Itunes accessible?

2017-04-14 Thread David Diamond
I was trying to subscribe to a podcast. I clicked on the
link to Itunes provided and could not tell if I was subscribed or not.
Also, I am having trouble even navigating ITuens with both Windows and my
mac book pro. Here is an interesting twist. Even phoning the help desk for
Apple did not really work as the service rep said the VO does not read out
everything or, specifically where you need to click.

Re: Looking for a VoiceOver Script

2017-04-14 Thread Des Delgadillo
Thanks Tim. Yes I have tried your script. My only issue is I wanted to use a
script like this in order to stream my iTunes playlist for a radio show, so a
break in the audio wouldn’t work in this particular scenario.
I think I will be using your script for recreational listening though. Thanks
again.

the best os -x ever?

2017-04-14 Thread Karen Lewellen

Hi folks,
Apple has been making the mac inclusive for several years now.
Given the experience on this list, I am curious what edition of the
platform, tiger, lion, or bear, smiles you feel is the strongest and why?
I will ask about ios separately. Am I also correct that many if not most of
you own more than one device even running more than one platform?

Thanks,

Re: Looking for a VoiceOver Script

2017-04-14 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Des,

Did you try the script I created? For me, I set Option-n to announce the next
song using my Apple Script and it works as you requested. There's about one
tenth of a second break in the current song as the script does it's thing, but
the announcement of the next song works.

Later...

RE: Shopping on Amazon using Safari on Mac OS

Morning folks,

Just a slight change in this topic

I keep hearing people talk about apple scripts to help them do out of the
ordinary things and I understand what they are but how do you setup apple
scripts / run them and also How do you setup these hot keys as well?

I know these are probably things I should be knowing but The world of MacOS &
OSX are still pretty new to me.

And where can I obtain how to documentation on how these things are done?I’m
not into scripting so any assistance is appreciated.

Cheers,

Hi there,

I’m trying to use my Apple TV 4th GEn and, for some reason, I can’t turn
Voiceover on. It indicates that it is on, but it does not speak. I have had
my children look at it.

Is there a mute feature that may have been turned on by accident?

Thx,
Jeff

Hi Paul,

Have you tried or are you able to try using the IOS Amazon app on an iPhone or
iPad?

I found it a bit nicer than the web interface.

Problem I have though is being in NZ I can't bbuy most stuff I want as it
doesn't ship down under.

Copy and paste does not work and dragging and dropping is the only

But the drag and drop thing does not work properly for me.
When i am on the file i want to drag I press vo , and then command
tab to file transfer for android.
Here is a table and i have went down to the specific folder i want
the file to be stored to.
I have opened it with command down arrow.
Now i press vo and the period sign then i see a dialog with the file

Why must it be so difficult to have another operating system than the

I wouldn't use FTP for that but it's really up to the individual.

Re: Getting Rid of Old Email Addresses That Show Up In the Native Mail App

2017-04-14 Thread Alex Hall
In Mail, go to the Window menu, down to Previous Recipients, and open that. (I
think that's what it's called). You'll find a simple window: a search field and
a table of past mail recipients. Find any you want gone, and delete them. I
don't recall if just the delete key works, or if you need cmd-delete.

Hello Gerry,

I use Safari to access that site. If you simply use the elements list. Viewing

In my previous I forgot to mention System Access cloud OCR service.

Anyway, you seemed to be more obsessed with convincing yourself you’ve got the

Getting Rid of Old Email Addresses That Show Up In the Native Mail App

2017-04-14 Thread Brian Hansen
Using the latest version of MacOS, how do I get rid of old email addresses that
pop up when I go to compose a new mail message? I checked the contact, and the
correct email address is the only one showing, but when I create a new email
message, I’m given the choice of the old address, as well as the current one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,

Brian

2017-04-14 Thread CHUCK REICHEL
Hi Tim,
Yes keyboard commander for sure!
I use the "slash key for mouse down" and the "Star key" on the num pad for
mouse up.
I use this all the time in avid's pro tools for moving tracks around and
copying inserts from track to track.
for me since the slash is to the left of the star key It reminds me of being
the first thing to do which is to "mouse down" on the thing to be moved then I
navigate with the "VO hot spots" to where I drop the track with the "star key"
which is physically next to the slash key.
Keeps things in perspective for me, like signal flow in the audio field! :)

The volume was up as I could hear it say “Voiceover” when I triple tap the menu
button.

I have solved the problem…Apparently the 3rd restart is the charm…Guess there
was a glitch.

Hi there,

I’m trying to use my Apple TV 4th GEn and, for some reason, I can’t turn
Voiceover on. It indicates that it is on, but it does not speak. I have had
my children look at it.

Is there a mute feature that may have been turned on by accident?

Thx,

RE: Shopping on Amazon using Safari on Mac OS

2017-04-14 Thread daj.griffith
I have not been on Amazon on the Mac for a while and am not sure if this is
the problem you are encountering but a known problem was that they introduced a
carousel of suggested items which goes around and around which many
screenreaders struggle to cope with or get out of by normal navigation.

