[Mageia-dev] Freeze push: libmtp

2013-03-29 Thread Damien Lallement

Please submit libmtp 1.1.6 (1.1.5 for now):
A bug fix and improvements release.

Changes from 1.1.5 to 1.1.6:

- Soname libmtp.so.9.1.0 - binary compatible, new interfaces
  have been added.

- Devices, devices, devices... I think I had a hundred (no kidding)
reports for the Nexus 4. It seems hackers just love this device
and cannot wait for me to spin a new libmtp.

- More careful autoprobing code for Linux, running around in
sysfs to try to avoid opening non-MTP devices. The libusb devs
do not uniformly like this idea but what shall I do? People
still want their devices to autodetect. Any hints welcome,
  any patches will be reviewed.

- Interface extenstions from Philip Langdale to support the
Android in-place read/write extensions. This will be used by
GVFS for editing files etc, it is actually very useful when
treating the MTP device as a real filesystem. It only works
on Android devices with Google's MTP stack, but hey, that is
a fair share of the MTP devices used today.

- Several fixes and memory leaks fixed by Lei Zhang courtesy if
  the Chromebook project, thanks Google!

- Did you know that Microsoft silently dropped the MTPZ extension
from Windows Phone 8? Now you know. Newer Windows Phone
devices are reported to work out-of-the-box with libmtp.

[Mageia-dev] [RFC] What about installing dhclient on default installation?

2012-12-07 Thread Damien Lallement

Hi all,

Nowadays, people are all using network on their computer.
Upon installation or later.

The fact is that Mageia doesn't have 'dhclient' installed by default
(but available on DVDs).
It's very annoying because if your are doing a DVD installation without
keeping it, it won't be easy to configure network as you won't have an
easy way to install 'dhclient'.
As today, most of setup box or network configuration are using 'dhcp',
why not installing it by default? It won't impact people who do not need
it by will help others!
So, why not updating rpmsrate to have it installed by default and not
only if you are configuring network?

[Mageia-dev] Dropping hal from Mageia 3

2012-07-17 Thread Damien Lallement

Hi boys and girls.

What do you think about dropping hal for Mageia 3?
I was planning to ask it for Mageia 2 but it was too late.
I made some cleaning in May but it still remains:

[dams@maximus ~]$ urpmq --whatrequires hal
draksnapshot
draksnapshot
hal
lib64hal-devel
lib64hal1
libhal-devel
libhal1
sugar
sugar
usb-imagewriter
usb-imagewriter
[dams@maximus ~]$ urpmq --whatrequires libhal1
hal
libhal-devel
libhal1
librapi2
libsynce0
nut-drivers-hal
wmbattery
[dams@maximus ~]$

If packagers can check their packages to remove hal deps, I will add it
to task-obsoletes before first alpha.

Thanks.
