=== = NB: Over 50% of this message is QUOTED, please = = be more selective when quoting text = === In case you can't tell, that was a tongue sticking out down there. Certain statements to the list (oh, let's say, there can be a difference in sound based on the blanks) simply means one gets crucified by list members who would rather not agree with anyone but themselves. Most of the time people can make kinder, more neutral statements that say what they want just by adjusting their wording. If any one of you, by some magical means, become fluent in Japanese and visit some of their MD and audio-related forums, and see how carefully some of them construct their arguments, you'll see why I'm saying all this. And if my "light year" layman terminology troubles so many of you, I quit this list. It's as simple as that. MD: What's missing on the MZ-R700 and MZ-R500? (was: Sony MZ-R900)
Leon [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: The R500, R700 and R900 have different features. According to MDCP, the R700 doesn't have (when compared to the R900): - - joint text - - date/time stamp - - LCD on remote - - personal disc memory. On top of that, the R500 doesn't have: - - mic input - - remote control The R700 and the R500 use AA batteries, no gumpacks. They are MDLP capable according to MDCP data entries. If anyone owns an MZ-R700 or MZ-R500 and can give a careful rundown of features they are missing when compared with the MZ-R900 (perhaps by having a look at the respective manuals), I'd be happy to add them to the Equipment Browser. In particular I'd like to know whether the MZ-R700/500: o will display Remaining Recording Time o really don't have date-time stamp o have playback speed control o have sound-1 and sound-2 presets o have digital rec-level control o have playback speed control I'm also still looking for manuals for the MZ-R700 and MZ-R500 units. Thanks, Rick p.s. I found that RadarCity.com is selling the MZ-R500 (a new-for-2001 model) for $130+$10 shipping. This is getting pretty close to the $100 MD recorder. It's taken nearly 10 years from MD's launch (well, the dollar has lost value in that time too!) - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
MD: off topic- cool edit
I used CoolEdit 96 almost from the start and upgraded to CE2000 several months ago. Many things are almost the same, so there isn't much of a learning curve, so far as I can see. Like WinME, the user interface looks a bit slicker. It probably has lots of little changes, so whether it'd be worth the price to you depnds on whether any of those changes are important to you. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: md-l-mimedigest V3 #9
Disks recorded on the x5 play well on the x5. likewise, disks recorded on the 702 play well on the x5 *AND* the 702. the only apparent problem is x5 - 702 This is strange -- does the MD recorded on the x5 ALSO sound bad ON the x5? I ask because ATRAC is backwards-compatible. A recording made on the x5 should sound exactly the same on the x5 as it does on the 702 (well, it will sound a bit different because of different amps, etc., but you know what I mean ;)). Sounds like one of the units is broken -- maybe the heads are misaligned in one of them. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: MD: off topic- cool edit
CE2000 support direct editing of MP3 files... and CE96 don't... so if you need this function.. it is a lot easier for you since you don't have to convert the files back and forth.
