Plain and simple... I ran out of money. I know that the parts were paid for, 
but I had to float the cost on a daily basis. When a customer pays, it takes 2 
to 3 days for it to get to me. The vendors would not grant me a credit line. 
It's plain and simple. For 2 months I took care of my personal crap ( divorce ) 
and gained financing for this company. I am now set. The money it takes to run 
this business has been my problem from day one. You may order a 30 $ part, 
while the next guy orders a 2000.00 trany. I floated that, I was not prepared.

My god Gary, let it go, I had to pay for the refunds of credit cards, and it 
was around 2000.00 not tens of thousands. I paid more in your past debt than 
that. Kaleb asked to stop this back and fourth, so no more. I know you provide

I will be on the lists. I am starting a new sales office for WorldPac, at their 
Atlanta warehouse. I am going back to my original roots of selling to 
independent garages. I did this for 20 years before buyMBparts. It is a lot of 
fun as well. I am blessed to have had jobs that are really not work but a 
pleasure.

A search on the internet for Trent Fiorini brings up a guy in IL who works
for a flooring business, along with other members of his family.  Is this
our man?  I wouldn't think so, as a well run local floor business could do
much better than a single guy trying to sell car parts on the internet.
 With big guys like autohausaz out there cornering the market with cheap
chinese parts, it seems like a very bad time to get into the parts business
as a new guy.

Craig, my wife Teri, had over 7 years of pain and the same issues you speak of. 
Finally she did the same thing and went to a spine specialist. She was told the 
exact same thing and ALL our friends and family said "don't do it, you'll never 
be the same". Well, we too prayed about it and chose the laminectomy and 
fusion. It has been 2 years and our friends were right, she isn't the same. She 
is 200 percent better! It was the best thing we ever did. She can pick up 
grandchildren for the first time, walk 3 miles at a time and do things she 
hasn't done in years. It was a good 6 month recovery time but trust the Lord 
and go for it, you will never be sorry. The 6 inch scar is a small price to pay

I have been through a very providential set of circumstances recently
that has brought me a medical diagnosis of my recent tingling of limbs
and chest/back and some difficulty walking.

Shirley had a periodic checkup for her seizures scheduled with her
neurologist in Santa Fe at the end of December and I drove here there.
During her appointment, which was short, being just a "Hi, how are you
doing" kind of thing, I asked if I might ask a question. I related my
feelings of tingling and one time when I stood up from sitting on the
floor painting baseboards I felt like an electric shock sensation in my
legs.

The neurologist had me get up on her exam table, did some poking and
prodding, and said I needed to get an MRI of my head and neck. I saw my
Primary Care Physician's (PCP) Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (CFNP)
assistant, who started the proceedings. I got the MRIs on 9 January. I
was back in the PCP's office on 14 January. Because of all of the
neurology jargon in the MRI report, the CFNP referred me back to
Shirley's neurologist. I immediately called for an appointment and got
one for yesterday, 17 January (something unheard of in that doctor's
practice -- it usually takes months to get in).

During yesterday's appointment, Shirley's neurologist (now mine) said I
should see a neurosurgeon who had an office downstairs from hers. She
recommended we make the appointment on the way out of the building. We
did that and were told there was a cancellation for today.

At the appointment this morning, the neurosurgeon showed Shirley and me
the images from the MRIs. He pointed out some significant narrowing of my
spinal cord in the region of the 7th cervical vertebra and the 1st
thoracic vertebra and said I had a sick spinal cord. He said I needed
surgery. He said it wasn't an emergency, but that I did need to get it
taken care of soon.

His assistant came in to talk scheduling and was ready to schedule
surgery for me on Monday. I said I wanted to talk with some people, so I
did not schedule. His assistant gave me a packet of materials with all
the information about pre-surgery blood tests, EKG, and X-ray and sent us
on our way. The packet says the surgery is a cervical laminectomy and
fusion of two vertebrae.

So! We definitely need prayer for wisdom about how to proceed and that
the Lord would open the doors to the right place and surgeon for proper
care and recovery, among other things.

Craig, my wife Teri, had over 7 years of pain and the same issues you speak of. 
Finally she did the same thing and went to a spine specialist. She was told the 
exact same thing and ALL our friends and family said "don't do it, you'll never 
be the same". Well, we too prayed about it and chose the laminectomy and 
fusion. It has been 2 years and our friends were right, she isn't the same. She 
is 200 percent better! It was the best thing we ever did. She can pick up 
grandchildren for the first time, walk 3 miles at a time and do things she 
hasn't done in years. It was a good 6 month recovery time but trust the Lord 
and go for it, you will never be sorry. The 6 inch scar is a small price to pay 
for pain free living. If you want any more info about it just give me a call.

I have been through a very providential set of circumstances recently
that has brought me a medical diagnosis of my recent tingling of limbs
and chest/back and some difficulty walking.

