Re: [MBZ] Damn 606 intake manifold
Hello Ned , I agree it's a PITA to have to remove the intake ! My 617s (126 and 123) are a breeze to work on as compared to the 606. My MB tech/mechanic friend who replaced the delivery valve seals showed me that you could start and run the engine with the intake off if diagnosing fuel leaks. The engine did run rough, but it beats assembling and disassembling back and forth. If you do find alternate methods , please share !!! regards, VIK MOMJIAN 1996 E300D 198k miles 1981 300SD 273k miles 1980 300TD 149k miles (needs some top end repairs) ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] 1996 E300D OM606.912 delivery valve diesel leak
Thank You All for the replies ! Unfortunately , the O rings and copper gasket/seals I got from the dealership were not the correct size ! We discovered this after removing one delivery valve (all the way in front of the IP). Now as if this wasn't bad enough, (all local dealership parts depts closed on Saturdays and these are dealer ONLY items) when we put everything back together , the car would not start ! Tried bleeding the lines ,replaced fuel filter (filled with ATF to prime) , NOTHING ! After trying for 3 hours, reversing all the steps and trying again ,draining the battery a few times while cranking ,we finally gave up and decided that I would have the car towed to the dealership he works at on Monday to have him and a diesel expert work on it. Since I got your tips re. torque specs much later , we marked the delivery valve with a notch before removing it and put it back by lining it up with the notch, crude I know , but we were not prepared with the info needed Any suggestions before the dealer takes me to the cleaners on Monday ? ANY HELP WOULd BE MUCH MUCH APPRECIATED Thanking you all in advance, VIK MOMJIAN 1996 E300D 197k miles ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] 1996 E300D OM606.912 delivery valve diesel leak
Jim, since the parts were incorrect, we DID NOT replace them, we just closed everything back up in order to ge the correct parts and start all over again. Thanks for the BOSCH website info. Harry , I would have ordered from Rusty , but my friend the Mercedes mechanic at the dealership got the parts according o the VIN from the dealership parts dep. I guess the guy at the counter messed up ! Thanks again for everyone's input and tips !! Re: [MBZ] 1996 E300D OM606.912 delivery valve diesel leak
Dear Dr. Booth (or anyone on the list with first hand knowledge of 606.912 IPs) I will be changing the rubber seals/O ring and copper(?) gasket from the leaking IP tomorrow morning. A friend of mine who works at the local MB dealer will bring the special socket to loosen the lines. My question is this: when closing everything back up, are there torque specifications, or just tighten with care to not crush the rubber seal/ O ring . My friend has never done this type of repair and he is NOT a diesel mechanic, so he does NOT have the answer. Hoping someone from the list will reply by Sat. late morning pacific time. Re: [MBZ] 1996 W210 E300D Diesel leak
Thanks Ned , I had planned to replace those anyway, but I'm seeing the leak originating from the top of the IP where the metal lines connect. Do any of yours leak from there? How many miles do yours have? Mine has 197200 miles. Thanks again for the response.
