RE: Going Insane Looking for USB Devices on My MacBook Air

2018-05-28 Thread Simon Fogarty
Kristine,

What is the name or label on the USB flash drive you are using?

When your in computer that's the command shift c that alex mentioned,
Are you able to tab through the different devices
Also listen for any lists or tables that might require expansion!

But if you've not yet tried have a look at things with disk utility and see
what external devices are connected.

Re: Is there an easy way to do math on the Mac?

2018-05-28 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Desmos can even show Unicode braille on a Macintosh. You have a choice of
UEB or Nemeth. I don’t know if it works for all of the products though. I
believe it also accepts Braille input, though you would need to be using
eight dot computer braille in order for that to work properly.

Re: HTML recommendation

2018-05-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

I've just used TextEdit for this sort of thing. When you open TextEdit, then
create a new document, press cmd-shift-t to make the document into plain text
mode. You're able to enter your HTML within there now. When you go to save
it, put the html extension on the end instead of .txt. If you save the html
document to the Desktop, or wherever, you can then just press cmd-o to open it
and it will open in Safari for checking.

Others may know some good editors, but, for my limited uses, TextEdit has
worked fine.

Re: Going Insane Looking for USB Devices on My MacBook Air

2018-05-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Just to confirm that the device is actually functioning, go to your Desktop,
then VO-m to access the menubar, right to the Go menu, down to Utilities. In
the Utilities folder, locate Disk Utility and open it. After it's open, locate
the table and interact with it. Does it show the USB connected device or
devices here? If it does, then we know that the device is being read by the
Mac, and we can go from here to determine a few other things.

HTML recommendation

2018-05-28 Thread Angus MacKinnon
My iMac is using OS 10.11.6. during my Windows 7 days, I use to hand code HTML
documents in a text editor. Is their a good Text Editor for OS 10.11.6? Should
I just stick to Hand Coding HTML? Or is their a good HTML Editor that works
with VoiceOver? Thank you for all responses.

This was precisely my experience with Com Pilot as well.
The Audiology centre then changed my hearing aids so I could not use it any
more anyway.
I would steer well away from these products.
It was me that recommended the Amazon speaker.

I just got a ComPilot to connect my Phonak Nathos S+ Wireless hearing aid to my
iPhone 7 Plus via Bluetooth. The results were very disappointing. The ComPilot
made things more tinny and when I tried using BlindSquare, as soon as the GPS
navigation app started speaking, the robotic ComPilot voice interrupted to
announce “Bluetooth audio”! This obliterated tge first sentence of what
BlindSquare was telling me. When BlindSquare stopped speaking, two seconds
later ComPilot played tge “goodbye” beeps and stopped streaming. And when
BlindSquare started speaking again, ComPilot obliterated that by announcing
“Bluetooth audio” - and so it went on. I wrote to the manufacturer who sent me
a form to print out to return it. I don’t know if all Phonak models react like
this?
A cautionary tale!
Oh, by the way, the Amazon Basics waterproof and shockproof speaker someone on
the list recommended is wonderful!

Subject: Using Hearing aids with Iphone, anyone has experience?

Hello,
I also live in the UK and have NHS hearing aids 1 for each ear. I use
Music-Link+ stereo silhouette earhooks  available from www.connevans.co.uk for
about £20. These hook over my behind the ear hearing aid to drive the inductive
loop system in the hearing aid. They plug into the 3.5 mm audio jack socket on
my iPhone 5S. I also use them with my iPod nano. I find the audio quality
satisfactory and there are no delays as reported by others for bluetooth
hearing aids.
My hearing aids are set up to be independently adjustable for program and
volume. Thus I can put both earhooks over one hearing aid to listen the iPhone
while leaving the other hearing aid to listen to what is happening around me.
At other times I can put each earhook over each hearing aid to fully enjoy
music and drama in stereo. As they plug into the audio jack socket of my iPod
Nano they connecting cable acts as an aerial for the FM radio in the iPod nano
which I use a lot. Alas Apple has discontinued the iPod Nano so when mine no
longer works I will miss FM radio. My iPhone is pay as you go so live radio
will be expensive away from my wifi. It would be great if the iPhone included
FM radio!
Hope this helps….
