Re: [MBZ] nails in the coffin
The Prius owner took his car to the dealer and was told it was NOT on the recall list. Nothing was done to the Prius. All the rods have to be with a certain number of grams in weight from each other. I can't remember what it is exactly. My book is a couple of thousand miles away. Did you remove one of the others to balance the new one? I reused the head bolts on my OM603.961 rebuild and they were all within spec. A few months later I found coolant in my #5 cylinder. I've replaced the fan on a W115 a little over 20 years ago. I've also removed dashs from W123s ans W201s. The W115 was by far the worst. I even tried to drive the W115 without the dash and I forgot about the oil pressure sensor line and felt the hot oil on my leg. I want to install a diesel into an older Jeep Cherokee but also want to avoid having to adjust valves all the time. So a smaller sized engine is good. HMMM if it was in the G class that would mean that it can have the 4wd option also, Can't it. That would be cool as long as it has the same power of the 3.0. Re: [MBZ] What do y'all think?
I don't think I've got it so wrong. I stated that the several states could do what they want as long as it doesn't interfere with the rights that have already been recognized (I won't say granted, because the constitution doesn't grant rights, it only recognizes the ones we already have) Our courts over the last 200 years have gently twisted the commerce clause to mean anything that effects an individual via commerce. This is wrong. The original intent I believe is that Congress has power to specify rules to govern the manner by which people may exchange or trade goods from one state to another, and to remove obstructions to domestic trade erected by states. Looking at this I realize that much lower emission standards could be a restriction to domestic trade and therefore 'may' therefore be regulated by congress. Hmmm, I didn't think that one through all the way before. However, it doesn't nullify my position that the states can operate individually as long as it is kept within the bounds of the constitution. For example, if you want free health care. Move to a state that offers it. It is not in the power (via the constitution) for the federal government to provide this service. If there's not a used set lying around, my next best bet is to go to Metric Motors which will sell me a balanced set ready to install. Re: [MBZ] Hello - Need connecting rods - OM603 - 300SDL
I went and ordered the set from Metric. I think I'll be happy with then, although it really hurt to pay for them. :-) The are the third version (with 2 oiling holes for wrist pin) that first cam out in 9/88. They have been reconditioned with new bushings and have been balanced. I just need to put them in. There is one more thing I need that I keep forgetting about. I need the 4 inch long 8mm diameter guide rail pin that goes through the head. The one I have is bent and cracked at the end. Mike LaFleur From: Kaleb C. [MBZ] Hello - Need connecting rods - OM603 - 300SDL
Hello, I'm new to this list. It was suggested I list here for some parts that I need. I acquired a '86 300SDL a few years ago in an inoperable condition. The number 6 connecting rod end-cap came off and busted a couple of holes in the block. Since then, I acquired parts to restore the car and now I'm ready to put everything back together. I've found that the previous builder of the engine in this car used end caps from different connecting rods when putting it together.
