Dear all,

Is routing possible in MapXtreme? Atleast...Find the shortest routes
btwn two places, ten minutes drivetime from a point...interactively on
the web. Any hints/applications live on the web, would help a lot.

Which would be the best development tool ASP or JAVA or HAHTSITE
for the same? Any experiences, any issues

Will SUM.

RE: MI Routing Application Servers?

Dear John,
You may be interested to know of a reference site using RouteXNetServer.
Access www.madaboutbikes.com then go to "toolbox" to register your details,
continue and click on "TravelMate" then "next".
This is a UK based site so only UK routes apply. I'll keep you posted of any
further reference sites as they become available.

MI Routing - SPIDER WEB

1999-12-08 Thread Dan Munson

Ladies Gentleman,

I need a specific routing algorythm as
follows. From a given point, I have to find the closest intersection to a
line network.

For example, say I have an address, and I need to
know the closest point on a fiber network, based upon driving distance (we are
assuming we'd run cables down the street).

So I don't really need routing, I need to "Drive"
the network to find the closest fiber run, then report the
distance.

RouteView is a popular routing and catchment area analysis tool. RouteView is
completely data independent and allows you to process any link and node data. Data
bundles are also available

RouteView can quickly calculated and display shortest or fastest routes between
different points in the order you want to visit them. It also enables you to find the
optimum route based on route types and speeds. RouteView also contains a function
enabling you to calculate catchment areas based on time or distance. These regions are
critical for marketing and demographic analysis.

RouteView Pro contains all the features of RouteView plus some extra analysis tools
for the more demanding user. RouteView Pro has user-defined restrictions such as
impassable one-way and other restrictions. You can also set variable road speeds for
different times of the day and print out detailed directions including names,
distances between each section, direction and which way to turn. RouteView Pro allows
editing of roads so you can create short cuts that would not normally be available in
datasets (ideal for calculation walking distances) and includes a territory builder
which allocates regions to the closest resources by drivetime.

RouteX is a platform independent ActiveX control, based on the popular routing and
drivetime analysis package RouteView. The RouteX Developer Kit is flexible enough to
be used with all standard programming languages and can be used with or without a
mapping component. Fast and accurate, it is an ideal solution for use on the internet
or intranet. Key product features of RouteX include: shortest/fastest journey
calculations; optimisation of journey order; journey directions generation, and stock
dialog methods for setting speeds and route options.

RouteView Software Developer Kit allows you to integrate all or some of the
functionality of RouteView into your own application. The kit is broken down into two
sets of DLL's; Set One: Point to Point Route Optimisation and Set Two: Drive
Distance and Drive Time Regions and works with any programming language that supports
DLL calls.

MI Routing Software

1999-11-01 Thread Brian Gallant

Hello all,

Is anyone aware of a tool developed for MI Pro. that can be used for road planning.
The user would set criteria for ideal conditions to build the road and the system
would show the most suitable areas. Some examples the user would set is that the road
can not be built where the slope is
8% and cannot be closer than x miles from a certain land use and so on. From that
the system would locate possible paths and select the shortest one. It would then
roughly draw the road.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

MI Routing Algorithms

1999-08-27 Thread John Brosowsky

Any got any pointers to fast routing algorithms? At this point I'm not
looking for third party add-ons. I'm looking for a couple pages of text
outlining exact steps required for implementing routing. I've seen the
algorithm (dykstra's method I believe) in the back of the ArcNETWORK manual
for the ArcInfo extension. I've implemented it in MB to find it can be
painfully slow (I know, I know, I'll have to handle my routing in some
external low level function to get speed, but hey I just playing). Anyways,
anybody got any pointers to some basic routing algorithms? Any good books
out there?

any other software that maybe suitable, could they please let me know.

re: MI Routing extensions/software

1999-08-11 Thread Jeff Cole

You wrote:

Specifically interested in optimal routing and drive time analysis.

We'll be formally announcing our GeoRoute component next week. In the meantime, you
might find it interesting to check http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/products.asp?id=62 for
more information.

GeoRoute is the easiest way to put routing features in your application! GeoRoute
enables Windows and Internet applications to present optimal routes (based on distance
or time) and generate point-to-point directions, simply by adding a simple plug-n-play
component.

There is no need to depend on expensive routing databases, you can create routing
databases from regular map files including native MapInfo MIF (TAB coming soon) and
ESRI Shape files directly, without conversion. GeoRoute can use street data that you
already own!

Thanks,
