Re: [libreoffice-marketing] LibreOffice Business cards

2013-01-17 Thread Eliane Domingos de Sousa
Hi all, Marc,

Recently I made some modifications in the layout for Florian, but I didn't
upload the source file yet.

I'm going to the Office right now and I'll upload the file.

This is the example:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/Branding/Ideas#By_Duilio_Dias_and_Eliane_Domingos

Feel free to use.

Best.

Does anyone remember who had mentioned and left us samples on our wiki of
their LibreOffice Business cards? I can't seem to find them. Was it the
 PT-BR team?

I am also looking for anything that we could use at conference booths that
has been left on our wiki site. I am just adding these to our resources
page so that we can refer/modify these to the next upcoming v.4.0[1]

We have a list of these items on our Conference kit page[2]. We have a
booth at Scale that we will need to help organize for Jean.

BTW ... the designers are working hard at coming up with new designs for
LibreOffice v.4.0 and the release date for v.4.0- is fast approaching. We
will soon be able to work on text and re-designs of materials for v.4.0

 Cheers,

 Marc

Italo: Thanks. Could I upload this to the wiki and then link to it on
the wiki resources page? If you use if for BoD and MC members, could we
also expand it for use by TDF members and conference business cards?
Then we would all carry the same cards and this would add to the
visibility of our brand.

BTW ... I know that we are not to print business cards freely, I just
want to leave examples on the wiki resources page so that we can refer
to these the next time someone asks about them. We are normally asked
about them close to conference times when people are busy.

BTW .. I have been looking at VistPrint which serves both the N. S.
Americas and Europe[1]. They also sell conference booth materials, swag,
clothing and other marketing items that seems reasonably priced. We
could purchase from them as well. If we approached them, they may give
us corporate discount if we were to purchase all our items from them.
Their printing locations are in Windsor, Canada (next the the US
border), you can virtually yell across the river to our American cousins
from there, and, Venlo IT. They also have an office in Paris.[2]

It looks like they could serve a good part of our needs in these
geographical areas. We would have to find another service such as them
for the Asian, Arabian, African etc. markets. But it looks like
VistaPrint could also serve these markets as well.

IMO, VistaPrint would be a good choice of supplier for the
TDF/LibreOffice. We have been talking about a TDF/LibreOffice store for
quite a while, and I think it would be more efficient to get VistaPrint
to work out a TDF/LibreOffice group of products that could support our
needs. IMO we would not be efficient enough to support a LibreOffice
store, we just lack the manpower to do this.

I find that we can manage the text quite easily, it is usually the

IMO, we should really break out a VI (visual identity) design team
attached to the marketing team. We could then ask for help from
designers who are interested only in working in marketing items. We have
a lot of design items to work on for the marketing team. We could also
use these designer to help out on the website -- the needs of both

We are fortunate to have the Kannan's group who may be able to help us

they have expressed their offer of help to the marketing team for free,
with the condition that the items would also be suitable for the Indian
market.[1]

Jean will receive her business cards for SCALE.

If you want to have a look at the layout, you can find it here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/116590/minicards.pdf (just look at the visual
layout). We have agreed to use the following standard title: Member,
Board of Directors instead of Director, xxx, as in the example.

Eliane: Thanks. Once you upload the source files I will put up a link
to them.

Italo: Thanks. Could I upload this to the wiki and then link to it on
the wiki resources page? If you use if for BoD and MC members, could
we also expand it for use by TDF members and conference business
cards? Then we would all carry the same cards and this would add to
the visibility of our brand.

They also sell conference booth materials,
swag, clothing and other marketing items that seems reasonably priced.
We could purchase from them as well. If we approached them, they may
give us corporate discount if we were to purchase all our items from
them. Their printing locations are in Windsor, Canada (next the the US
border), you can virtually yell across the river to our American
cousins from there, and, Venlo IT.

We have been talking about a TDF/LibreOffice store
for quite a while, and I think it would be more efficient to get
VistaPrint to work out a TDF/LibreOffice group of products that could
support our needs. IMO we would not be efficient enough to support a
LibreOffice store, we just lack the manpower to do this.

Cheers,

Marc

We've been using Vistaprint for several year now.

Mostly for business card runs (250/per) but, also, some swag (e.g. pens,
t-shirts, bags). Overall, apart from the t-shirts, we've been happy
with the quality of the runs. As well, they've been very responsive to
emailed inquiries. The only, slight, downside in all of this has been
their pricing structure: it's not what I'd call fully 'transparent'.
I'm not saying it's bad but, for example, they might still charge for
uploading custom images.

I'm guessing no one's heard of an open source friendly print shop,
similar to World Label?

[libreoffice-marketing] Facebook access for marketing messages

2013-01-17 Thread Marc Paré
If wanted to post messages on our FB about some events or advertise
items such as Klaibson's tables[1] that we receive on this list, would
it be better for me to post as one of the admins -- then the post would
be signed as LibreOffice ...? This would make it more official.

Or

Should I just go ahead and post as my FB user?

Do we want to formalize it? Either way I will warn the list of the items
that I post on FB when I do this.

If we formalize this, we could maybe get another 2 people from the
marketing list to help out disseminating the materials that we get on
this list.

And, yes, I will post on all the other social media sites once I join them.

Howdy Guys,

Just a quick note to the list.

LFNW is accepting presentation proposals and assigning non-profit booths
for the festival in April now.

You can find details on their website:

NOTE: BTW everyone ... the CFP (Call For Presentations) due date is 15
March 2013. Also, the conference is in Bellingham WA. If you live near
Bellingham you may want to consider representing LibreOffice at a booth!

NOTE: I have added the event on our wiki/website events calendar

NOTE: If you are a US resident or a Canadian resident on this marketing
list, please consider joining the US mailing list[1]. This is where we
post messages that deal strictly with the US market (Canadian market too
-- ping me if you are interested for Canada). If you do not want to sign

We also have our wiki pages where you can sign up on our geographic

I would not be in favour of spending any money on this unless there was
a firm commitment on other members to help out. I don't mind doing some
of this to help out, but, doing it alone, IMO, does not warrant the
amount of $$$ spent when one individual could just quit doing it and
leave the budget money behind.

IMO, if we were to spend $$$, I would expect something like this would
need about 3+ people who would work at it more as a team with the object
of actively gathering marketing items of interest to blog about and then
post to our social media channels.

I am more interested in working out the process and then following it.
If anyone else would like to join, then we could follow the same process
and then perhaps re-assess whether it warrants a request for funding for
a service like bufferapp.

There are many fronts that we can work on in marketing LibreOffice. This
would be an option for members who show interest in pushing positive
media events or marketing items of interest to our social social outlets.

We can work out the process (we're talking about this on the other
thread) and then advertise the availability of filling this marketing
position to the people on the marketing list.

In the meantime, I can do a bit of it when we get something of interest
on the list (just as I do with the events calendar). For example, the
events calendar only takes about .5hr/week of my time to keep updated. I
am not sure how much time this would take.

Cheers,

Marc

Hi Marc, you can of course load the minicard layout on the wiki,
although in will soon have the design with the right wording (we can
then replace this one).

The minicards are printed by MOO (www.moo.com), and are less expensive
than regular business cards and definitely more appealing. As we have a
corporate discount, I will ask a quote to produce generic minicards with

I have added these to the resources page[1]. Let me know if there are
