Definitely use the proper CVT oil for that transmission, preferably Subaru, or
at least OE. Regular ATF is not compatible with CVTs.

If you define prematurely as immediately. 30A will barely run _one_ glow plug,
if cold.
In a pinch, I've used wire from CAT5 cable. As many strands in parallel as it
takes to
survive a cold start. But no more than that.

Glenny can go to Harbor Freight and buy a cheap IR thermometer (or one
of those oven thermometers on a wire that can go down the fill tube) to
point at the transmission case and when it reaches 100F take the level
measurement and then the sister can rest easy that All Is Good With The
World, Glenny has not destroyed her baby, and the Subaru Warranty Gods
will be appeased.  If he used the correct fluid (which is likely very
specific and fairly expensive) no one will know he changed it.

Will this void their warranty? On these things the CVT fluid gets changed at

2023-05-06 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
AFAIK changing fluids can't void your warranty as long as you put in the right
amount of the right stuff. Keep receipts to prove that it is the right stuff.
If Subaru fluid is used I'd keep my yap shut about it at the dealership, how
are they going to know?
I suspect the proper Subaru stuff has a tracer in it so they can test it for
warranty purposes. CVTs are known to be sensitive to fluid quality and change
interval.

And likely engine too.

Very Clean Car. Has been sitting since December 2022 will need a jump to
start. It will most likely need some sort of transmission work done but
it is drivable. You can pay CASH and drive it away. This was my daily
drive for 2 1/2 years.

I bought another car and want it GONE...out of my driveway.

First $2,500 takes it. Bring jumper cables
