Adjusting the Option+T Date/Time Announcement

2020-02-02 Thread Dave Carlson
When pressing Option+T an Apple script runs to announce the date and time. I
would like the date to announce the day of week, in addition to the month, day,
and year, followed by time. How do I edit the scripts to accomplish this?

Re: Problem with Reminders

2020-02-02 Thread Brad Snyder
The problem could be that your wife is still running a version of iOS 12 on her
device.
The Reminders app changed in iOS 13 and macOS Catalina, and is not compatible
with earlier versions of Reminders.

Problem with Reminders

2020-02-02 Thread N2KPV
So recently my wife tried to share a Reminder with me and a friend . For
some reason I was unable to accept the invitation on my iPhone xr and my
iMac which are both running the latest operating systems . Although the
shared reminders did show up on my macbook pro which is runnning Mojave, it
also showed up on my older iPad .
Has anyone else had this problem . I hope I explained it correctly .

Re: PDF reader for Mac?

2020-02-02 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
I’ve used ABBYY FineReader on a Windows machine, but not yet the Mac version.
It can convert scholarly papers quite well (with quality depending, of course,
on that of the original image). It recognizes headings, footnotes, etc., and
converts them to the appropriate word processor styles. For me, these features
are highly desirable.

I don’t know whether there are other tools with similar capabilities so far as
recognizing document structure is concerned.

Re: How do I share an EPUB file in books with someone?

2020-02-02 Thread 'Sabahattin Gucukoglu' via MacVisionaries
OK, well the situation has improved slightly, in that I now have single items
being copied from the list view in Books into a list in Finder using
drag-and-drop. But still no joy with multi-select.

The difference: use the Catalina version of Books, instead of the Mojave one.
Apparently there are differences sufficient to make this work.

Given that Windows users have *no* way to export Books out of iOS but iCloud
Drive, and then only to other copies of Books for iOS, I really ought to be
happier about this situation. But strangely, I’m not …

Editing a checklist note

2020-02-02 Thread John JD Denning
OK, I’m finding this frustrating can somebody give me some tips. It’s easy to
create a checklist note and add items to it. But when I want to go back and add
more items after I have done the initial list I find it really hard to get the
keyboard back. Usually you just double tap on a note and the keyboard comes
out. But if you double tap any place it just checks or on checks wherever the
focus is. I try to move the focus to the end to no avail.

Any tips?

Re: PDF reader for Mac?

2020-02-02 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hello Tim and everyone else who responded. I will give this one a try.
However I also want to share that I have just opened an inaccessible PDF
inside Google Docs and was able to read it and edit it. So, even if I
don't end up finding a Mac-only solution to my liking, at least I am
reassured that Google Docs will do this. Plus, it's cross-platform to
boot. I regularly use Google Chrome and various Google apps from my
Macbook, so my workflow won't have to change with this approach.

There are other solutions including KNFB, just not sure of the levels of
accessibility of them.

Re: PDF reader for Mac?

2020-02-02 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, I don't think I've ever seen Mac apps have the same payment
authorization as iOS apps. Take Twitterrific for example, you can
purchase the iOS version but the Mac version is still a separate
purchase. Same with Fantastical. In the case of that app, there are
three purchases; Mac, iOS and iPadOS. It's true however, that many iOS
apps will work just the same on iPad but not all.

I hope this makes sense.
