5) If it gets back and it doesn't work what can I do in the way of =

MD: help needed

2000-09-10 Thread HK Hill

I took my Aiwa AM-F5 on a road trip, using a 4.5V cigarette lighter
adapter(pretty sure it's 4.5). On day 3, the unit stopped working--tried
recharging battery, but it wouldn't power up at all. I've had the unit for a
couple of years and use it a lot. Do you all think I killed the battery,
maybe it has reached the end of it's life, or have I killed the unit? I'd
like to have some input from more knowledgeable folk before I spend $50 for
another li-ion battery.

That is good advice Peter, I have had to do the same thing when a
different company shipped something standard and it was supposed to be
Over Night. When I didn't get the merchandize, I called them and it had
been misrouted by UPS, and I wouldn't get it for another two days.
Since I was leaving for Germany and had to take it with me, the company
sent out another one OverNight. I recieved it on time and I never found
out what UPS did with the misrouted one.

They are kind person, honest and usually really fast !

Maybe you should call back and ask for the owner...

Maybe it was a new person from this company...

If I were them, what I should do is to simply send right away another exact
order to you and after call UPS to bring back the package to them...

Customer Satisfaction must be at the first place everytime !

 Subject: MD: Minidisco problems

I've just had a very poor experience with Minidisco, to wit:

 1) They type the billing address on a label instead of the shipping
address (so they claim, I have no idea if this was the actual problem
 with the address.)

 2) They send out an order confirmation that *doesn't include a
reference number.* Had they emailed me a reference number, I would
have entered it immediately and discovered that it was going to the
wrong address before it left the dock in Oakland. The reference
number arrived almost a day after the order was shipped. The phone
droid doesn't know what happened, blames a computer glitch.

 3) They are unable to reroute the package. Admittedly, UPS is a pain
in the ass to deal with--but they *chose* to ship via UPS because it
was (to paraphrase) the best choice for *them*, not necessarily for
customers. According to them, UPS refuses to reroute it until after
it's on the ground in DC on Monday--but it's scheduled for delivery
*that day*, which leaves Minidisco with three hours between 5am and
8am Eastern time to contact them. Will anyone at Minidisco actually
call them in the middle of the night from CA? I doubt it.

And nobody at Minidisco seems to care much that they've probably just
 lost a customer.

MD: MD comes through

2000-09-10 Thread J. Coon

I took my MD to a music festival and recorded workshops with it and my
homebrew mike.
http://www.tir.com/~liteways/Mandolin.html#Microphone
The only glitch I had was when I started to title one tune an instructor
had played as an example. While I was titling it he started another
example and I imediatiely wrote the title and pressed record. Damn Sony
and there stupid refusal to get rid of that damnable END SEARCH button.
Whoever disigned the END SEARCH button should be strung up by his
petubies. After three years on using Sony R30 it still bites. I sure
like the other features it has though. The time, date stamp is the
cat's pajamas, and I like being able to record with either automatic
leve setting or manual level setting.

I wish the MD companies would concentrate on m improving one design,
getting rid of END SEARCH, and lowering the prices so starving artists
can afford these things.

I don't know which I enjoyed more, the long extraneous stuf on gun control, or the
many many repeats of quoted material from the previous digest; I think about 75% of
this one was quotes. Of course, I'll get a bunch of crap for mentioning this.
Funny, but no one complains about allthe excess quoting, but they complain ifyou
bring it up...

But on to MD questions: does anyone know who is selling the Sony 940 deck for the
lowest price now? Thanx...

It seems that nothing can get this through to the arrogant Sony Corp.
The dismal response to our end search petition shows just how much they
care...
Vote with your wallet - buy a Sharp or something, anything but Sony and
you will not have any more end-search problems.
I know it's sometimes difficult to take the step *not* to buy Sony, I am
(or was) not a big enthusiast of Sharp products but my 701 has worked
like a charm - no problems (and no end search!) in 3.5yrs...

Well, guess what!?! According to http://www.minidisc.org the new Sony

Unfortunately, it comes set to manually use the end search, but you can
