Re: Cleaning IPhone screen, perhaps an obvious question

2016-03-20 Thread Seyoon Choi
Oh, I see. Well, I usually try to get as much dust off of my screen with a dry
microfiber cloth that I mentioned earlier and avoid using any wet wipes, etc,
but again, all of this probably comes down to your personal preference, but I
don’t think any harm will be done either way if you are aware of the coating
that I mentioned.

Re: Cleaning IPhone screen, perhaps an obvious question

2016-03-19 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,
I’ve used a damp baby wipe-the kind without powder, aloe, etc, in a pinch. I
usually will get a small peice of paper towel, make it only slightly damp, then
wipe the screen carefully with it, then wipe with a dry one.

I don’t need to do this very often, though. Not sure why it’d be bad.

Re: Cleaning IPhone screen, perhaps an obvious question

2016-03-19 Thread Seyoon Choi
I myself personally is quite a neat freak and like to keep my products clean.
When it comes down to cleaning iPhone screen, unless you have screen protectors
please do not apply water to clean the screen. If it’s simply a dust you might
want to apply a little bit of water but keep in mind that Apple’s touch screens
have oilofobic coating which prevents fingerprint oils to be smudged all over
the screen. I personally prefer using the soft microfiber cleaning cloth and it
seem to work really well. Just remember, you can use any cleaning solutions but
make sure you don’t apply as much water as possible to keep the nice oliofobic
coating. The more water being applied to a screen, the coating will begin to
wear off and diminish.

Hi,

>From your iPhone manual:

"To clean iPhone, unplug all cables and turn off iPhone (press and hold the
Sleep/ Wake button, then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp,
lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners,
household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to
clean iPhone.”

So, although I do not know of any reason why you shouldn’t, Apple seems to
think otherwise.

Hi.

I use a micro fibre cloth and a touch of the
Isopropyl Alcohol which you
can use with your Focus Braille displays as the Isopropyl Alcohol
 is designed to clean
screens such as computer screens and your I phone screen. I got the Isopropyl
Alcohol from Amazon as the
name was in my Focus Blue manuals.

I keep my phone in my pocket when not in use and wipe it on my jeans if
it seems dirty. I guess that's not what the pros would say but I figured
that it's gorilla glass and shouldn't scratch. Plus most jeans are made
from cotton which is pretty soft stuff, at least after they've been
through a bunch of washes. That said, the modern iOS screens have
oleophobic and hydrophobic coatings so don't be using any chemical
cleaners like windex or alcohol as that will start to strip the coating.

Actually Ben, not if you get the kind that isn't rough. They make paper towels
which have more a fuzzy smoother texture.

Re: Cleaning IPhone screen, perhaps an obvious question

2016-03-18 Thread Robin Frost
Hi,
I usually use the iKlear moistened wipes for cleaning screens.
What’s the difference you might ask?
to me it’s not only the amount of moisture as these have less and what liquid
is used dries almost instantly. It’s also tailor made not to conflict with the
coating others have mentioned. I would think that baby wipes given their
original intended purpose would have more liquid present on them than other
sorts of moistened cloths for the stated purpose.
I also only go to them as a last resort if there’s a speck of dirt or something
I can feel that a dry microfiber cloth doesn’t disperse.
I hope that helps.
