Hi Tomas, that is pretty cool, thanks. Can the search applet display text, in case there is not meaningful logo (yet)? Can the search applet search a second directory in /usr/local? Would be useful since before a reflash, a backup of /usr/local would save these local modifications. Thanks, Rainer Am Montag, 13. [maemo-developers] WMA streaming
Hello, What are my options for Windows Media Audio streams on the 770? Most Internet radio streams (I mean simulcasts of real broadcasts in this sense) are offered in (at least) this format, which is supported by free software (ffmpeg) up to version 2, the latest version I've ever seen anywhere. However, no one seems to have had any luck with third-party codecs on this device, much less for streaming. Is this device powerful enough to handle decoding audio streams using C or ARM-assembly codecs (from ffmpeg)? It's likely that the bitstream would be 16 to 24 kbps. I understand free tools for the DSP aren't quite there yet, so that may not be an option. -- Andrew Barr Men go crazy in congregations they only get better one by one. -- Sting, "All This Time" (The Soul Cages, 1991) ___ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-developers

Well gpe-mini-browser actually uses a derivative of Webkit called gtk-webcore. Unfortunately gtk-webcore is in some weird *maybe* we continue development state atm and I haven't made the effort yet of getting gpe-mini-browser to work on the new OS edition so you cannot try it yet. (It worked relatively well on the old version of the software despite the relative unstability of gtk-webcore). I heard that the webkit developers were actually adding some gtk code, but it is relatively new and barely usable (I could personally not find out how the little gtk related code that was added could be used). If that happens nothing will stop people from making a webkit browser for the 770. So if somebody would push that in the right directions that would be really nice. [maemo-developers] FlashPlayer and Opera updates?
I don't suppose there is an updated flashplayer anywhere? 7 or better (or source code to compile one). All I can find is pre-compiled .SO for x86 Linux (7 and 9beta). On that note are there any plans to update Opera in future OS releases? - I checked with Opera and they say only Nokia can release updates to Opera on Nokia 770 (i.e. you can't buy an upgrade). Could really do with version 8.5 or better for more complete AJAX support (Maemo does it, but is not really production ready as a browser, having said that Opera crashes quite a bit too for no apparent reason). [maemo-developers] Please include osso-media.server ogg probs (was: Unresolved issues (Week 45))
Hi Tommi, I'd like to include "Ogg support via gstreamer plugin does not work as documented". (see my thread "summary of my ogg adventures from last week"). The problem is that if you follow the installation/configuration instructions from the maemo.org website (http://maemo.org/platform/docs/multimedia/getting_started.html), playing ogg files will just result in a 100% CPU usage freeze. Thanks Sebastian. --- Update from Internettablettalk. It seems the gconf instructions on the above website for the osso_media_server are borked. N770-Freak writes: "I've installed gstreamer with debug mode and evaluated the output. The ogg file isn't handled like the gconf entry's default. The gconf entry gives the rule to demux, decode ogg files with tremor and to use the dsppcmsink. [application/ogg,tremor,dsppcmsink] But the osso-media-server grabs the ogg file and connects it to "ivorbisfile" (it doesn't even load the dsppcmsink). So I have tried to manipulate other gconf entries that belong to the osso-media-server but with no success. Theoretically it should be possible to disable/break mp3 playback (for example) with a broken x-id3 entry in the gconf?! But every manipulation of the gconf seems to have no effect to the osso-media-server! Has someone more experience with the gconf (and perhaps the osso-media-server)???" ___ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-developers
[maemo-developers] Hints for using Valgrind tools in Scratchbox
Hi, Some hints for using valgrind tools in Scratchbox+Maemo. First, standard way to use valgrind and gdb. af-sb-init.sh supports parameters for using these tools with a piece of software we want to study: af-sb-init.sh start --valgrind=my_app af-sb-init.sh start --gdb=my_app Valgrind will store the results in /tmp/valgrind-my_app.log*. Gdb will show its prompt on load of my_app. This way you can debug/valgrind the program you want. An interesting example would be: "I want to valgrind my status bar applet". And this is easy: af-sb-init.sh start --valgrind=maemo_af_desktop You'll get the results in /tmp/valgrind-maemo_af_desktop.log* If you want to run other valgrind tools, you would better use these environment variables: * VALGRINDCMD: the command you want to run inside valgrind. * VALGRIND: the valgrind command and parameters. For example, if you want to run massif of maemo_af_desktop, you would run: export VALGRINDCMD=maemo_af_desktop export VALGRIND="valgrind --tool=massif --num-callers=50 --trace-children=yes --depth=5 --format=html --log-file=/tmp/massif --alloc-fn=g_malloc --alloc-fn=g_malloc0 --alloc-fn=g_realloc --alloc-fn=g_slice_alloc --alloc-fn=g_try_malloc --alloc-fn=g_slice_alloc0" af-sb-init.sh start ... do your stuff ... af-sb-init.sh stop And you'll get your massif reports in /tmp (logs) and $PWD (html and postscripts). -- José Dapena Paz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Igalia ___ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-developers
