Google drive storage

2019-05-13 Thread Lorie McCloud
I've discovered that just about everything I deleted from Google Drive on my
computer staid in my Google Drive on the web. is there a way to set it to just
delete completely anything I delete from the folder on my computer so I don't
have to go up to the web and do it?

thanks.

Re: Song Counts

2019-05-13 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

Tim,
I may look for those 3 when I am bored. (smiles) One thing I found
was that since it seems purchased music is not syncing, the changes I
made to a couple albums on the Mac are not showing on the iPhone. A note
of interest...these are the same two albums where some of the songs have
the AAC kind. Think it would be worth deleting them?

Hi,

Usually, anything purchased from iTunes should read as "Purchased AAC
Audio File".  A plain old AAC Audio File is one that iTunes may have
converted itself when importing a CD or other media into iTunes.  Now,
that's a "usually", so, if it's misbehaving, then I'd have to play with
it more.  It sounds like you're fine with it now, so, so am I :).

The Purchased AAC Audio files are, of course, those that you purchased

an mp3.  If it says AAC Audio File, then it is an Apple AAC file.
Regarding the checked items thing, in the Summary pane, if the item is
checked to only sync checked music, then once you applied the change,
all the unchecked items would have been automatically removed from the
iPhone.

I like having the "kind" displayed.  When in iTunes, press cmd-j to
bring up View options, navigate through the list and check it.  This
may help us determine if any of your music is of a kind that is not
supported on the iOS device.

Re: MLB TV on Apple TV: how to find archive games

2019-05-13 Thread Mary Otten
If you have a subscription to MLB TV, which I do through T-Mobile, I can get to
the archives on my phone. I just don’t want to use my phone battery so much
when I have a perfectly good Apple TV. I believe I can also get to them on the
Fire TV if I can ever get logged in.

MLB TV on Apple TV: how to find archive games

2019-05-13 Thread Mary Otten
I can’t seem to find a way to access archived games on the Apple TV version of
MLB. I’m seeing our tabs for scores, settings, and standings. But I’m not
finding anyway to access anything previous, much less news or anything like
that. What am I missing?

That has worked for me, taking breaks! When you want to do all the
songs in n album, select album in the sidebar, jump to the album table
with command j. Select the album and do another jump.

Hi,

Totally doable.  Simply select the song, songs, or titles within an

Petrus,
Editing a single song or multiple songs is the same process except
you will be prompted to confirm that you want to multiple items.

Find the song you want to edit and press command i for Get Info. You
will land on the Details button which is selected by default. VO right
to the details scroll area and interact with it. Scroll down to genre
and press VO space on the combo box and choose the genre. Stop
interacting and navigate to the Ok button and press it. You're done.

A MacBook Pro keyboard question?

2019-05-13 Thread Maurice Mines
Hello everyone, my keyboard question is simply this when I’m using my
boot camp area of my MacBook Pro, meaning running Windows since I am
frequent jaws user. I’m wondering what on the Mac Pro keyboard
constitutes using the insert key? Since as we all know Mac machines do
not have an insert key. If one uses jaws for Windows in the boot camp
area, using that in certain key for jaws commands becomes pretty
important. If there is no method of doing the insert key what are some
workarounds? I do know about Sharkey’s but then that creates problems
on the Mac side of the machine so I would prefer not to do that. Because
that would cause more trouble than it’s worth. Thank whoever can
answer this question in advance for a

Re: Shuffling music by genre in IOS?

2019-05-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi Petrus,

You can change the genre of however many songs you want at a time. In fact,
you could change the genre of your entire library if you so chose. Simply
select the song, songs, album, or whatever combination of things you wish to
change all at once, press cmd-i to Get Info, or VO-shift-m to bring up the
Contextual menu and choose Info. In the Info dialog, in the Details Scroll
area, set the Genre to whatever you wish and VO-space on OK to apply it. Even
if the albums are in Grid view, you can change details from there. It's a
slightly different process, but I think you'd figure it out.

