Re: Requesting Information on Checkwriting Apps

2019-06-16 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
Hi,

I never used the raised-line checks. Bank of America used to work with a
company called Deluxe Checking which provided customers with checks which were
the size of a piece of typing paper which a hole punched on the left side and
it made it easy to write checks. But they don’t work with this company any
more.

Thanks Tim yes I honestly love my Touch Bar now and find that I use formatting
tools much more than I used to and can create better documents because it is
quicker to change fonts and styles etc once you get used to how the Touch Bar
works.

I also find that I can turn VO on and off just with the triple click without
the cmd button

Re: Arranging my contacts, Icloud, gmail or what?

2019-06-16 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

For Google accounts, make sure that you've checked the Contacts options in
Internet Accounts for the Google account. Now, it doesn't always specifically
create cards for these individuals, but they are a part of the Contacts
directory. The reason I say this, is that it depends on whether you're in a
Google domain of sorts, such as G Suite for Business or G Suite for Education,
or a regular G Mail account. Now, if the Google contact entries don't show up
as vCards, then you can still search for them and they will show up, or you can
search for them, then export them and re-import them as contact vCards.
Probably a little cumbersome in that respect, but if all you wish to use them
for is easy entry into the Mail app, then they will be remembered, or given as
options when adding recipients in an eMail message. I hope this makes sense.

Later...

Re: New macs without function keys

2019-06-16 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

That was an excellent synopsis Julie. The only thing that I'd add is that many
of the functions you're used to using with VO, such as VO-f8, can easily be
accessed without using the TouchBar itself. You can add FN to your key
combination and just press the #8. So, for VO-f8, press VO-FN-8 for the same
command. This works well for Application and Window Chooser actions. Also,
for turning on/off VO, you can just press the cmd key, then the
power/finger-print button three times.

Later...

To get the function keys you simply use the FN key first and then the function

My honest advice though is just explore and you will quickly be using it
effectively because you can run your finger along to find out what is their
without activating anything it is easy to explore etc.

I find it really helpful for doing formatting etc in pages because you get the
most useful functions on the Touch Bar so you can get to them quickly etc.

Hope this helps
