings or continue as is??
He clicks on revert with vo space, and things are fine, but when he reboots
the mac, the message appears again.

We’re not sure why this started happening, or how to fix it permanently.

any help would be great!!

Thanks,
Caitlyn

Re: weird vo output message

Go to VoiceOver Utility, sound category. If it’s set to “System Default” for
output, then that’s probably because you’re using AirPlay, so either manually
set VO to the correct device or stop using AirPlay from the menu bar. If you
aren’t using the default then VO is trying to be helpful by pointing out that
it won’t be doing a lot of good going through AirPlay, which is not normally
what you want.

adding a mailbox to favorites with yosemite

2016-05-10 Thread Jim Gatteys
Hi all!
Previously I've been able to add mailboxes to the favorites bar in mac mail
using the standard drag and drop commands. I just tried it again to add an
additional mailbox to the favorites bar and now it says can't drop item. I was
using command-comma to mark and command-period to drop. Any suggestions? What
about actually using the trackpad to move the items.

Re: Tim Kilburn

2016-05-10 Thread Scott
You’re absolutely correct.

As of this morning the fire grew from 620 or so square miles to over 750.
However, the town is largely out of danger at this point as are the oil sands
operations which is the bread and butter for that town. Oil production will
begin ramping back up and the pipelines are being restarted, large parts of the
city still are with out power and water so it’s thought it may be 2 weeks or
more before people can move back in. Last count the count had risen to 2400
structures lost or damaged. Fire is still out of control is some areas but
things steadily are improving. Sounds unbelievable. I haven’t seen any fund
raising efforts online maybe someone will post one if they know of a reputable
charity handling the area.

Subject: Re: A VM snapshot question

Ah, I see, you mean reclaim unused blocks in the VM image itself, not deleting
actual data. Yes, you’re right, you must have no snapshots before you can do
that. Just select a snapshot with QuickNav off and hit Backspace, and you’ll
delete the snapshot. Then reboot the VM, perform any internal housekeeping and
defragmenting, and use the shrink process to squeeze the VM down to
approximately the used space of the filesystem. This only works if you aren’t
using a pre-allocated disk, of course, as in the VM settings for the internal
disk. You can request a shrink inside Windows with the guest tools, and then
use the General settings in the VM to “Clean up” and you will have some space
back on the host Mac.

Let me know if you need further help.

I have the developer menu turned on in Safari, but when I try to view source

conquered this and, if so, how are you able to view the entire source of the

Thx,

Using nice cast with the voice over plugin to broadcast on a radio station.

2016-05-10 Thread Nektarios Mallas
Hi guys.
I am working for a radio station and I am using nice cast to broadcast my shows
to the server.
Right now, I am using Itunes to play music and other audio and use the nice
cast voice over plugin to send my microphone audio. However, I am having
difficulties making this to work properly. When I am speaking to the mike, the
music goes down very fast and comes up in a way that I don't like it at all.
If you are using nice cast to do this, any tips or help will be very much
appreciated.
If there is another way I will be very interested to know about it
Thank you very much.

Applescript Use Voiceover Find

2016-05-10 Thread Brandon A. Olivares
Hello,

I’m trying to use Applescript to enter the voiceover find dialog (vo-f), enter
some text, and then hit return to try to find that text.

I can’t seem to figure it out. With system events, I successfully got the
voiceover dialog up, but can’t search for anything.

I need to search for the character #.

Any idea how I can do this?
