MI COGO Packages
If you are really serious about needing a COGO Package, I have one I developed that is quit comprehensive. Attached is a screen shot of the Dialog. I sell it for $50.US
Re: MI Creating points
Another thing you can do change the point to a small circle or square( some other polygon), select both polygons and combine. This allows both objects (or more) to access the same record. MI MapXtreme and Novell
To all User, I haven't heard from anyone about the following subject so I thought I would try is again. Surely someone has run into this problem. I am trying to set up a MapXtreme application using NT 4.0, IIS 3.0 as a web server that is attached to a very large Novell Network. The data I need to access resides on a secured Novell Drive. I am having trouble with MapXtreme/HAHT accessing that data apparently due to IIS requiring Null access security or something like that. I must have some security privileges to access the data on the Novell network. Thanks Is there something I can do to access the data or do I need to run a different web server on the NT machine in order to gain access to the data? -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: Phriday Philosophy (was: MI and Manifold)
Like many others that aren't afraid to comment to Mapinfo-L, I too like the openness of the mailing list the way it is. True I want to learn all the tricks I can, but being a GIS consultant and developer, it is important for me to know anything and everything about GIS related issues. I don't work for a company that only uses one mapping software. I spend enough time reading MapInfo-L mail without having to be on 10 mailing lists to stay abreast as to things in the GIS industry. I want comparative arguments. Another thing I like is that there is at least one person at MapInfo that reads comments and actually participants by responding to cries of help and is not afraid to speak up. You can tell he is more related to the technical side of the business and customer satisfaction. I just wish some of the others at MapInfo would participate, even if they just hear what faithful users have to say. The more satisfied the users, the larger the user base and market. That is the way to bring in more revenue. I have had the same problem with GIS Day activities... very little MapInfo support. I plan to actively participation this year. Everyone needs to be a little brash and do something to educate people, especially the youth. Gis Day is the perfect way to do it. I encourage everyone to keep up the good work. -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MI Locate nearest...
I would suggest adding a temporary column into database, use the distance(x1,y1,x2,y2) formula to fill the column and perform a query of table using a descending sort on the temporary column. This will show the entire list by distance. Ken Fioretti wrote: > Hello All, > What is the simplest way to locate the nearest point(s) from a table of > multiple points to another point. Re: MI MapInfo 5.0.1 Polygon Snapping Problem
Yes. I found that the projections of the two table are different which causes the points to come out at a different location. Re: MI: Simultaneous file sharing, multiple users
I suggest using the redline Concept. If one party wants to make edits, create a blank work table that is commonly located to everyone. Each will have its own editable table with their marks on it. Have them use a different color Crayon. When everyone displays the original map, either add the "red line" tables into the workspace or have separate windows indicating changes. These "Red Line" tables can be reused over and over. If you let numerous people attempt to change a table simultaneously (currently not possible) who's information is said to be right and who's information needs to be removed? (unless it is the boss's and we know who's answer is correct) Jason Adam wrote: > Good day List- > I have had a request to look into something that may not be MapInfo specific > but I thought the collective knowledge base here may have an idea or two. > I'm looking at a way to have two (or more) users simultaneously look at a > network file and mark edits on it in real time, kind of like a video > conference or virtual/net meeting. Re: MI Address Geocoding Difficulties
I did a similar thing with a complete listing of people in a small city. All addresses were put within the first quarter of the streets. After talking to MI tech support the blame is being placed on GDT databases. In previous versions of street databases the from-to addresses where relatively correct. If a block is only 600 feet long the addresses would range from 1 to 26 which was about 40 feet per lot. When the newer street databases came out (including MapMarker), the from-to addresses were changed to 1 to 99. When proportionately calculating location quess where the address of 25 ended up? in the first quarter of the block. I contacted a GDT rep and was told that since the postal service reserves 1-99 addresses for each an every block, GDT changed ALL of their street addressing to match. At this time they do not have any intention of changing it. Personally it was a poor business choice trying to closely follow the guidelines of a government related agency such as the postal service. It was like mixing apples with oranges. I suggest finding a older version of streetinfo. We are conducting some address geocoding tests and are getting puzzling results. In essence, houses are not being proportionately located along the street segments. Furthermore, house placement appears to change as "shaping" nodes are added or removed from continuous road segments. begin:vcard n:Howard;Jerry tel;cell:318-426-1025 tel;work:903-633-2614 x-mozilla-html:TRUE url:www.micro-app.com org:Micro Applications Corp. adr:;;1361 Don Long Rd;Waskom;Tx;75692;USA version:2.1 email;internet:[EMAIL PROTECTED] title:President note:"Limited Only by Your Imagination" fn:Jerry Howard end:vcard
Re: MI Resource editor
All I could find to make icons was to use the resource editor found in Visual Basic. Once the icons or BMP images are inserted at the correct sizes, a DLL file can be generated and used as tool buttons in Mapinfo. Regarding Multiple editing sessions, I know of nothing for native tab files unless you use ODBC Links or establish some transaction type routines. > I am trying to locate an editor that will allow me to create or modify an > icon DLL file.
