Music Collector for the Mac

2016-05-22 Thread Donald Goosens
I am trying out Music Collector for the Mac and I am finding some problems with
what folders the titles are being placed in. I don’t know how to fix them.
Sometimes the CD’s go in the folder that has the letter of the first name and
then sometimes they land in the letter of the last name. Once in a while they
land in the first letter of the title instead of the group name or author. I
don’t know what keystrokes to use to fix this. If this is not an appropriate
question could somebody write me off list?

Thanks,

Donald

Re: settings for voiceover navigation

2016-05-22 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hi Ronda. Another setting I like on the Mac is to have all F1, F2 etc. as
standard function keys. With this setting checked in the keyboard section of
System Preferences, you don't have to hold the function key to toggle Voiceover
on or off or to open Voiceover utility. This is very helpful if you're using a
MacBook.

Re: Saving to Suvfolders

2016-05-22 Thread Grant
Here are three other tips which I use in open/save dialog boxes:

1. If you know what the default button is in a dialog box, such as “open” or
“save”, you can also just press ENTER to activate it. You do not need to be on
the button in question; in fact you can be on a totally different button or
control.
2. As well as the popup menu, you can use any of a series of keystrokes to jump
around in the file system. For example, to jump to your home folder, use
COMMAND+SHIFT+H. To jump to your documents folder, press COMMAND+SHIFT+O. A
list of these keystrokes can be seen in the Finder under the Go menu in the
menu bar. Anyway, these keys can also be pressed no matter where you are in the
dialog box. Since ENTER will activate a default button, such as the save button
when saving a document, you can use these hotkeys to great effect. For
instance, to save a file to your documents folder, just enter the name you’d
like your document to have, press COMMAND+SHIFT+O to select the documents
folder, then press ENTER.
3. If you need to pick a specific file or folder but the list view containing
files and folders isn’t showing up, use VO+LEFT and VO+RIGHT ARROWS to move
through the dialog until you hear “disclosure”. If it says “collapsed”, hit
VO+SPACE to expand it. This controls whether the list is shown or not. And
again, use the hotkeys like COMMAND+SHIFT+O to pick the folder where you want
to start from, then you can drill down further using the list view control to
pick, let’s say, a subfolder of the documents folder.

Hope this is of some use.

Thanks!

Grant

Re: settings for voiceover navigation

When I'm using a Mac, I like to have Quick Nav on. This way, you can move
around the screen by hitting left or right arrow. Hit the Left and Right Arrow
keys together to turn this on.

Re: How do I delete a wifi setting?

2016-05-22 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Go to System Preferences, Network, then down near the bottom of the window,
press Advanced. VO-right to the table of networks and interact with it.
Navigate to the network you wish removed, stop interacting with the table of
networks, then press the Remove button.

Navigate to the OK button and apply your changes.

BossJock Studio problems

2016-05-22 Thread Phil Halton
I’ve been using BossJock Jr. but decided to upgrade to the full studio version.
What a mistake! Junior worked great, but studio is buggy, and crashing all over
the place. I can only record and hear recordings through earbuds, and I often
get messages that the iPhone is out of storage. That’s crap, it’s a 64 GB 6S+
with over 40 GB available. Do I need to first remove Junior from my phone for
Studio to work correctly? I’ve tried rebooting, and even deleted studio and
re-downloaded it from the app store with the same buggy results.
Any help?

To the best of my knowledge, all versions of FAT were designed by Microsoft,
starting with MS-DOS and extending from there to support longer file names,
larger disks, etc. Then Windows NT introduced NTFS (still used today in
Windows 10, and no doubt also extended and improved over the years).

Some versions of Windows won't, but recent 64-bit versions will, according to
this page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GUID_Partition_Table#Windows:_64-bit_versions

I expect the Windows machine which I use at work to have a GUID partition, as
it's running UEFI and Windows 10 (64-bit).

A small but useful tip, if you press command+S, it will activate the save

Nope, didn’t work for me. It said my password is wrong, which is what others

Re: Simply safe home security systems app control

2016-05-22 Thread tim
Sorry it took me so long to reply.
I wasn’t able to get that software running on my mac. I had to use a windows
computer with JFW to use it. They use flash for there web software. Once you
get it working every part of it is readable.
You first have to plug the key fob into the main unit and then into the
computer to use the software on it. Then it will ask for the pin code witch is
the alarm turn off code. then it will let you int the software. After you made
all the changes you want it will download it back to the key fob. then plug
that back into the main unit and it will reprogram the unit.

