Well it's a coupe, it appears to be very nice, no dash cracks, no steering wheel cracks (or well repaired) but Why sell a car like this on CL? Post it on BaT or consign it to a high-end auction. [MBZ] Fwd: Re: DEF system eliminated - 2012 Sprinter 2500
The SCR is like a catalytic converter that you add special fuel to. So by eliminating it, I wouldn't expect much other than not having to buy fluid for it. The DPF regenerates by blowing diesel out the exhaust valves to burn in the exhaust. Eliminating that should save you some diesel. Re: [MBZ] MB heads, advise please
Ahh, those were the days (shaking cane at the kids on my lawn.) The issue of leaks with synthetic oils was greatly exaggerated, unfortunately. If you have leaks, yes, they may well get worse with a synthetic because of the oil’s properties. If you have an engine without leaks, using synthetic isn’t going to cause/create leaks. I’ve used Mobil 1 for decades, and never had an issue with oil leaks. Did some of my cars “mark their territory?” Sure, but no worse than if they had dino oil in them, I believe. If I had an engine that was leakig badly, I also wouldn’t waste a synthetic oil on it, either. That said, there are plenty of MB diesels out there running or were running on dino oil their whole lives and they’re just fine. -D > On Jun 28, 2024, at 9:04 AM, Bob Rentfro via Mercedes > wrote: > > I didn’t think an oil thread could get any better, then Herr Doktor Booth and > Rusty are both mentioned….(sniff..sniff). > > AZBob > > Sent from my iPhone > >> On Jun 28, 2024, at 6:42 AM, Troy Kocher via Mercedes >> wrote: >> >> Thanks for the welcome Dan! >> >> In my past M1 was exactly what I was using back when buying parts from >> Rusty and listening to the wise council of Marshal Booth. Re: [MBZ] MB heads, advise please
Thanks for the welcome Dan! In my past M1 was exactly what I was using back when buying parts from Rusty and listening to the wise council of Marshal Booth. Not sure if you guys know of them but they both really helped me do the care & feeding of my W123's back in 07. Found it interesting the PPI mechanic I found in Atlanta strongly advised against synthetic in the diesel W123 as he has seen many leaks over the 30,000 cars he has serviced of his time owning the shop. I never had that trouble but my experience set was much smaller than his. On Thu, Jun 27, 2024 at 3:31 PM dan penoff.com via Mercedes < mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > Great first post, Troy! This will be my daily driver, as I'll probably unload my 06 CDI w/ 250k needs ABS & the interior is falling apart, my bride is not excited, she loves that car. I owned all my W123s in a previous life. She said she grew up hating the look of the W123 :-) Funny we may have one in the family now.. I haven't heard complaints about the DEF system on the Sprinters like I have on MB's passenger vehicles. Maybe the Freightliner influence made it better? VW's DEF system seems pretty solid. At least I've never had an issue with it in my 2015 Jetta.
