Re: A question about the music app

2021-11-02 Thread Brad Snyder
You can no longer change the setting in the Music app, so that items played are
not automatically added to your library.
This option was removed a while back, when the app was still called iTunes.

To avoid adding played items to my library, I use QuickTime player, which is a
stock app, included on your Mac.

Additionally, I use Get Info to change the default application for most
commonly played music file-types to QuickTime Player, to help avoid
accidentally adding items to my Music library unintentionally.

That tells me how much space remains on any of my connected volumes. But I need
to know where the space is being gobbled up, as in what type of file, or files
associated with particular apps, are consuming such-and-such amount of disk

A slight correction:
When navigating to the bottom of an email, and placing focus on an attachment,
you want to press VO + Spacebar, not VO + SHIFT + Spacebar, to open a shortcut
menu with saving options.,

Hello, Ics files are plain text files, though I don't remember the date format
they use for dates. The apple mail calandars do not actually automattically
import ICS when they open dem but instead present a dialog where you can
review and choose a calindar to add them to or cancel i'mport.
I expect the thmat has progressed some but these have been around for about 10
years.

Re: .ics invites and Google Calendar

2021-11-02 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
If Apple’s Calendar application can access Google Calendar, then you could import the meeting invitations into Apple’s Calendar application. I suspect this is the default application for handling the file if you open it from the Finder or from a terminal with the open command. Thus the first step would be to add your Google account to the Mac so the calendar can access it. On 11/2/21, 14:52, "'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries" wrote:When someone sends me a calendar invite via a .ics file, what's myeasiest path to add that data into Google Calendar? Frankly, what's the easiest way to see the date and time proposed forthe meeting while in Mail? Thanks for all suggestions. Janina --  Janina Sajkahttps://linkedin.com/in/jsajkaLinux Foundation FellowExecutive Chair, Accessibility Workgroup:  http://a11y.orgThe World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)Co-Chair, Accessible Platform Architectures  http://www.w3.org/wai/apa-- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. If you have any questions or concerns about the running of this list, or if you feel that a member's post is inappropriate, please contact the owners or moderators directly rather than posting on the list itself. Your Mac Visionaries list moderator is Mark Taylor.  You can reach mark at:  mk...@ucla.edu and your owner is Cara Quinn - you can reach Cara at caraqu...@caraquinn.com The archives for this list can be searched at:http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries@googlegroups.com/--- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to macvisionaries+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com.To view this discussion on the web visit https://groups.google.com/d/msgid/macvisionaries/YYGIz4PIU9SyZIBX%40rednote.net.

Re: A question about the music app

2021-11-02 Thread Herbie Allen
Your best bet is to either launch the file in Quicktime, or download an app
like VLC Media Player. You can do VO shift M on the file and go to open with,
or Command I and set one of those apps as default.

.ics invites and Google Calendar

2021-11-02 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
When someone sends me a calendar invite via a .ics file, what's my
easiest path to add that data into Google Calendar?

Frankly, what's the easiest way to see the date and time proposed for
the meeting while in Mail?

Thanks for all suggestions.

How to Determine Where My Hard Disk Space is Being Consumed

2021-11-02 Thread Dave Carlson
I’m looking for somewhere on the Mac OS where I can look at how my hard disk
space is being used. My old Mojave is pretty large (350+ Gb) and the APFS is
crowding out my new install of Catalina on a second APFS.