Shirley had a periodic checkup for her seizures scheduled with her
neurologist in Santa Fe at the end of December and I drove here there.
During her appointment, which was short, being just a "Hi, how are you
doing" kind of thing, I asked if I might ask a question. I related my
feelings of tingling and one time when I stood up from sitting on the
floor painting baseboards I felt like an electric shock sensation in my
legs.

The neurologist had me get up on her exam table, did some poking and
prodding, and said I needed to get an MRI of my head and neck. I saw my
Primary Care Physician's (PCP) Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (CFNP)
assistant, who started the proceedings. I got the MRIs on 9 January. I
was back in the PCP's office on 14 January. Because of all of the
neurology jargon in the MRI report, the CFNP referred me back to
Shirley's neurologist. I immediately called for an appointment and got
one for yesterday, 17 January (something unheard of in that doctor's
practice -- it usually takes months to get in).

During yesterday's appointment, Shirley's neurologist (now mine) said I
should see a neurosurgeon who had an office downstairs from hers. She
recommended we make the appointment on the way out of the building. We
did that and were told there was a cancellation for today.

At the appointment this morning, the neurosurgeon showed Shirley and me
the images from the MRIs. He pointed out some significant narrowing of my
spinal cord in the region of the 7th cervical vertebra and the 1st
thoracic vertebra and said I had a sick spinal cord. He said I needed
surgery. He said it wasn't an emergency, but that I did need to get it
taken care of soon.

His assistant came in to talk scheduling and was ready to schedule
surgery for me on Monday. I said I wanted to talk with some people, so I
did not schedule. His assistant gave me a packet of materials with all
the information about pre-surgery blood tests, EKG, and X-ray and sent us
on our way. The packet says the surgery is a cervical laminectomy and
fusion of two vertebrae.

So! We definitely need prayer for wisdom about how to proceed and that
the Lord would open the doors to the right place and surgeon for proper
care and recovery, among other things.

This was labeled as OT, and even had a descriptive title indicating exactly
what would be in the post.  I have in the past noted an interest in firearms
by some of the list members.  If it does not pertain to you, you didn't even
have to open the message.  It was only directed at those who are interested.
Why did you even look at the contents if it's not your area of interest?  I
see many messages on this list that are not of particular interest to me;
and many others that are very interesting and broaden my knowledge.  I
personally am very grateful for the diversity, experience and intelligence
the list members provide.  I don't see how making certain topics off-limits
would be good for the list.

Or perhaps you are as opposed to the 1st. as much as to the 2nd.

Feel free to press the delete button, or if the free exchange of ideas is
too disturbing by all means exercise the nuclear option!

I had a 1961 Corvette convertible for a year, it was a pretty nice ride. Not 
real smooth but a head turner. Black with black interior. 4 speed manual. It

Exactly Dan, I was going to stay out of this, but MB put the cats "in" the 
engine compartment and made it the worst of all SL models. Check out the book 
by John Olsen. When I first started in this insane business in 1976, we sold 
more parts on that car than any other. Mercedes figured it out and moved the 
cats under the car.

I just think about all of the 1975 450SLs I've looked at that had roasted fuel 
lines, D-Jet issues, etc.

When I was considering buying one a few years back, I can't count the number of 
1975 models I saw - tons of them. They were almost all roasted under the hood

Chinese aftermarket that look exactly like the real thing. I have a set on my 
'91 560SEC and they balanced out just like Genuine as well. I have a very 
smooth ride and they look great. They come with lugs and center caps which 
Mercedes does not include at 4 times the price.

Path is normally:

Battery => small starter terminal => ignition switch => charge light => 
alternator exciter terminal

Add in a bunch of relays and connectors in between, natch. 

In other words check the connections at the starter.

Folks - this is why our list sponsor is loved.
NAPA supplies the MTC chinee part - blew apart after 4 hours of use.
Replacements were supplied, which we glued and hope will be good for a
while.
You don't see pictures of these part numbers to compare?

I called the HR person at the Keck Observatory this afternoon to let them
know I was still interested.

The HR person said they were bringing some people over for in-person
interview, but that I wasn't one of them. He thanked me for applying and
said to not give up on them, that something might happen or the people
they were bringing there might not work out and they would be calling me
back.

I have found another interesting position (with Raytheon BBN
Technologies) and am working on a cover letter to apply for that position.

Eldest son came in and advised me the the turn signals on the 92 300E aren't 
working.  He had to go to class, so I sent him on his way - he'll be returning 
late this afternoon.

Our quick/initial check showed that fuse #6 was good as were the other items 
powered by it.

He said that when he started up the car, the recirculation rocker switch was 
blinking and there was a "clicking" noise coming from the console area.  Not 
sure what the relationship would be between the recirculation circuit and the 
turn signals.