Yes, I remember the old music stores, I did my first over seas trip in the mid

know if they still exist. It was very hard to find heavy metal music in New

Yes, you can change the genre of an entire album. Just select all the songs on
that album before pressing Command-I. then any changes you make will be
applied to all selected songs. In fact, if all you're doing is changing the
genre, you could select multiple albums all at once.

Re: Song Counts

2019-05-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Usually, anything purchased from iTunes should read as "Purchased AAC Audio
File". A plain old AAC Audio File is one that iTunes may have converted itself
when importing a CD or other media into iTunes. Now, that's a "usually", so,
if it's misbehaving, then I'd have to play with it more. It sounds like you're
fine with it now, so, so am I :).

Don't understand this as its 20 out of 86 songs purchased from the iTunes store.

Two, apparently I don't need to sync the purchased music because its already
on my devices.

So the final count matches, just off by 3 now. Close enough. :)

I totally get that. And, crossing genre lines is trendy. But still, if we
still had brick and mortar record stores, you'd find this artist in one genre.
Unless s/he did something like record an album of jazz classics or something
like that that was a clear step out of the usual genre, all his/her music would
be together in one place.

Re: Shuffling music by genre in IOS?

2019-05-13 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

Donna,
When browsing music on Amazon, I would see many albums having more
than one genre. I surmise that many artists dabble in more than one
genre as they follow their own conception of what is what.

I recently heard about one such artist on PBS in a news story. He
does not know which genre his music falls into!

Re: Song Counts

2019-05-13 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries
Ok what throws me off track is two things. One, the items with the
AAC kind. Don't understand this as its 20 out of 86 songs purchased from
the iTunes store.

Two, apparently I don't need to sync the purchased music because its
already on my devices.

So the final count matches, just off by 3 now. Close enough. :)

Regarding the checked items thing, in the Summary pane, if the item is
checked to only sync checked music, then once you applied the change,
all the unchecked items would have been automatically removed from the
iPhone.

may help us determine if any of your music is of a kind that is not

I seem to be able to get the Genre button to appear is by selecting
downloaded music. When I'm in downloaded music and have Genre
selected, I can hit Shuffle, and all is well. But is there any way to
get the Genre button to appear without limiting myself to downloaded
 music? Running latest IOS.
 Thanks,
 Donna

Re: Shuffling music by genre in IOS?

2019-05-13 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Lol. It is. But I don't understand why this problem exists in the first
place. In the old days, when one would actually go into a record store, it
wasn't like you had to go get a sales person and ask what genre every artist
was classified under. And while there were some artists that recorded in
different genres, you would generally find all of an artists albums in the same
place.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi,

I've heard that patients aren't only those things that Doctors have. I've
heard something about it being a virtue or something silly like that. Rather
frustrating that things take practice and patience to learn, I'd much rather it
just come to me through osmosis. Doesn't seem to sink in as fast anymore
either as everyone around me gets older, but I don't.

Re: Song Counts

2019-05-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

The Purchased AAC Audio files are, of course, those that you purchased from the
iTunes Store. If it says MPEG Audio File, then it is likely an mp3. If it
says AAC Audio File, then it is an Apple AAC file.

Regarding the checked items thing, in the Summary pane, if the item is checked
to only sync checked music, then once you applied the change, all the unchecked
items would have been automatically removed from the iPhone.

Re: reinstalling mac OS?

2019-05-13 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello,

I think you are really asking about partition management. If when installing
Mac OS and you choose the right partition then you will not mess up your
bootcamp partition. Bootcamp utility may have some record of the bootcamp
partition removed after a reinstall of MacOS but I think it will manage to
detect and allow you to remove the bootcamp partition should you wish. If not,
it is easy to remove manually. The bootcamp utility is a simple utility to
manage partitioning and formatting in respect of the removal of a bootcamp
partition that can be done manually. It is not easy to manually install a
bootcamp partition i.e. the other way around but you didn’t ask about that.

