 digital out.

If you want to listen to your CDs via digital out, then you have an issue
(and I have no idea where to get such cable - as I work a lot with
computers I've got my hands on a lot of differnet CD-ROM units, but none
had such cable included - so you're probably on a Do-It-Yourself path
now).

But if you just want to record from CDs (as to create MP3 files), you
should consider CDDA reading. It's much faster. :)

I have such a cable. Picked it up from our local pc supplier. This would not
help you as I am in South Africa :-) The digital cable cuts out a LOT of
noise. Like the man said, go for DIY. A cable like that should be very easy
to make.

It is fine for recording, but for normal playback it is not worth the cpu
time, even on a 1.4 Ghz system. (We've done test on ORDINARY 1.4 Ghz
systems, at it uses at least 10% of the cpu time)

MD: . digital cd-rom to soundcard cable

Hello MD people,

I've gone to two CompUSA stores in the area and neither have the digital
cable. This is not an optical cable. It's a small cable that goes from the
back of the CD-Rom to a thing on the soundcard. It looks similar to the
analog CD-Soundcard cable but it's smaller. Does anyone know what I'm
talking about? Any idea where I can order one?
