MI Data
Hello everybody I want to have a go at bringing satellite images and arial photography information into Mapinfo. I was wondering if anybody new whether I can get hold of some free images from somewhere on the Internet. MI Map projection data
Hello This isn't really a Mapinfo question more a data question. I want to get hold of a map of the world which I can bring into Mapinfo that is in Peter's projection. A friend mentioned it at the weekend and said how different things appear in this map, she's a teacher so I had to agree. Anyway, if anyone has such a map they could let me have or point me in the direction of one on the internet, for download or purely for viewing, I'd greatly appreciate it. MI RE: Using Accessing Excel Files
Christopher I imagine you'll receive better alternatives than this one, I hope you do because I'd like to know a better way too. I've always opened the Excel file into Mapinfo and then saved it as something else using the Save Copy As option in the File menu. If you then open this new file you will find that you can edit away to your hearts content. Hope this helps. I'm trying to show some colleagues the basics of MI, and they have some appropriate data in an Excel file that they thought would be a good starting point. Though creaking a bit, I've got them in and up & running, but I've hit a minor problem; they're accessing the excel sheet directly, but cannot edit the data. In my day you didn't have all this Office integration stuff, and you have to import the data. Why does it claim the layer is read-only (it isn't at OS level...), and more importantly, how do I give them the right access to it? Thanks... MI Mapbasic getting variables into brush styles.
Dear all I know this is simple but I can't get it to work. Basically I want to put a chosen colour from a dialog popupmenu into a variable and then into a fill colour for a polygon. The following line is where I am trying to set the colour of my polygon table, Can_col is the variable which has the colour code number. Set Map Layer 2 Display Global Global Brush (2, Can_col ,16777215) Should I have the variable in " "'s or between + +'s, I've tried allsorts but can't get the program to compile. Please tell me where I'm going wrong, how do you get a variable into something like this? Thanks in advance Simon > - > Rivers and Coastal Section > WS Atkins > Warrington > Tel: 01925 622029 > Fax: 01925 622054 > - > > This email and any attached files are confidential and copyright > protected. > If you are not the addressee, any dissemination of this communication is > strictly prohibited. MI-Vertical Mapper
Dear all I have a Vertical Mapper question. I am trying to some Viewshed analysis and Point to Point visibility on some grid files I have, (some are tutorial files supplied with VM), but I get the following error message: "Your grid units are not meters or feet! Point to Point requires a grid unit of meters or feet" I can not find any information in the manual or online about how you change the grid unit to meters or feet, is there any? or is it just word of mouth? If anybody can help me please get in touch. MI MB Sound possible???
Good morning, I've looked through the archives for any information regarding playing sound through a Mapbasic script. I found several messages asking similar questions, but found no answers. From this I take it that, either it's not possible or no one out there knows how to do it. My question is: If I can't do it in Mapbasic, is it possible to do it in VB? and if so, how? RE: MI Vertical Mapper question
James Thanks for the response. One more question, is it possible to access Vertical mapper's functions through Mapbasic? Regardless of the above question, I imagine that I'll be able to manipulate/edit the regions drawn using Voronoi utility in mapinfo/mapbasic to achieve what I'm after - just a thought. Cheers Simon -Original Message- From: James Harvie [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 23 May 2000 19:57 To: MapInfo L Subject: RE: MI Vertical Mapper question Simon, Unfortunately the Voronoi utility in Vertical Mapper does not allow you to influence the size of the natural neighbourhood region based on a points value. MI datatype mismatch
Dear all Following my request last week for information regarding selecting text objects from a layout and deleting them I am following up having worked through the responses. From the responses I got (thankyou everybody) it was clear that I need to query the LayoutTab to select the items I wish to delete. Knowing this I searched through the archives and found some earlier correspondence from Scott Barling dated 11/01/2000 (day/month/year), that included a nice little bit of code which looked as if it will do the job for me. I added this code into mine and made a couple of amendments where I make selections, but on running it I get a "Datatype mismatch in expression" runtime error. Briefly, I have a table called testtable and in that table I have a field called reference. The variable S_Ref is the text item in the reference column. I have copied only the bits which I see as relevant to my problem: Dim S_Ref As String Dim Text As String S_Ref = test_table.Reference Text = S_Ref LayoutTab = WindowInfo(FrontWindow(), Win_info_table) Select * from LayoutTab where Str$(obj) = "text" * Select * from Selection where (ObjectInfo(obj, OBJ_INFO_TEXTSTRING)) = Text If SelectionInfo (SEL_INFO_NROWS) Then Delete from selection End If Upon running, within my Mapinfo layout all the text items select but then the text item which has string equivalent to the variable S_Ref does not select, it is at this point that I get the error message regarding datatype mismatch. (the line with the asterix) There is probably a very simple reason for this but I can't see it. If anyone can help please get in touch. MI Selecting text items from a layout
Hello I am trying to create a mapbasic tool which will automatically create a series of layouts, each based on a unique record in a mappable table. The tool will pull the record's information from the table and create text items upon the layout for each field within the original table. It will then save and print the layout. I have been able to do all this so far. I now need to clear the layout of these text items and loop round and start again, therefore my question is: 'Does anybody know how to make a selection from the layout, but only selecting the objects you wish, ie. not selecting logos, titles, title boxes. etc?' Please help if you know of a way to do this. MI Mapinfo
Dear all Just a quick question for you. Is there a way of opening a workspace through mapbasic using a simple command followed by the workspace name as you can for a table, ie. Open Table "C:States". I want to avoid having to list out the text content of the workspace I wish to open. I did attempt to this, but whilst compiling the MB file a whole range of errors were identified. All responses will be very much appreciated. MI Vertical Mapper question
Dear all I have a question for any Vertical Mapper guru's out there. Is it possible to create a grid/3D drape in vertical mapper from existing contour lines. ie. digitised into Mapinfo from paper copy maps? If so, could you please give me some advice as to how to go about it. Thanks for your responses Simon ___ Rivers and Coastal Section WS Atkins Consultants Ltd Tel. 01925 622029 Fax. 01925 622054 -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
MI Circle drawing problem
Firstly, sorry to bring you all back into a work frame of mind, but I am currently tearing my hair out. We've got a table containing a great number of polylines, these polylines represent flood boundaries. Unfortunately, the digitiser has not joined the lines up to produce complete areas, in other words, we can not select all lines which are to form one boundary and then combine, and convert to regions because all start and end points of the lines do not overlay the start/end points of the next line in the boundary. This is a major problem as we have a huge number of these boundaries. Firstly, does anyone know of a tool that will help in this task. The steps that I see need to be taken are: - Get the start/end points of a line - Find the closest start/end point of another line. - Move one start/end point of one of the lines to match the other line's start/end points. - Then combine these two lines. - Then go back to the first step and go through. ie loop through records. If the start point is for the same line as the end point, I need to overlay these points. Having done this I need to then convert this polyline to region, and then move on to the next set of lines. I hope you all follow that. The problem I've had this morning is this, I have successfully pulled out the start/end X and Y co-ordinates of polylines, I've tried to draw a circle on the end point of this circle of radius .25m, from this circle I select any other intersecting lines. (Crude, but I'm still learning). The problem is that when my circle is drawn, it's centre is not going on the end point of the line, but on one of the boundary corners of the line. Therefore the circle does not contain the end of one line and the end/start of the adjacent line (if one exists) If anyone can help me with suggestions/code/web addresses of tools which will do this please get in touch with me. Thanks for any help. ___ Simon Fox Rivers and Coastal Section WS Atkins Consultants Ltd Tel. 01925 622029 Fax. 01925 622054 -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
