Re: MD: Sharp 722 for under $140 til 10pm!

Really? That's interesting. My girlfriend is getting one of those from the etown deal, and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'll have to check it out. On a different note, I was one of the people who got in on the JVC FSMD9000 at Buy.com for $219. I'm fairly picky about my audio, and planned on taking this unit to work for my desk, but after receiving it last week, I have to say that it may never leave the house ;-) The sound is surprisingly good for such a small system, including very impressive bass response, and it's a wonderful CD-MD recording unit. I love the fact that you can record a single track off a CD by just playing a track and hitting record -- it automatically returns to the beginning of the track, starts a synchro-record, and stops recording when the track ends (and writes the UTOC right then). The only complaint I have about it is the editing -- whenever you make a change (move, erase, title), it stops the MD and writes the UTOC. So if you want to title an entire disk, you have to play track 1, title, stop, then press play, forward to track 2, title, stop, etc. Each time you have to wait for it to re-read the UTOC and then move to the track you wish to edit. But other than that, It's a great unit, and I think it's worth $399 compared to some of the junk out there. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The MD-MS722 is an improved MD-MS702. The MD-MT15 is a stripped-down version of the MD-MT821, which replaced the '722 as Sharp's top of the line portable MD recorder until the MD-MT831 came out. The MT15 is a simpler unit than the '722. It costs less. If those are your criteria for comparison, then the MT15 is superior to the '722. Otherwise the MT15 is roughly comparable to the MS-702, though the latter gets the nod for the slot-load design. After sending my previous question, I did some surfing and found out some info on the MT15. You're right on about it: it's basically "MT821 lite." I would venture the opinion that the 702 is still a bit better in terms of ruggedness and features, although the MT15 has better battery life. If you're looking for a cheap recorder with good battery life, the MT15 is a good buy. Personally, it's a bit too limited in functionality for my tastes, so I think the extra $40 or so for the 722 is money well spent. I also have to add that the MD Community site is the *best* information resource I have seen for any "niche." There's so much info there, organized so well. When I need to find some info, I can always count on finding twice as much stuff as I need ;-) Incredible job, Rick. == Dan Frakes [EMAIL PROTECTED] == - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
