Re: [MBZ] OT bathtub drain repair options

2015-10-16 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Dan, I'll check again.

Kaleb, yes there is a screw that allows the stopper / top portion to be
removed, very handy for cleaning out hairballs etc.

Once the stopper is removed, there seat that provides the other half of the
seal is still mounted in the tub. If that seat has corroded, can it be
restored or would I need to remove and replace that?

[MBZ] A lesson how to handle goobers

2015-10-16 Thread Curly McLain via Mercedes

Make em SQUEAL! (sorry, that line was lifted from Lt. Col Senator Joni Ernst)

Source:
http://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/news-releases/grassley-presses-bureau-prisons-surveys-serving-pork

The ROTUS C (Resident of the US (Capital)) and his religious
cohorts worked behind the scenes to remove non ha lal products from
the menu of the institutional feeding systems for the Fed pri sons.
On wed of this week, that order was brought to light. Yesterday,
this letter was sent to the head goober for the pri sons:

Dear Director Samuels:

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the decision made by
the Federal Bureau of Prisons to remove all pork products from
federal prison menus. Although this decision apparently was made
several months ago, it was only made public upon the start of the new
fiscal year.

According to a spokesman for the Bureau of Prisons, the decision was
based on a survey of prisoners' food preferences that reflected that
pork has been the "lowest-rated food" by inmates for a number of
years.

To corroborate the validity of the claim that prisoners indicated a
lack of interest in pork products, I am requesting copies of the
prisoner surveys and responses that were used to support the
determination to no longer serve pork in federal prisons.
Additionally, the spokesman indicated that pork had been the lowest
rated food, "for several years." Please supply the surveys and
responses dating back as far as prisoners may have indicated their
dislike for pork products. In addition, please provide a line item
description of the costs incurred to conduct each survey performed.

The Bureau of Prisons' spokesman indicated that pork was expensive to
provide. Please provide any economic evaluations the Bureau of
Prisons has relied on that detail the cost of pork as compared to
beef, chicken, and non-meat products such as tofu and soy products.

The United States produces upwards of 92 percent of its own pork.
Alternative products may be more likely to be imported. The pork
industry is responsible for 547,800 jobs, which creates $22.3 billion
in personal incomes and contributes $39 billion to the gross domestic
product. The United States is the world's largest exporter of pork,
and the third largest producer of pork. This unprecedented decision
to remove pork from all federal prisons will have consequences on the
livelihoods of American citizens who work in the pork industry.

I am requesting the Federal Bureau of Prisons to answer my questions
and to provide the surveys and any data that was used when making
this sweeping decision no later than November 2, 2015.

Please send your responses and any questions to my Committee staff at
(202) 224-5225. Thank You.

Sincerely,

Charles E. Grassley
Chairman

are checking with the warehouse to see if just these were mislabeled or the

Not sure what they're going to offer at this point, but I'm open to

They said it probably wouldn't be until Monday before they heard back form the

Re: [MBZ] OT bathtub drain repair options

2015-10-16 Thread Randy Bennell via Mercedes

Does it not all unscrew from the drain?
I think there is a threaded hole in the center of the cross hatch in the
bottom of the drain.

You should be able to turn the whole thing out.
I think the set screw mentioned is to facilitate a height or depth
adjustment.

However, there may be other versions and your drain may not match the
one we have.

[MBZ] Question for Canadians

When I do see a box or two on the shelf, they are 2-3 times more
expensive than they were 8 years ago, and it it some less popular

Since 2008, ammunition and gun sales have set new records each week. While
the economy has been the worst on record, Americans have voted with their
wallet in response to the "hope and change agenda". It appears they
collectively do not feel safe and wish to increase their ability to defend
themselves.

So... the ammunition shortage is actually a demand spike which hasn't been
met by manufactures. Information which I've been able to access says they
are running at full capacity, 3 shifts, 24/7, and still have unfilled
orders going forward 12 months ahead.

That order/demand peaks in a second wave each time a politician waves the
"more gun control" laws are needed flag...

Americans, it appears, take the whole Bill of Rights seriously... .

He has been using low power 22LR in an effort to reduce noise as we are

[MBZ] OT Stock cars

2015-10-16 Thread Rich Thomas via Mercedes
My birthday is today, my wife got me a Richard Petty Rookie Driving
Experience at Charlotte Speedway. 5 laps of the track, me driving with
an instructor in the right seat. Way too short a run but it was
awesome. Record said I got up to about 130mph, lap speeds over 100mph
the last 2. A few more laps and I could have done better after getting
more familiar with the track and car. The cars are very powerful, huge
torque, and make the right noises. I'm guessing the real race cars are
a lot more powerful. I got a video of my run, camera inside and
outside, I'll try to post it to the utuber sometime. Lots of fun, they
do them at tracks all over the country.

I had to wait awhile to get in my car, the guy who was driving it before
me was a big fat guy and he got stuck and couldn't get out. Took two of
the workers to drag him out. I was trying hard not to laugh.
