MD: Portable Sony Minidisc Titling equipment?
Hey there guys... i've just got myself a Sony MZ-R900 portable MD recorder and i'm finding titling with the little jog dials quite a pain. does anybody know of any equipment or method of titling via the pc for portables? i've searched around and there seem to be those for decks via IR, but no sign of any for portables. thanks :) aaron - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
MD: Net MD revisited
Regarding Sonys proposed Net MD, right now all audio MD recorders record in some form of ATRAC. Would it require major additional electronics to be able to record MP3 files directly on to Mini Discs from a PC, via either USB or Firewire? To me this seems akin to Sonys eventually having to start making VHS recorders and tapes. If it was possible, the difference would be that the MD format could still remain intact, both physically the way Mini Discs are today, and electronically. But also including circuitry for accepting PCM and converting it to ATRAC. That way you could maintain backwards compatibility in still being able to record in ATRAC and playing ATRAC MDs made on other recorders. If it meant that you could not mix MP3 MDs and ATRAC MDs on the same disc, Id have no problem with that. For the longest time Sony has been making different means of storage for the same type of electronic equipment, e.g. Sony has their own digital Camcorder format, makes mini DV camcorders and also uses the Stick for storage. I they even make an MD camcorder? Actually Sony does make a recorder that can record MP3 files, their Data MD. But the discs are very expensive, not playable on audio MD recorders and I dont think that they are capable of being connected directly to an audio system to play MP3 files as audio files (like some DVD, auto and portable CD players can play MP3 CDs. MD: Xwave 7110 3d soundcard thingie
There was recently a discussion on the list about cmi chipsets which I missed. Damn. I recently bought an xwave 7100 sound card with optic out (which uses the cmi chipset). The quality is cool. My problems are: 1. When i do graphical stuff, my optic out starts to stutter. (2Mb pci graphics card, as it is only meant for audio work, and a network card, all on pci) 2. How can I get automatic track marks on my md when recording mp3's? The card was real cheap, only R150 (or $20). Even here in south africa that is dirt cheap for an optic sound card. Any help will be appreciated. The problem with the one that I got is that it's fully regulated. The output is a perfect 4.5V at all times. Apparently that's not even voltage for the Sharp. It will run off 4.5V, but it won't charge the battery. i had the same problem. i got a variable voltage one installed a 5v regulator in it, as mentioned a few posts ago. i have to run it at 9v it puts off some heat (i.e. wasted energy) but puts out a solid 5v the battery charges perfectly. peter - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
