I think, I can use a dremel type tool and grind off enough of the plastic tab to let me remove the lens from the ring of metal. Then, I will either use some epoxy to add a bit back onto the tabs or else try to do what they originally did by heating up th end of a metal rod and using it to melt a new tab next to the original. I think I likely only need to do this to the two tabs located at the top of the unit. We shall see how that works. [MBZ] Sergeant Snorkle
'May have spoken to quickly yesterday; 'didn't realize the Sgt Snorkle stuff is so long. Anyway, a bit of embarrassment and reluctance because of the length, but here it is: SERGEANT SNORKLE By Wilton Strickland I graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB, TX, (San Antonio), in June, 1957, was promoted to A/3C (E-2) and traveled by bus to attend Aircraft Maintenance Training at Sheppard AFB, TX, (Wichita Falls). (I had been slated to attend Russian Language School at Syracuse, NY, or Monterey, CA, but a few days before graduating, I talked to the master sergeant in charge of assignments and got my assignment changed to aircraft maintenance - I had scored in the top percentile on all of the placement tests in all fields. I was afraid that immediately after finishing language school, I'd have to go on a remote assignment to Turkey or Korea and leave Alice (SWMBO) and our baby - I didn't want to seem like I was finking out on them, and I just could not bear the thought of being away from them for such an extended period. I also thought that aircraft maintenance could make me a better engineer in the long term. Several days after arriving at Sheppard, I started school. All of the aircraft and helicopter maintenance disciplines were taught at this school, including jet and reciprocating engines, airframe, hydraulics, instruments, electronics, electrical, metal working, etc. My training would encompass all aircraft systems, though, and qualify me to be a maintenance crew chief responsible for maintaining the entire aircraft. The class of about 200 was divided into academic sections of about 12 to 14 students each for ease of instruction, improved student participation, etc. Just as in basic training, I was four to five years older than most of the students, except a few non-commissioned officers (NCO's or sergeants) in the class who were retraining into the aircraft maintenance field from other specialties such as administration, transportation, supply, civil engineering, etc. Probably because of my age and higher-than-average placement test scores, I was placed in a section with about 12 or thirteen NCO's (several staff sergeants, three or four technical sergeants and two master sergeants). I was the only young airman in my section. Regardless of the differences in our military ranks, though, the sergeants treated me very well, and with much respect, especially after I scored 100 on the first weekly phase test. Each test had a written part and a practical part that required us to diagnose and repair certain malfunctions on classroom mock-ups of aircraft systems or on a C-130 training aircraft parked on the ramp near our hanger. We were arranged into two-man teams for the practical part of the tests. After the first test, the sergeants started having friendly little arguments among themselves over who was going to be my partner on future tests. As it turned out, we rotated for each test, so that we had different partners each time. Because I was the only peon (person of very low rank) in the section, I had an additional duty of straightening up and cleaning the room at the end of each day, but my classmates never left me to do it by myself. They all joined in every afternoon and helped me with it - we made a very good team - I never once had to do it all by myself. They also insisted that I call them by their first names, and we all quickly became very good friends. This made the training much more enjoyable, and I found it to be very easy. I continued to do very well on all the tests. Only two or three days after school started, Alice had joined me. She and her parents had driven my car from North Carolina. We immediately rented a very cheap, ragged two-room garage apartment in Wichita Falls, and I moved out of the barracks to be with her. We had only each other, a few clothes, $87 per month and a 51 Chevrolet, but we were also blessed with good health, reasonably good intelligence and a strong sense of integrity, tenacity, persistence, perseverance, determination and faith that we would eventually do well. On the first morning that I drove to the base from our apartment, traffic was much heavier than I expected. I was afraid I was going to be late getting to the barracks area, where all the students but the sergeants joined a large formation to march several blocks to the classroom hangers on the flight line. Afraid that the formation had already departed the barracks area, I drove straight to the parking lot beside my classroom hanger where the sergeants in my section parked. This worked so well that I continued to park in this lot with my NCO classmates for the duration of the training. By the time school started, I had already joined the base precision drill team, the Sheppard Drill Stars, and had already been appointed Flight Commander by the sergeant in charge, MSgt Shockley. We drilled for

[MBZ] Spare Key for 2004 Mercedes E320
Hi, I am looking to get a spare key for my 2004 E320 4matic. I called a local Mercedes dealer and they I would have to present my driver's license, registration and pay in advance ($270!!!). When the key arrived I would have to pick it up with the vehicle before they would release the key. I asked if I could purchase a used key on ebay and get it programmed. They said the keys are programmed one time according to the VIN and cannot be reprogrammed. Are there any other options to getting a new key which don't cost an arm and a leg? Re: [MBZ] Spare Key for 2004 Mercedes E320
In a nutshell, no. Keys, along with other such safety items, are dealer only, as far as I know. MB has really tightened up on this and makes it pretty near impossible to something like a key from anyone but them. Re: [MBZ] 115 Headlight trim? How do I separate the plastic from the chrome part?
I have not been able to get the lower lens out. The back of the blinker comes off easy. You might be able to dremel tool the tabs holding it in and somehow mate it to the good chrome. Try removing the blinker lens from the good chrome. See how that works and you might be able to learn about what you need to do to get the good lens off and swapped onto where it wants to go. clay On Mar 26, 2013, at 8:48 AM, Randy Bennell wrote: Is there a way to remove the plastic from the chrome? Try Trent at the Q number 800 741 5252. Q used to be able to get them at some discount, at least for the older cars. He will still require the same documentation. By 2004 MY, it may well be stealer only. As a safeguard against car theft, the keys can't be reprogrammed. Welcome to the world of electronix. Any option ain't gonna be like taking the ol key to the true value and gettin a new key for the old frod. Now frod, mb and everybody else uses the electonix ot the toada tadiefer nokey. (Or is that nokie?) Hi, I am looking to get a spare key for my 2004 E320 4matic.
