Assuming I throw a bid on this and win what are the chances it's
drivable from LA to IN?

I have a 1990 190e 2.6. It is very fun to drive in a spirited fashion, but it
does suck fuel at a prodigious rate. I probably need to replace some (all) the

Actually they have the free evening reception with food and alcohol and regular
full breakfast in the morning. I asked them and they said they never shut it
down here. There are only about 6 cars in the parking lot though. I was just
looking out my window when a car pulled up with New York plates and a big

Re: [MBZ] idiot neighbors

2020-05-08 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
In unincorporated Hillsborough County where I live, if you put a fence up
without a permit it can be removed by the County. If it encroaches on the
adjacent property, the property owner can pretty much do whatever they want to
it.

Fence companies in the area won’t even talk to you unless you have an original
copy of a survey for your property. The County permit requires it, too.

Re: [MBZ] idiot neighbors

2020-05-08 Thread Karl Wittnebel via Mercedes
Have it staked by the surveyor. If on your side, you can do what you like
with it, demo or whatever. Might want to start by building a fence a few
inches on your side of the actual line to clearly delineate what is what.
If your fence is to code and has whatever permits are required, then there
is nothing they can do about it. And the fence he built is not his fence -
it is your fence (presuming it is on your side). So again feel free do do
what you like with it.

Here in CA there are regulations for construction runoff. You should
probably call the building inspector and complain they are not in
compliance for erosion control.

If you leave the neighbor-built fence where it is then after a few years he
can argue it is an agreed boundary line.

Re: [MBZ] Hotels

2020-05-08 Thread G Mann via Mercedes
I would suggest, training your children is important, training yourself is
even more important.
If you carry "off body" in a purse, for example, you are still responsible
for where that weapon is at all times. "I was busy with -- and and
I forgot, is not valid... ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOUR GUN IS AND MAINTAIN
CONTROL OF IT.. is the only valid rule.

Having kids, who have kids visit to play with them, presents yet another
spectrum of responsibilities as an armed parent.
Biometric quick access safes might be your better choice in the home, and
car. Locked up and loaded might become the "safe choice" for all guns in
the home, again, with quick access possible for the adults [in the dark
when things go bump and glass breaks, etc]

If you have a pool and you have kids, you have a fence and a locked gate
around that pool because of the risk... Being a responsible parent, you
also keep track of your floor rats to know they have not defeated those
safe guards to commit suicide by drowning... Yet, thousands of children
have, while parents were "otherwise occupied" not a good choice.

Same mind set needs to be in place with children and guns... you teach the
kids to swim, bu*t also teach* them not to swim without you being near
by... Same application, with guns..

There* always has to be an adult in the room... until you*r kid can be the
adult, you're it...
Welcome to parenting... and no, you don't get a vacation...

But you cannot train a 3 or 4 year old well enough to trust that they
will do what they are supposed to do with a gun so it is still a bad
idea to keep loaded guns loose in your home, or car etc. I don't know
how many times I have read of some young child taking a hand gun out of
mom's purse and shooting her in the car. Very young children should not
have any access to loaded firearms. Neither should older children for
that matter. A child needs to be at least a "young adult" before they
are permitted any unsupervised access to firearms and ammunition. You
are all correct that everyone should be properly trained but there has
to be some reality to all of that too. I recall a news report of some
family in the USA who gave their quite young son his own .22 rifle which
he subsequently used to shoot and kill his younger sister. I don't
recall the age of the boy but when I read the story I was truly amazed
that the parents could be so foolish. I don't believe they were charged
either. The local law said it was "just a tragic accident". Guns are not
inherently bad but carelessness can be very costly. I would assume the
folks who lost their little daughter will have a lasting reminder. I
also wonder if the little boy will have lasting effects from the
knowledge that he killed his little sister.

You also need to be mindful of the fact that even if you train your own
children well, you may have children of various ages as visitors to your
home and need to ensure they do not get their hands on a loaded gun.

For three years, Dad lived in a tent and flew P-47s in China. He loved the

seldom talked about combat but teared up when he did. His eight

In all seriousness, all children should be trained in gun safety.
You can't childproof every gun your kid might come into contact with, so
gunproof your kid.

I knew a guy who has taught thousands of kids in SoCal.
I don't know if he does it, but we're talking dozens of kids on hundreds
of Saturdays.
I can't find any mention of it on his website.
I hope the cop range he used didn't terminate the youth program.

Anyone who was properly trained would know not to break ALL THREE of the
critical safety rules,
even if they'd never seen that particular species of gun before and had no idea
how to clear it.
To which I add a fourth rule (displacing the traditional fourth rule):

4) If you've ever seen it on a screen, it's wrong. Don't do it.

Absolutely. Everybody who lived in that house bears some degree of
responsibility.
The stupid kid, the most. He DID it, after all, the murderous little bastard.

I was only PRETENDING to murder my friend, using this real gun that I stole..."