If you are stuck in this Carousel the advice used to be to navigate out of this
carousel by using the heading command to navigate either up or down.
Typically in my experience you will get this carousel of suggested items to
purchase after making a purchase and at other times also.

After using the heading command then basically try and navigate away from this
page dominated by the carousel to a normal search page.

Hello,
I am using VoiceOver with the latest Safari on the latest El Capitan on my late
2008 iMac.
I have just had a very frustrating time trying to shop on Amazon. I have not
done this for several months and it used to be pretty simple. but things seem
to have recently changed and I now keep getting unwanted pop-up windows which I
cannot make go away. In particular I keep getting a pop-up window showing the
customer review ratings for an item I am trying to look at. This pop-up windows
has a “close” button which I hoped would make the pop-up go away but that
button seems to have no effect.
I also get pop-up windows about other sellers and thereby get totally lost on
the Amazon site.
These problems only seem to happen while shopping on Amazon. Other sites behave
well.
Any suggestions on what is going on and what to do about it?
Many thanks.

Re: File transfer for mac and Voiceover.

2017-04-14 Thread Erik Burggraaf

Hi Anders,

The android file transfer for mac is deficient as you saw. I also tried an
android app called droidnas. This is a very cool idea. You can get it
from the play store. I didn't get it to work but could be they have
improved it or something about your devices will click.

Sharing a folder via ftp from your mac is a fabulous idea. Turbo ftp from
the play store is accessible and you can do the transfers quickly over wifi.

I think ES file explorer now has a network transfer option so you could
look at that.

Finally there is tonido personal cloud and it's companion android app which
also should work but provide you more flexible options such as secure
streaming of media.

I lost interest in this topic when my mac went off to the great electronics
recycler in the sky, but I did try to start a discussion on inclusive
android when it was something I needed hard core and couldn't get. You
could try renewing that topic and see if any one else has ideas.

Hope this helps,

Erik

Copy and paste does not work and dragging and dropping is the only way to
move files.

But the drag and drop thing does not work properly for me.
When i am on the file i want to drag I press vo , and then command tab to
file transfer for android.
Here is a table and i have went down to the specific folder i want the file
to be stored to.

I have opened it with command down arrow.
Now i press vo and the period sign then i see a dialog with the file and
after a while i hear that the dragging and dropping was unsuccessful.

Why must it be so difficult to have another operating system than the mac?

Re: Looking for a VoiceOver Script

2017-04-14 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

If I could just figure out how to access the "Up Next" list, this might be even
more useful.

Hi,

I've modified one of my scripts to do what you're asking. It's not perfect,
but it does the job. Basically, when you run it, it skips forward, takes note
of the track, then flips back to the same time as when you left. You'll hear a
very short pause in the current song, but nothing to write home about. As
always, for best results, it is best to set up a keyboard commander for this
script. It's named "Announce Next Song" and can be found in the iTunes folder
at the following link.

Well, neither of those worked. The current playlist doesn't seem to change as
songs are played, and when I started playing my music in random order, the
first item in the current playlist was not the first item to be played.

I also looked at the miniplayer with up next as the view, and if one sets a hot
spot on the table of up-next, it lets you know the hotspot data was deleted
after the song on the hotspot is played. So the hot spot is associated with
the song in the up-next and not with the play order if that makes sense.

So it looks like to Apple You must go!

Best Wishes,

Jonathan

Alex,
I noticed two possibilities but cannot test on my current system.

1. current playlist might actually be the "up next" list.
2. placing a hotspot on the first column first row of the up next list and then
speaking that hot spot.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that's not possible. I just looked in
iTunes' scripting dictionary, and there's no mention of accessing up next

(www.apple.com/feedback ), but it's not
currently available as far as I could tell.

Re: File transfer for mac and Voiceover.

2017-04-14 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Scot,

You could always set up your own easier key combination for the mouse down and
mouse up actions in the Keyboard commander. I think I used the letter d for
mouse down and shift-d for the up. Yeah, I understand, our old brains can't
always fathom these multi-key commands, especially when they expect t"Twister"
style finger movement ;).

How do i transfer files from the mac to android via the file transfer app?
Copy and paste does not work and dragging and dropping is the only way to

But the drag and drop thing does not work properly for me.
When i am on the file i want to drag I press vo , and then command tab to
 file transfer for android.
Here is a table and i have went down to the specific folder i want the
 file to be stored to.
I have opened it with command down arrow.
Now i press vo and the period sign then i see a dialog with the file and
after a while i hear that the dragging and dropping was unsuccessful.
Why must it be so difficult to have another operating system than the mac?

Re: epson XP530

2017-04-14 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello,

Have you checked to see if the manual is available on the web? See link below.

http://www.service.braun.com/home.asp?c=US=GB=ui

If you need to OCR it. To my knowledge Abbyy Fine Reader OCR is what we use on
the Mac platform.

Always search the web first.
