Re: [mailop] !! Increase in outlook.com S3150 rejections

2024-02-20 Thread Lilium via mailop

Hello,
we had similar issues, sometimes with IP addresses that have NOT been
sending emails for months.

Approx. one month ago we registered all the IP addresses with SNDS
(Smart Network Data Service) *and* JMRP (Junk Mail Reporting Program).
Paying great attention to each complaint. The blocks continued but
slowed down. See https://postmaster.live.com/snds

When re-asking for "delisting/mitigation" in the email reply to "Nothing
was detected to prevent your mail from reaching Outlook.com customers",
we always include the error message received for each IP address and the
notice that under the SNDS control panel the "View IP Status" option
shows: "All of the specified IPs have normal status".

Andrea

Hi,

Over the past two weeks, I started to notice an increase in the number
of S3150 rejections. Example:

550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] weren't sent.
Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their
network is on our block list (S3150). You can also refer your provider
to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors
.

The main issue is that when I contact them at
https://olcsupport.office.com/ , I
receive a reply indicating that "Nothing was detected to prevent your
mail from reaching Outlook.com customers.".

I have to reply and wait for them to escalate. After some time, I
finally get "We have implemented mitigation for your IP
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) and this process may take 24 - 48 hours to replicate
completely throughout our system.".

Asking for more details about the issue doesn't help as they refuse to
provide any. And the main issue is that the IPs will usually get blocked
again after a few days.

These IPs never had issues before and, after doing a full review,
nothing was found on our end. No changes in the content patterns (
mainly invoices and order confirmations ), nothing that indicates that
the server was compromised etc.

I was wondering if anyone else is also experiencing this type of issue?

Thanks.

It appears to us that the delay only affects EU SMTP servers.
US SMTP servers delivery is fine.

Hello all,

since a few hours we have problems with sending to Microsoft. We get
hundreds of messages like in the subject with the reference to S77719.
Also colleagues from other companies in germany are seeing the same in
their logs. All mails that are blocked here are from Microsoft
customers, but they are redirected through our servers.

Trying to unblock the IP e.g. via https://sender.office.com/ shows that
the IPs are not blocked.

Anybody have any idea?

Thanks a lot

Thank you for the links. After letting Sinai extract the bounce information, I
import it into a database for further analysis of the bounce reasons.

The two biggest issues analyzing bounces are:
- The information returned by different mail handlers is not standardized.
- Many bounces are classified as ”undefined” which I have to dig into further.
One reason could be - have not checked this yet - that some mail handlers may
return information in a language different than English and some return
information in English. Our campaigns are in a non-English speaking country.

Do you have any experience with the latter?

I haven't made any change in the application settings.
In RealSender configuration the "undefined" errors are skipped.

If you look at the Github releases page:
https://github.com/sisimai/p5-sisimai/releases

There are changes like this one, maybe you can find some hints there:

I manage this service to validate the SPF and DKIM settings:

1. send an e-mail to s...@tester.realsender.com
2. check online the validation results (it will take a minute to appear)

So, now we're looking for a good frontend with antispam functions.

CanIT is a set of open source software (Sendmail, Spamassassin,
blocklists, ClamAV, opendkim etc) packaged with a nice web gui
interface to control it all on a locally hosted Linux server.

And that's basically what we'd also need to replace it.

Some random cloud hosting spam solution is not a viable option,
we're a Finnish government owned contractor. Also we need to know
(if need be) what happened to each and every email coming and going,
not "perhaps our proprietary spam system ate it, we won't tell you"
as so many of these cloud solutions seem to be.

Any recommendations?

Re: [mailop] Office 365 - Emails marked as not passing fraud detection

I can’t figure this one out so looking for some help from people in the
know. One of our clients has a postfix mail relay server used for
relaying emails from photocopiers/internal software systems out to the
world.

Below I’ve pasted the headers of one. Office 365 / Outlook chucks them
in the junk mail folder with a message “This sender failed our fraud
detection checks and may not be who they appear to be.”

Hello Shane,
last week I had a similar issue and found this:

Unfortunately I haven't been to make it work.

Re: [mailop] dkim signature failures sendmail/opendkim

2017-05-27 Thread Lilium

Using sendmail with opendkim for signing mostly works, but I have a few
domains with dmarc p=reject, and looking at the aggregate reports, I am
seeing some dkim=fail, spf=pass on a small amount of mail going to
google, comcast, etc. The aggregate reports show that mail is signed
with the right selector (default._domainkey.lynchexhibits.com).

Hello Carl,
I've had dkim signature problems too, they were all related with line
lenght (max 990 characters).

Some customers sent the content all in one line or had a very long line
within the html.

In these cases sendmail added exclamation marks and dkim signature was
broken.

"The default for SMTPLINELIM is 990 (defined in RFC821) and that value
should not be changed."

http://www.diablotin.com/librairie/networking/sendmail/ch18_08.htm#SML2-CH-18-SECT-8-43

Why it should not be changed:
