Cool - wow 1.20 sounds pretty low.

Atleast we have 2 options - $5 and $10

Re: Mobile Funding - Update

2010-05-13 Thread Daniel Baeyens
Hi all,

As far as I've seen, in Spain mobile donations are only possible if
you make an agreement with network operators. There are no companies
for this. During the first weeks of the Haiti disaster, Spanish Red
Cross managed to get some donations through this channel.

The negative side is that there is a law in Spain, to avoid scams,
which limits the maximum donation to 1,20 €. Of course that is better
than nothing, but considering both conditions I'm not sure if it
worths spending too much effort on this (just talking about Spain)

Best regards,

Re: Mobile Funding - Update

2010-05-12 Thread Bharat Kapoor
Hmmm - not a bad idea - I think we were planning on sending people to
gnone3.org - but now we can send them to a special page.

Ok now since u suggested something that is cool - u have to help too :) or
for that matter whoever can please advise:

1. Where can I find backgrounds - that we can edit with some nice message
(although once we do this - we may have to do it for other friends of gnome
too)
2. How do I find info on creating a new webpage

Cheers
Bharat

Re: Mobile Funding - Update

2010-05-12 Thread Brian Cameron

Bharat:

Perhaps to encourage people to donate via Mobile, we could give away
some special thing to people who donate. Perhaps people who donate
via mobile is given a special URL where they can download a GNOME
background that looks nice and advertises that the person supports
GNOME in a special way, or something.

If we provide something nice, but free, in exchange for donating via
mobile that might encourage people to donate in this way.

Re: Mobile Funding - Update

2010-05-12 Thread Bharat Kapoor
Hi Stormy

Its a valid concern. I can try to volunteer for some and hopefully will find
others too :)

Reg being at other hybrid conferences - where we have a mix e.g. the SELF
one in SC:

This is my logic (could be wrong)

   - At conf we'll find folks who contribute to Gnome and those who dont
(assumption - if there is a booth people will come to it)
   - A contributor seeing this little card probably wont care
   - Any non-contributor will probably be encouraged to help
   - And when we hand out the CDs or cards - could always ask "Would you
help spread the message" and that could be backed by a website stating how
new users can adopt Gnome and related applications that one may need.

Bharat

My main concern is finding people that are going to conferences that aren't
for developers, if the target isn't developers.
