IOS 10 Beta

2016-07-30 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi List,

As we're not able to ask questions about the betas on list,
Is someone that is running the IOS 10 beta able to email me off list at:
si...@fogarty.net.nz,
or si...@blinky-net.com
so I can check something with them that I'm experiencing?

Cheers,

Simon f

Yeah. I went into Music and tried to download a couple of the songs in

Hi Chris

I don't have Apple Music. All the songs were from my personal collection.
That's why this seems so weird to me.

Chris,

I believe now that sonos andapple music do work together, this came into
action earlier this year,
Sonos also works with Spotify as well.
But off your phone is the easy one,

Hi all,

We just got a Sonos system for our deck. I just tried to play a playlist, and
the Sonos app said it couldn't play a bunch of the songs, because it could not
locate the files on my phone. I checked in the music app, and in fact, the

Re: what's the latest generation intel I want to look for in a macbook pro?

2016-07-30 Thread Terje Strømberg
I am not an expert in the aera, but i would read the computer sites and post in
their forum for new generations of Intel processors. Lately it has bin little
increase in speed i guess. The exception may be for professional area of
application. I guess the time for a new generation is the next version, but i
only read the tech news from time to time. The second best of both processor
and graphic for macbook pro i have heard is a good rule both hear at
macvisionaries and in the favorite tech site. If the budget is high.

Take care

Songs not finding files on my iPhone?

2016-07-30 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi all,

We just got a Sonos system for our deck. I just tried to play a playlist, and
the Sonos app said it couldn't play a bunch of the songs, because it could not
locate the files on my phone. I checked in the music app, and in fact, the
songs had been downloaded to my phone. Does anyone know what is causing this?
This is unacceptable, so if there's not a solution, it's going back to BestBuy
tomorrow. Thanks in advance for any help, this makes no sense to me.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: events in an email

2016-07-30 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

I'm wondering if the contact didn't really get added. There is a feature in
Contacts that reads something to the effect of "Found in Mail". So, if
Contacts finds a reference to a specific contact in a Mail message, it will be
listed in the Contacts app when you do a search. These contact references that
have been found in Mail are read only references. Check in your search results
to see if there's another result that is the actual contact card for them.

I most often used it to show hidden files infinder. It also controls to disable

2016-07-30 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi Anne,

wow, thanks for this! I didn't even know the hide command existed.

Unfortunately, bringing the mouse did not solve my problem on this page, but
it's still good to know how to do it. I'm sure I'll need it at some point in
the future. Thanks to everyone for your help with this.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: events in an email

2016-07-30 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland

Sure thing!

As far as I know, I've never actually done this, believe it or not, but I
think, if memory serves correctly, you should be able to VO+navigate over to
the event, where you hear event detected, then hit VO+Shift+M. I'll betcha
that one of the options in that context menu that pops up will be to add it
to the calendar.

Again, don't quote me on this, but I'm 95% sure you can do it like that. If
that doesn't work, let me know, and I'll figure it out for ya.

I received an email from someone listing some dates I needed to put on my
calendar. vo said “event detected”. Is there a way to have events in an
email put in your calendar; otherwise than handwriting them in?

Re: events in an email

2016-07-30 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Probably the best thing to do, is select the event with the date and time and
then paste it into the new event entry field of the calendar application.

You can also, vo-shift-M on the date and select quick look event.

This will bring up a dialog that might be usable by VoiceOver that has the
details and allows you to add a location travel time …

Note, if you calendar application has a details dialog open both the quick look
event and mail seem to become unusable in both El Capitain and Yosemite and
your only way out is to quite and start mail.

And no, I have not documented this in enough detail to report to Apple
Accessibility.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: Audio highjack echo

2016-07-30 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Are you using headphones or a headset while making the call? I expect that to
be the most the Microphone picking up your callers voice would be the most
likely culprit. Note, it is possible if you want to not have the sides of the
conversation split.

Vision AustriaAustralia gave a good demo of Hijack options when the major
version came out about a year ago.

Re: Is there a keyboard command to bring the mouse?

2016-07-30 Thread Jonathan Cohn
If you want to enforce this a bit, there is an option in the Dock section of
Tinkertool to:

When switching to application hide all others unchecked

This defaults to unchecked, and I am not sure if this is always available, or
only when "restricted finder" used by parental controls is in effect. I guess I
would need a sighted person to verify that .

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

2016-07-30 Thread Scott Granados
So I’m wondering if the pro available on the apple site now is the latest
design or is it still the old model?

I’m thinking of going for a 15 inch quad core I7 fully loaded but before I do I

Is there an easy way to tell from the web site?

Thanks

2016-07-30 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Well it depends on whether or not you have the setting for use F1, F2 etc. as
standard function keys in the keyboard preference pain of system preferences.
If that's checked, you shouldn't have to use the FN key when you press F2.

Audio highjack echo

2016-07-30 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
I am using Audiohighjack to record Skype and FaceTime calls.

The resulting recording gives me my friend’s sound in the right channel and my
sound plus an echo of my friend’s sound in the left channel.

This is most likely a result of software settings as the echo on the left does
not pick up any of the VoiceOver sounds, only the incoming audio.

How can I get good audio during the recording? I cannot think of any way to fix
this in postproduction.

I’m using Amadeus Pro to edit the recording.

You have to press command+f2 or fn+f2 if I remember correctly to bring up the

Re: RSGames

2016-07-30 Thread Saqib Hussain
Hi. I had downloaded it and it’s a bit buggy. I can’t chat with anyone as
pressing F2 doesn’t do anything and it doesn’t always announce results of each
dice roll when playing Pig. It also doesn’t announce what the other player has
purchased when playing monopoly and you have to keep checking assets that other
players have acquired.

recovering a deleted contact with El Capitan

2016-07-30 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am running the latest level of El Capitan. I use Time Machine.
Is it possible using VoiceOver and Time Machine to recover a contact I
erroneously deleted a few days ago?
Many thanks.

Re: Is there a keyboard command to bring the mouse?

2016-07-30 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Donna,

I regularly have to bring the mouse to the VoiceOver cursor and haven’t
encountered the problems Eric described. However, I am in the habit of hiding
any other open applications using the command Cmd-Option-h. This keeps the
screen clear for the current application.

Cheers,

Anne

 Hi all,

I know that may be a dumb question, but I'm thinking there is one and I

 Thanks,

Re: RSGames

2016-07-30 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Yes, once you download the Mac client you can play by yourself. However, it's
going to be online because bots are controlled by the server. Any reason why
you want it to be offline?
