RE: MD: Sony PC Link with a Mac

Ah, I see -- since sound was no longer coming out of your speakers, you weren't sure if it was working. If you plug in headphones to your MD recorder, you should hear the sound fine there. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: MD: Sony PC Link with a Mac
I tried this just last night, after work. It was different than it was on the PC, with the PC a window popped up for setup. But with My Mac it just switched my sound output from my external speakers (which were plugged into the sound-out jack) to the USB port where my MD was now plugged in via PC-Link. It was really simple, although I thought it just still wasn't working because it seemed like nothing happened. I went to the sound control panel and there was no choice for USB as a sound output (OS 9.1), then I realized I wasn't hearing the familiar error beep and realized the speakers were on and connected but no sound was coming out. Every sound was now going to the MD. **Okay, I _just_ found a thread for this exact topic on MacNN forums while looking for a product link for all of you to see so you know which PC-link I'm talking about ** This makes what I wrote redundant - oh well. If interested go here:http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Forum4/HTML/001225.html Thanks for all of your help anyhow, it figures I'd find this link AFTER you all figured it out for me ;-) Hi Eric: I also have wondered how well the PC Link would work on a Mac. Could you post your experiences once you've had a chance to try it? - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: MD: Sony PC Link with a Mac (linux, too!)
Just for the record, I've been recording with XMMS under Linux (RH7.1) pretty much flawlessly for the last couple of days. I also have Win98 on my laptop and tried it last night, and it worked surprisingly poorly with WinAmp. Seemed like it was really struggling to keep up, and the MP3s were glitching a lot. Under Linux it works fine, but you've gotta watch out for APM kicking in, which will cause disruptions. _ B r i a n L a l o r [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hcirisc.cs.binghamton.edu/~blalor Spam me not. Now I found this list and I was wondering if one of you experienced MiniDisc guru's know of a fix for me - Mac drivers? I realize this is SUCH a newbie question, but I can't find info elsewhere. Thanks in advance for your input. MR-R70 or 700? I'm assuming that your PC Link is simply a rebadged Xitel unit? As long as you have Mac OS 9.0.4 or later, you should just be able to hook the PC Link up to one of your Mac's USB ports, select USB in the Audio Out section of the Sound control panel, and record away. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: MD: Sony PC Link with a Mac
Yeah, I have OS 9.1, soon to have OS X.1 ... I've never done the select USB in the Audio Out section of the sound control panel thing - it never occurred to me because on the PC it just popped right up, and I've never used another USB device where this would apply. I'm still new to my Mac too, actually. Thanks tons for the responses - Such a simple thing to miss and I assumed so quickly that it was just useless (the PC link) ;) I'm going to try it out straight-away when I get home today. I feel loads better about using the USB versus the non-optical audio-out. Thnx! Eric - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