I am in the process of opening up the wiring diagram on the Startek site, but 
if anyone has any prior knowledge of such issues, lemme know

They are "MIL-Spec" circular connectors (I don't remember off the top of
my head which one, though). A typical part number for a bulkhead mount
receptacle is MS3102-14S-5P. The part number for the mating cable plug is
MS3106-14S-5S. They are made by a number of different manufacturers.
Cannon (now ITT Cannon, correct spelling), Amphenol, and Spectra are
among those who make them.

Easiest test: get the engine good and hot. Open the hood, rev the
engine
to about 3000rpm and you should hear/feel the fan roar. At higher RPMs
it
should disengage, theory being that if you are at higher RPM you are
moving
quickly enough that there will be natural airflow through the radiator.

If you want, you can always test by rigging up a "lock" on the fan to
prevent the clutch from slipping (wire wrap or something). If it still
runs
hot with the fan locked, that implicates the radiator.

In all probability, the radiator is shot. I had mine recored; it was a
piece of cake to remove (no oil cooler and no transmission cooler).
They
did a fantastic job on the rebuild for about $300.

Long shot: does your thermostat housing have a bleed screw like the
M115
and OM617.91 engines? If there's air trapped at the thermostat, that
could
prevent it from opening fully.

We make it every weekend for our 4 grand daughters. Fresh strawberry in season, 
peach, vanilla and of course chocolate. We've made a few others but these are 
the ones the little ones like. Since I am diabetic, we use Splenda instead of 
sugar, it takes a little longer to freeze but works out fine for everyone. It 
beats the heck out of store bought crap.

Has anyone had bad experiences with any of the above?  Good experiences? 
   I tried to find specs (like filter size) but did not find any.

Should I assume they are equal?  Assume the most expensive is the best 
filter?

My '87 300D (126 kmi) began shifting slightly harshly today; not nearly 
neck-jerking but certainly noticeably more so than ever before.  Suggestions?  
'Didn't get chance to check fluid level today; 'plan to tomorrow.  Fluid and 
filter change?
BTW, 'don't know what's in it; whatever was in it when I got it 8 years ago; 
'doubt it's M1.

Yes. In Harlingen,Texas and Walla Walla, Washington. Then 12 missions as pilot 
in a B-24 flying from London to Berlin each time. He had some great stories, 
but never told them until he was in his 80's. He was my Hero for sure. He had a 
paper weight that was piece of shrapnel from an 88mm gun that hit his plane one 
time. All on board kept a piece but he got the largest. It is pretty cool. It 
has 3 yellow bands around the outside of it. It will be in our family forever I 
imagine.

Then a 1981 380SL. I would love to still have all 3 today. Love the wind! But

I assumed my '99 E320 wagon had an improved popup glass sunroof, not
susceptible
to the problems that make me afraid to use the sunroof in a 124 or newer
201.

Today, whatever mechanism moves the sunroof doesn't seem to be working on
the
left side. I opened it and it went halfway as usual, then when I hit the
switch
again to open it the rest of the way it jammed. When I got out of the car I
could see that it wasn't opened evenly, and I managed to shut it by
shoving the
left side forward by hand as I worked the switch. But when it closed, the
right
side rose up flush with the roof and left rear corner stayed down. I took
the
cover off the emergency crank hole and can see it turn when the motor
runs, so
the crank won't help me any.

How do I operate the mechanism that raises the left rear corner of the roof
panel, so I can get it sealed and leave it that way until I'm ready (if
ever) to
rebuild the roof?

Does anybody have the 210 roof .pdf file?

could see that it wasn't opened evenly, and I managed to shut it by
shoving the
left side forward by hand as I worked the switch. But when it closed, the
right
side rose up flush with the roof and left rear corner stayed down. I took
the
cover off the emergency crank hole and can see it turn when the motor
runs, so
the crank won't help me any.

How do I operate the mechanism that raises the left rear corner of the roof
panel, so I can get it sealed and leave it that way until I'm ready (if
ever) to
rebuild the roof?

Does anybody have the 210 roof .pdf file?

I use mine all the time. I have driven rag tops since I was 16 and love the 
wind. When I lower the windows and open the roof on my 126 coupe, it is close 
to having no top. Great feeling.

I have a book of old-timey recipes for use with cast-iron cookware, one of
which is an excellent squirrel stew.

How does one determine the health of the critter destined for the stew pot?
Can they have health problems that would cause one to not use them for food?

same milage on them. I have never understood the one side at a time theory.

True but when you do only one wheel as in a repair you can't judge what amount 
constitutes half the tube. I know that they should be done in pairs but 
realistically this doesn't always happen.

If you're going to drive your Mercedes 150 mph, you need MB wheel bearing
grease.  Otherwise good quality standard wheel bearing grease is all you

problem.
