[OK Don via Mercedes]

I used a 5 gallon fuel can and an old house tank vacuum cleaner for a
make-shift "Topsider" that worked surprisingly well considering that the
plastic 5 gallon can collapsed under the leaky vacuum. The hand pumped
Topsider did not appeal to me, but you should be able to substitute an
electric suction source for the hand pump and make it work for you.

The w124 diesels are a different animal from w123. Finned aluminum pan that is 
not straightforward to remove and probably expensive as hell.

later, and at zero cost, I had a perfectly usable truck.  It also is 
fun to mash the go pedal.  It ought to be, with an 8-liter engine!

That was what I discovered driving the 'bad tranny' Dodge V10.  Mostly the 
transmission was in limp mode (2-3-R only),
but one day it wasn't, and then it was again.  Aha, thinks I, an electrical

I wouldn't think it likely that you will set the engine oil on fire in 
the length of time it would take to weld something onto the plug. Why 
not use a Nut rather than a socket. Just hold it up there with vice 
grips and weld in the middle of the nut.

Since the drain plug head is already destroyed, I'd try one of those
sockets meant for removing rounded-off bolts. They have teeth that bite
into the fastener, and I've had good luck with them. Available at Harbor
Fright or probably any big box store.

I got my first Pfizer dose almost 2wk ago, no reaction whatsoever except for 
minor soreness at the injection site (a former nurse relative says get it in 
your dominant arm as more motion will help alleviate that more quickly). I’m 
reading that the first dose makes a good part of the antibodies so that’s 
comforting. 

I’m ready to resume normal programming. I started going back to the gym which I 
think I has given me much more benefits than risk of covids hazards. I was 
feeling like a total slug after months of not going and that was awful. I can 
really feel the difference already, I feel so much better.

[MBZ] OT: Tim Dorsey books?

I'm working through his second book right now "Hammerhead Ranch Motel". 
They're (all?) set it Florida and the 3rd book revolves around a fictional 
gubernatorial election.
Frankly, they're hilarious, each one starts slow but builds to a crescendo of 
absurdity, good stuff.
