and it looks very accessible.

Re: VR streams on a mac?

The stream works great. The only thing you'll need is the new softpack add on
to listen to books from Audible or music from ITunes. The new additional
software interacts with ITunes now and that makes everything accessible.

Good luck and enjoy your stream...

They just came out with a new update to the VRStream software and are offering
an additional softpack for $49.00 that will work with ITunes and your Mac.

You can find it at http://www.humanware.com

Under shopping and the VR Stream softpack.

I haven't purchased it yet but figure at some point I will.

Re: Authorizing Audible to Play on Victor Stream Using a Mac

2010-06-13 Thread Kevin Mattingly
I'll give it some time this afternoon and test. If I can get it to work, I'll
post back. I'm new to this thing too and haven't had the chance to work through
ever issue As someone mentioned earlier, your authorization may be on your old
PC. If you knew the name of the file, you might be ablew to find it.

Re: Solona command line

2010-06-13 Thread Kevin Mattingly
I don't really know what solona is but if you're in the command line for the
mac, you use cd for (change directory) like in dos. When you use the terminal
program, you're in the home directory for your user ID. In that directory are
folders or directories like downloads, documents and so on. If you want to go
to one of those directories, you'd use cd documents or downloads or whatever
the directory name is. To get help in this command line, use the command man
and then the command you want to use. Examples are man ls (List Directory), Man
cp (copy files), man mv (move files). These are command unix commands for
moving in the directory structure of the Mac. You man be able to use a man -k
command to look up keywords for things you may want to do. If I'm whistling
into the wind here, sorry about that. If not, good luck and I hope this helps.

I haven't worked with the voice mail setup since I did it the first time, so I
can't help you there. As for the voices, you're stuck with Samantha for now I
believe. I don't see an option to change the voice. the accessibility button is
on the next screen within general. In other words, use the 3 finger flip up to
go to the next page in general under settings.

Commentary | Quick Nav on the Mac

2010-06-27 Thread Kevin Mattingly
I've found that using the quick nav key settings has really helped me out
moving around on web pages. I have a Mac bluetooth keyboard that is setup more
like the macbook. The quick nav allows a nice alternative to the numpad on a
full sized keyboard.

Re: Using a Mac Mini without a monitor

2010-06-27 Thread Kevin Mattingly
I'm not sure about the new Mini but mine requires one for Safari. Everything
else runs fine. Have you thought about getting a KVM to use? That would allow
you to use a single monitor on multiple computers.

Re: KNFB Reader iPhone App

2014-09-19 Thread Kevin Mattingly
I've only tried to read a couple of things. I'd let it read a guitar strings
package and it read just about everything on there that I could ever want it
too. I had it read a check and it read the check label, the description of the
pattern based on the fact that it was a check with kiss on it. It just seems
like it just gets it. I agree that the cameras placement has been a pain with
other apps. I used it to read the screen on my refrigerator too. It did a
pretty good job there as well.

Re: KNFB Reader iPhone App

2014-09-21 Thread Kevin Mattingly
In 1990 Vocational Rehab and an associated State organization for unemployment
purchased the Kurzweil personal reader for me. That purchase and the
technology opened a door to employment for me. Since that experience, I would
recommend anything developed by Kurzweil. It worked then and it works now.

BARD or Clock Issue and IOS8.02

2014-09-28 Thread Kevin Mattingly
To use a sleep timer with the application BARD you must use the clock and have
the time set to stop playing after a given amount of time. Mine is not working
at all. Has anybody else noticed this issue?

If so, is it a clock issue or is it related to BARD? Sent from my iPhone

Re: Vo and Citrix?

2012-02-14 Thread Kevin Mattingly
Based on my experience, you'd need be facing the same challenges with VO as you
do with Windows and JAWS. If you're logging into a windows virtual environment,
you'd need to be using a fusion like product to run windows and JAWS on your
mac. I'm not aware of any Mac virtual environments being setup using that
configuration but in my opinion, you'd need to run VO on the virtual machine to
get the access.

I know this isn't a true yes or no answer but its the best I have with my
limited experience. It does sound like fun though.

Good luck,

Question About Flash

I subscribe to a site that shows video sports features from time to time. I
have installed the click to flash and the youtube5 extension. In the past I was
able to navigate to a frame on the page, interact with it and then start the
video. For the past few weeks I've been getting the following error 404 Error
loading Vimeo video. I've googled it but haven't really found anything to go on
so far. Anyone have any ideas?

Safari and Craigs LIst

2013-04-02 Thread Kevin Mattingly
I'm running the latest version of Mountain Lion and when I go to Craigslist and
open the classified adds (individual items for sale), safari crashes on me. I
can look at one add, go back and then when I try and open the next one, safari
crashes. Does anyone have any idea what may be happening or has anyone else
experienced this crash?

Safari Behavior on the Mac vs IPhone

I subscribe to a rivals sports site and generally after every game, they put up
video of coaches and players. The videos are imbedded into the page. I can't
access the play buttons on the Mac but can on the IPhone. Does anyone have an
idea as to how I might get those buttons to show up on safari on the mac?

Re: Lion, a lemon?

2011-11-11 Thread Kevin Mattingly
I've been using lion since it came out. When I first upgraded, the mail drove
me nuts. I'm past the mail issues and have gotten real comfortable with it. The
safari busy message has happened more but mostly whenI moved to a previous
page. I started using the command LeftArrow to move back and that seemed to
help. The disabling of plugins in the security settings for safari has helped
too. I need to turn those on when doing something with youtube but that isn't
often. The truth is that my experience wasn't great at first but the longer I
work with it, figure out work arounds, I really like it. If you're frustrated
with safari, have someone explain to you what is happening on the screen. It
can help you determine how to make it work for you.

Mail Folders Question

2011-11-12 Thread Kevin Mattingly
Hey guys,

I used to have a personal folder in my list of mailboxes or folders. How do you
find those folders again?

Re: accessible banking?

2011-11-16 Thread Kevin Mattingly
I use Bank Of America and Wells Fargo. I work for Wells Fargo and believe me
they care about accessibility. My experience with Bank Of America has been good
too though.

Re: accessible banking?

2011-11-16 Thread Kevin Mattingly
Yes...

Using VoiceOver and Lion.

I login, check balances, make transfers and pay bills. I've been successful
with both banking sites. If you have specific issues, you can call either bank
and they'll try and help you. I have personally helped in the past. If you
don't contact us, provide us input, it makes it difficult to know of issues.

Good luck and try giving Wells a call. They're really pretty nice folks.

Epson IPrint App and IPhone

2011-11-17 Thread Kevin Mattingly
This is more of an FYI for everyone. I have an Epson Printer/copier/scanner I
downloaded the Epson app for the Iphone and have been able to operate the
printer using the app. This has really been good for creating PDF documents and
sending them out attached in E-mails with signatures and all.

spotify and the Mac

2011-11-24 Thread Kevin Mattingly
My brother was telling me about a program called spotify. It is used to listen
to music of all types. Instead of buying music, you just search for an artist
and you can listen from your computer as much as you like. I downloaded the
application for the Mac but it doesn't seem to be accessible. Does anyone know
if it is accessible on windows and or on an IOS device?

Re: new user to mac how to access on line help

2011-11-27 Thread Kevin Mattingly
Nancy,

On http://www.blindcooltech.com there are some great tutorials done by Mike
arrigo. Before I got my Mac mini a couple of years ago, I used Mike's podcasts
to get fired up.

Enjoy,
