Folks,

I solved the code problem

Messaged the ebay seller and he said it’s your lucky day and gave me the code

It’s 64211 if you want to steal my radio (I also wrote it in sharpie on the top 
of the unit.

Well, it mounted perfectly, powered up and took the code. I eliminated the 
adapter harness and adapter antenna wire and the jvc radio and the plugs all 
fit the Becker

It gets a million stations and right side speaker works which was not with the 
JVC

Great radio for $25 delivered

As for the codes, I think the code is in the vin info registery BUT this is an 
orphan radio now

Supposedly there is a .pdf of all Becker codes around  and supposedly with 
model# and radio serial you can look it up

Anyway I am happy ... I’m about to drive the sprinter to chincoteague island to 
pick up a Bajaj  3 wheeled rickshaw like pickup that I hope to sell for 10.5 k 

I just finished removing windshield and bondo-Ing the metal and painting it ... 
was rusty and had small holes

It’s good... I had pros r and r it for $130

I also replaced the alternator and some tensioner wheels and serpentine belt 
and brake light switch ... seems ok

I drove it from tybee to Aiken sc to Athens ga and back on one tank of some 25 
or so gallons

 Cap-ex vs Op-ex. When I first got out of college everything was supposed to be 
cap-ex. Buy hardware so we didn't have to spend people time on stuff. Now 
you're supposed to turn everything into op-ex. I've got a whole bunch of VM 
servers that would be great to train on but rather than getting me a $200/mo 
dedicated internet line we spend $2,000/mo in Microsoft Azure...

costs, often many times over, rather than do a better job up front, because

It does. Most won’t even acknowledge the existence of the VMI. Mine won’t let 
owners see it, and if a service writer catches you with one they freak out. I 
know because I showed one to a service writer for the now Okie E320 CDI to 
check for the sunroof recall and they freaked out. “Where did you get this? 
You’re not supposed to have this!!” Blah, blah blah.

I told the guy that I had been a commercial customer of theirs before he was 
born. Right then the GM walked by and said “Hi!” to me. That pretty much shut 
him down.

Maybe just reflecting the overall rise in used car prices then.

Don't ask me how dealers think. It's like rental real estate. Judging
from what I see on the commercial markets here, landlords seem to prefer
keeping a high asking rent on vacant properties than they do cutting the
rent and getting a paying tenant.

asked some girl in the service area to run the VMI, she printed it right off. 
Wasn’t a lot in it but there had been a fair amount of warranty work done the 
first few years. Maybe it depends on the particular stealer.

[MBZ] 06 W211 E350 Coolant hose Connections

Hi Gang -
    I am finally working to get my 06 e350AWD back on the road. When 
replacing my Alternator I partially removed the lower Rad Hose by 
releasing the hose where it enter the bottom of the engine by removing 
the spring clip and disconnecting the hose.   I have new Spring Clips 
and was told to put the spring clip on the hose nozzle (bottom of 
engine) and insert the hose until it clips into place.
    I think that's exactly what I have been trying to do but the hose 
will not connect.  This is the 1st time I have working with this type of 
hose connection and just cannot get the hose to click!  Anyone know any 
tricks or have words of wisdom to help me get the hose to click into

Nope. Only place you would get that is in the Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI), 
which Mercedes won’t give you in most cases. That and it only contains the 
events where a vehicle was serviced or seen by a dealer.
