But I > thought the STF-1 demopgrahics were actual not sampled. > that is correct. based on my conversations with people at census, it seems that everything will be on their website, and it will also be published on cd-rom. at the time i spoke to them, the actual format of the data on cd was unknown, but likely to be some propriatary binary form. with 69 different racial categories the dataset will be a lot bigger. they said that if they do go with the binary form, then they will also publish them in flat text (hopefully compressed) bob rogers john wall and associates -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: MI The Census - No Demographics?
I got the Census too, kind of bugged me with the lack of questions and all. They at least know where you live and how old you are. I expected more questions. I think they are sampling the rest of the population for the other stuff. I read there is more than one form. When do people think we will have the information available to us? Hopefully the info would be on the free census site. I don't know if there is any budget for us to get complete new information, I know this info is on the bottom of the priorities when it comes to tight budgets.. Something to think about in future planning. RE: MI The Census - No Demographics?
Much of the 1990 Census data (for all levels of geography) is available for free at http://www.FreeDemographics.com . On Friday evening, the site will incorporate the Census 2000 Dress Rehearsal Data, which covers the PL 94-171 data and the 100% data (HSF) for the Dress rehearsal area of Sacramento,CA, Selected areas of South Carolina and the Menominee Indian Reservation in Wisconsin. The 2000 data will be available for Census 2000 geographies (down to the block level) as well as for 1990 Census Block Group geographies. This site will continue to offer Census data as it becomes available over the next 3 years. Have fun with it is free! The geocoding on the site is courtesy of MapInfo. Re: MI The Census - No Demographics?
Under the older stuff, I thought everyone got some demographics, but some got the brutal, long form. That I thought was the difference between the STF-1 and STF-3 stuff. But I thought the STF-1 demopgrahics were actual not sampled.
