Hi,

When I try to update "rtcom-beta-os2008" to version 2.1-14 via
Application Manager i receive message about unresolved dependences:
bluez-utils (= 3.22-0osso2)
libglade2-0 (= 1:2.4.0-1osso2)
libncurses5 (= 5.4-3osso1)
makedev (= 2.3.1-73osso-3)

How i can resolve this issue?

Awesome! Thank you very much Andrew. Simple two steps fixed the
problem. 1. uninstall nano that I had on my n800 2. add the Chinook

Re: ncurses-base for OS 2008 (n800)

2008-01-04 Thread Andrew Godwin
ncurses-base itself is in the main repositories now (well, I have nano
installed on OS2008, and I certainly didn't port it this time). I think
the appropriate catalogue is 'Maemo Chinook':

web addr: http://repository.maemo.org/
distrib: chinook
components: free non-free

Let me know if that's the one; if not, I'll have to track down where it
actually comes from.

bsddb module for maemo-python ?

2008-01-04 Thread Fred Pacquier
Hi,

Does anyone have the bsddb module for maemo-python, or know where to
find it ?

I don't know why it's been excluded from the maemo distribution : it's
not that big, and its absence means some existing software cannot be
reused easily on the tablets - like the very interesting Gluon:
http://mdp.cti.depaul.edu/

It should at least be available in the "dev" package, or as a separate
download, but I don't see it anywhere, even in Red Pill Mode.

Thanks for any pointers,

Yes. That's an error from qemu meaning that qemu doesn't know how to
emulate the code you've generated. It doesn't mean that the code is
somehow buggy.

You can of course add the support for syscall 316 to qemu. I don't have
a slightest idea about that but it might not be a big deal to somebody
knowing what (s)he's doing.

Re: Contribution code, ...

2008-01-04 Thread Alfredo J. Fabretti
I received an email saying that the code is available and a list of
countries, but USA is not in the list and doesn't say anything about
that. Canadian is not in the list but it says "Canadian contributors
will receive further information next week.".

Any ideas?

Thank you. So Chinook and os2008 is different thing now. Chinook is the
SDK and os2008 has sources to (latest only?) firmware image. That's nice
and makes sense. Perhaps os2008 repository is there also to provide
those planned non-monolithic OS updates in future?

So, umm, any plans to make os200x repository updated together with
firmware release in future?

Frantisek

P.S. I am very happy about the kernel source, thanks

That's that common symptom telling that qemu isn't perfect. And it will
never be.

You might want to try only compiling in the SB and running on the actual
device. That's what I do.

Unsupported Syscall

2008-01-04 Thread Verena
Hello,

sorry to bug you again.

I´m still trying to open files through osso_mime_open_file.
I get this error when I click the button in the application:

qemu: Unsupported syscall: 316
hello[8135]: GLIB WARNING ** default - Could not initialize inotify

I looked it up, but couldn´t find useful infos for this error and what´s
causing it.

The code which is causing the error is this:

void funktionPlay(GtkButton *button, gpointer user_data) /*button event*/
{
   osso_mime_open_file (connection, file);

}

in the main function:

gnome_vfs_init();
connection = dbus_bus_get (DBUS_BUS_SESSION, NULL);

uri =
gnome_vfs_uri_new("/scratchbox/users/jars/home/jars/dentasound/src/ui/toolbar.c");
file = gnome_vfs_uri_to_string(uri, GNOME_VFS_URI_HIDE_NONE);

Thanks for being patient with me. I´m getting antsy since I have to finish the
application by 20th jan.

Later,
V

Announcement: OS2008 2.2007.50-2 source repository

2008-01-04 Thread Terje.Bergstrom
Hi,

The source code for open source components of OS2008 version 2.2007.50-2 have
been uploaded to a new repository. To be able to find the sources, please point
your browser to

http://repository.maemo.org/pool/os2008/free

Alternatively, add the following line to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb-src http://repo.maemo.org/ os2008 free

After that, you can use apt to list and download the sources.

Darn, so we're no closer to OTR support then. I was hoping for a free ride!

Not sure what you mean by a second user interface...

IIRC pidgin-otr is based on libotr (http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/) so I
guess we're still back to the drawing board with bug 1921 and integration
of libotr within the existing maemo IM/chat framework. Any takers?

I think there's been a misunderstanding here (possibly on my part).
While libpurple's protocol support is now available via our chat app
THANKS TO TELEPATHY-HAZE, the pidgin-otr package on Maemo extras is
strictly a Pidgin user interface plugin, rather than a protocol plugin.
Thus, a second user interface would have to be written for OTR to work
with an application other than Pidgin.

That's right.

As mentioned in http://rtcomm.garage.maemo.org/ page -

"Note:You can also create profiles yourself by adding a profile
description file (.profile) to the directory /usr/share/osso-rtcom/ (See
existing profiles for an example)."

Anyone is welcome to experiment with new profiles. And feel free to give
that to us for subsequent updates.

Thanks.

As I replied to the original announcement post, you just click the
installer in http://rtcomm.garage.maemo.org . The link given in
announcement was outdated hence doesn't work. You shouldn't need to
install anything manually.

problems in af-sb-init.sh

2008-01-04 Thread harini satyanarayanan
hi,
I completely removed my scratchbox and maemo installation and reinstalled
both scratchbox and maemo 4.0.

There still seems to be some problems with the repository because when i do
an apt-get it shows the following error

[sbox-CHINOOK_ARMEL: ~] > apt-get update
Ign file: chinook Release.gpg
Ign file: chinook Release
Err http://repository.maemo.org chinook Release.gpg
  Temporary failure resolving 'repository.maemo.org'
Failed to fetch http://repository.maemo.org/dists/chinook/Release.gpg
Temporary failure resolving 'repository.maemo.org'
Reading package lists... Done
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.

also when i look into /etc/osso-af-init/ i can see .dpkg-new files as in
instead of locale its locale.dpkg-new so when i manually rename them and
then run the af-sb-init.sh script i get the following error

cannot find /usr/share/themes/default/theme.xml

I am not sure what the problem is, this is the first time im seeing a
.dpkg-new file also dosent look like the apt-get completed sucessfully. Im
having the same problem in both the targets.

Has someone completed the installation after the repository was up last
week, if so can you please document the work around for the problem. I have
been trying to install the maemo 4.0 chinook for more than 2 weeks now. any
help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