Hello,

Is there a download source for a os10 binary of rss2email?

Looking around all I found were source code download sites.

Neither macports nor homebrew have it either.

Thanks,

Re: Questions about dictation

2016-05-22 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

dictation knows specific words like "comma", "period", and "numeral". Also,
using normal English grammatical conventions, numbers less than 10 are normally
written as words. Therefore, if you say the number "eight" in a sentence,
Dictation will put it as a word instead of the digit. If you wish it to be the
digit, say the word "numeral" prior to the word "eight". Numbers larger than
10 should automatically be entered as digits.

You can say things like "new line" if you wish to enter a carriage return.
There are some special words that are different depending on your locale such
as "period" for North American English and "full stop" in the UK.

I'm comfortable with being corrected on some of these, as I'm certainly not an
expert on the dictation feature. Apple has support documents on-line for this
as well.

Re: How to set up Facebook posts to be a text message?

2016-05-22 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Here's a post from a while back. Hopefully, it still works, although I won't
guarantee success.

Posted from earlier discussions on a list with a few clarifications:

Open the Messages app on the Mac if you haven’t done so yet

Pull down the “Messages” menu and choose “Add Account…”

>From the message account screen, choose “Other messages account…” and click on
>“Continue”

Pull down the menu next to “Account Type” and select ‘Jabber’ from the list
In “Account Name” enter your Facebook account user name as follows:

yourusern...@chat.facebook.com (the Facebook username is whatever your Facebook
profile URL is, for example: if you're logged into FaceBook on your Mac, go up
to the Address field and it should read, "www.facebook.com/your_username’
therefore, the username would be “your_usern...@chat.facebook.com” and the
account name would then be your_usern...@chat.facebook.com)
Enter your Facebook account password in the password field, this is the same
one you use to login to Facebook from the web or the apps

Ignore all other settings and choose “Create” – this will setup Facebook
messaging client and in a moment you’ll see your Facebook Friends list populate
as a buddy list, complete with friend names and friend profile pictures

Message anyone in the list as usual, the conversations are going through
Facebook Messenger

You can access the Facebook Friends buddy list at any time from the “Windows”
menu item in Messages app, where you can also set your status to be online or
offline, or away.

Are TVs do that too. We have three AppleTV fourth-generation units, and two out
of the three TVs randomly turn on. My guess is it does that when tvOS wants to
download Ariel screensaver videos.

Sainsburys entertainment app accessibility

2016-05-22 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

The nook app has ceased to work in the UK and has been taken over by Sainsburys
Entertainment. All my Nook books have now been moved to Sainsburys
Entertainment. I downloaded their app onto my iphone but I can't make it work.
Has anyone else been having problems with this app?

Many thanks

Andrew

Re: Focus Blue 40 braille display not working on the Mac computer when using Bluetooth

2016-05-22 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Kawal,

Here’s a suggestion how to make it work.
Position your left hand on the computer keyboard with your little finger on the
Command key and your index finger on the letter ‘b’. Place your right hand on
your Braille display. In this way, you only have to bring your left hand to
your right hand after pressing Cmd-b and you should have time to press the key
combination you want.

Cheers,

Anne

Hello Helga,

You can assign any combination of dots and other controls to any VO command, as
long as the combination is not already used. You can also change the command
associated with any combination of dots and controls.

2016-05-22 Thread Helga Schreiber
Hi all! How are you all? I have a question, I have the iPhone Netflix app,
but I don't have an apple TV. However, i do ahve a Mac computer, can I watch
my movies in audio description? I'm just wondering. I'm actually going to share
my brother's Netflix account, and he uses it on his mac computer, and my mom
uses it in her windows computer. Would it cause any problem if I turn audio
description on the iphone app in order to watch my movies on my mac? Just
wondering. I never watch a movie on my mac yet, so I assume I need to go to
netflix.com in order to search for the movie i want and so on right? Or Ican i
serch it on my Netfflix app,and it will come out on my Mac? I'm sorry for the
questions, I'm just very new on this! I have a 2015 Macbook Air 11 inches
computer. I will really appreciate any help you can offer me regarding this
matter! I look forward in hearing from you soon. Thanks and God bless!