A belt and braises approach would be to remove the Bootcamp partition. Then
reinstall MacOS. Then reinstall Windows. It is only my personal view but such
an approach is overkill. I would not hesitate to reinstall MacOS and keep my
bootcamp and Windows install. It does not have to be sacrificed. But if it did
it would be easy to rebuild the system as desired.

Of course, ensure that you have several backups of each system. You can backup
files and or make images of each partition. Ensure you know and understand the
names of the partitions on your disk, typically Macintosh HD containing Mac OS
and Bootcamp containing Windows.

Incidentally reinstallation should only be necessary to achieve updated OS. If
for some other reason it is important to understand why such a step is
necessary. Otherwise, operator mistakes will continue and nothing is learnt.

Re: Windows 10 Releaces to install on my mac mini

2019-05-13 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello Simon,
Here’s the link i used.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

Only the updates from 2018 are available. Is there another page I should use?
Also, can this release be used as an installer for Boot Camp from scratch?
Thanks.

very well and is fully accessible during installation And then once
you have that installed you can update to 1809 with out issue and

I've been able to set this up 5 times this year on different machines

 Hope this helps.

Subject: Windows 10 Releaces to install on my mac mini

 Hi list,
Here’s another question regarding installing windows 10 on my new mac mini
 OS X 14.4.
I know there were some problems with installing the October 2018 release
of windows 10. I also know that the April 2018 release of windows worked
ok for installing on the mac.
 Here’s my question.
When will this year’s April release be available for mac users to download
 and install?
 TIA.

You can use VoiceOver in the terminal, but it doesn't work very well. If you're
reading output of a program, and new text comes in, VoiceOver will immediately
begin reading the new text.

Haven't had time yet, but I think I'm just going to take Tim's suggestion, and
check the option to not have it included in Shuffle.

Re: How about some Linux with your Windows 10 Bootcamp?

2019-05-13 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello Karen,

I have only used linux applications a nd utilities that run from the command
line. So if you think VoiceOVer works consistently in the terminal then the
answer is yes. However, if you are frustrated over the way in which VoiceOver
works in the terminal then the answer to your question is no. I know quite a
few people advocate using emacspeak to overcome VoiceOver limitations in the
Mac terminal.

Re: Song Counts

2019-05-13 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries
I'm learning. :) I used cmd-j again and took my time looking at the
dialog and found the "kind" option. While there, I unchecked a couple
other useless items.

Here is what "kind" got me. "Purchased AAC audio file". But this is
not on all of the songs, less than half.

Still don't understand all the purchased albums remaining on the
iPhone after unchecking sync.

I like having the "kind" displayed.  When in iTunes, press cmd-j to
bring up View options, navigate through the list and check it.  This may
help us determine if any of your music is of a kind that is not
supported on the iOS device.

or by iCloud status if that is a column.  You can press cmd-j to bring
up the View options if "kind" is not one of the headers.  If you sort
by "iCloud Status", then you may find some "ineligible" titles.  If
you sort by "Kind", you may find some pdf or Album Jacket kinds of

Re: Song Counts

2019-05-13 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

No to the first question. Yes I want to sync all of my music.

I did use cmd-j and did not see a "kind" option. I had already
deleted those digital booklets and the song count remained the same. I
think I tried the "iCloud status" but will try that again in a while.

reinstalling mac OS?

2019-05-13 Thread Matt

Hi folks.

Was doing some thinking.

If I erase the drive and reinstall the OS, will it mes up the bootcamp side?

Then after I've reinstalled the OS, then decide I want to erase the
bootcamp side with bootcamp will that work?

RE: Windows 10 Releaces to install on my mac mini

2019-05-13 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Danny,

There is an 18 03 and 18 09,
But as of Friday 10 may, there is a small update labelled as 1904
It's not that large a size infact it took less than 10 minutes to install

So it's out there,

Hello Simon,
I just checked and the only thing I see on the microsoft page is april and
october 2018. Then I found something regarding that this latest update is only
for testers.
I’ll check back later with the microsoft download page.
