Re: [MBZ] its BACK
It looks like the 240D manual tranny will find its way into my 300D. The 280 is in fact a Euro. Too bad the body is not in better shape. It is bright red in color and has the gentleman's name who took delivery of it inside the driver's side door. It also sports the cool cloth interior. I might transpose that to my 300D as well (since it is also a Euro). Anyone for a inline six complete with tranny? -Scott You want the 300D engine with the 300D differential if you chose to change things around. Others have covered most of the pitfalls. adjusintg the linkage seems like the easiest way out. NO, the Gasser trans is not an interchange for the Diesel Somebody might want a 280 twin cam. Is yours a Euro? At 09:24 PM 1/23/2006, you wrote: >Thanks for all of your input! Have any of you or anyone you kow ever >completed the swap from automatic to manual? Thanks for all of your input! Have any of you or anyone you kow ever completed the swap from automatic to manual? Just curious. Last week I purchased a 1982 W123 280 gasser due to its price and close proximity. Although the body is rusty, it has a good running straight six complete with dual overhead cams and a factory split manifold exhaust system. Would the automatic transmission out of this car work behind my five cylinder diesel? I would imagine that operating RPMs are similar. Is there a market for this inline six motor? Anybody need one? -Scott
[MBZ] Will 240D Manual Tranny fit up to a 300D that came with an Automatic?
Could I remove the manual tranny from a 240D and put it into my 300d that currently sports an automatic? I bought the car for a pretty good price knowing it did not shift into high gear. When I got it home and put it up on our lift, I discovered a brand new rebuilt tranny complete with new or rebuilt torque converter. Since I'm not sure how to fix it, I thought about buying on older 240D with a manual tranny and performing the swap. Can this be done? Sincerely, -Scott

Re: [MBZ] Bimota?? (was: Wheel Upgrade?)
Dave, My 1997 Bimota YB-11 that just turned over 4000 miles last fall will be up for auction on Ebay in tyhe next month or so. When my wife and I ride, we take my Bimota Mantra because it is more comfortable for her. If your interested, or know someone who is, let me know. Sincerely, -Scott
Re: [MBZ] Wheel Upgrade?
Roger, I put a set of stock 16" S Class wheels from a 2003 model on my 1985 300D. You can find a set of 4 complete with tires on Ebay for 3-400 dollars depending upon the condition of the tires. My fitment required a set of adapters which I also found on Ebay. The seller's name was something like "Ernie's". Everybody that sees it comments on how good it looks. Some have even asked if it was a new car! It was the best $600.00 I spent in a while. -Scott -- Original Message -- From: "Roger Conlon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: Mercedes Discussion List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Wed, 18 Jan 2006 12:29:37 -0600 >Any opinions of these style and size wheels/rims for a upgrade 15" to 16" >on 126 300SDL? >To high priced? > >Ebay Item # 8030036342 > >Thanks >Roger > >_ >Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! [MBZ] Will Tranny out of a 280 work in my 300D
Yesterday I purchased a 1982 European 280 W123. Its a little rusty but the motor runs weell. I purchased it strictly for parts and wondered if the automatic transmission in it would work in my 1985 300D? The motor is a solid looking straight six with overhead cams and a split manifold. Is it good for anything and is there a market for such a thing? Thank you in advance for your replies. Sincerely, -Scott
