2023-01-30 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Jessica,

I’ll also ask a friend. She had a daughter who was kind of a wild child during
high school. I don’t know if she controlled her daughter’s purchases, But I
know she put a couple of different apps on her phone to keep track of where she
was. Also, when I googled this, I saw adds for several different commercial
apps that say they limit what your kid can do with their phone. I’ve obviously
never used them, so know nothing about how accessible they are. You might try
going to AppleVis and asking if there is an accessible app for controlling a
child’s phone.
Good luck!

Ok, thanks so much for this, I’ll have a look at it and see what I can do with
it. Unfortunately, taking her phone away seems to do next to nothing other
than make her angry for a period of time, then she just goes right back to
doing what she was doing when I give it back to her.
I’ve considered going as far as a safe link phone for her, since she actually
does need a phone due to being in a magnet school, and needing to be in
communication with someone since the bus doesn’t bring her all the way home.
However, that doesn’t mean she will need one with all the bells and whistles
that her friends have, but with that being said, I don’t know enough about the
phones Safelink offers to know if that would be something I could manage as far
as knowing how much time she has on it, and the like.

Here is a support article I found from Apple. If none of this works, have you

Family sharing question.

2023-01-29 Thread Jessica Moss
Ok, this probably is/isn’t exactly Voiceover related, but figured I’d post it
here anyway. Is there a way in family sharing, especially if you have a child
under the age of 18, who has apparently become savvy enough to disable the
default settings that sent notifications to me to allow/deny applications they
want on their phone, so I can see on my end exactly what’s going on? I got
this notification via my Apple Wallet yesterday for an $83.99 purchase
yesterday, that I knew I didn’t make, and it wasn’t showing up anywhere in my
own account, but was showing up in my bank statement, and it took me talking to
someone at Apple for about 20 or 30 minutes trying to tell him over and over
that I didn’t make this purchase, and I just wanted to know what it was for,
before he would finally stop dancing around the situation, stop acting like he
was going to lose his job, and told me it was for an app called “Duel Lingo”
that I realized right away that Hannah put on her phone a couple months ago,
but know nothing about the app itself, so had no idea its was
subscription-based, and not only did she not tell me, but forgot to cancel it
and overdrew me. So for future reference, is there a way I can set things up
in family sharing where I can see what’s going on with Hannah’s phone, and if
not, can someone please send me step-by-step instructions on how to reenable
the setting where I’m notified before anything gets installed on her phone?

Re: Another family sharing question

2015-03-09 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Regarding iTunes Match and Family sharing, the license terms at this time do
not allow for Family Sharing of non-iTunes purchased content. so, those items
uploaded using iTunes Match that were are not accessible to other family
members using the Family Sharing service. The only way, at this point in time,
is to use the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store stuff, and a separate
Apple ID for iCloud related stuff if you want access to iTunes Match content.

Hi,

Enter credit card info when first setting it up then after everything is
confirmed and verified, through Apple’s process, go back in and change the
payment info to “None”. After Family Sharing is configured between your
account and your child’s, then all purchases will go through your payment
option.
