compressor shouldn't be allowed to operate--correct? Anyone know where the low pressure switch and/or relay reside on an '84 300D? Should be right on the receiver/drier. -- Jim

Other links SEEM to work with one browser and not with another. Re: [MBZ] 123 A/C info
On my 79 TD, the LP switch (if I remember right) is down low on the left on the refrigerant pipe, I think there is a fitting there with the referenced device, and a wire(s) coming out of it. I think it traces back to the compressor. It is fairly easy to get at, and to see if it is open/closed with an ohmeter. I recall that testing this device and jumping it was how I determined that my system was actually working and that it was low refrigerant that was keeping it from working (contrary to what the former owner/Benz mech told me). Alas, a gas leak kept it from working for more than a day after I put some more in it. --R Zeitgeist wrote: Thanks Joe! Re: [MBZ] 123 A/C info
Those files are mainly for manual a/c, Casey. I've scanned the wiring diagram from my paper manual for acc2, stripped from list copy, which I think might provide much of what you need. 83.8-603/15. Those things aren't really legible in the cd version anyway. joe -- next part -- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... The compressor should run almost all the time that the engine is running if the climate control is anywhere besides Off or Economy. (assuming there's at least SOME refrigerant in there). so I fixed that, and it now engages. The system maintains a high/low pressure of 75 psi at rest, and 90 psi with the engine running--the same on both sides in each case. Help, I'm an idiot. Hey, ya idjit, close the manifold valves! Did you see the part of my story where the gauge-set hoses weren't coupling well? Now that's a red herring! -- Jim

Ah ha, you are correct. I'll try again tomorrow evening with the valves in the closed position. On 7/2/06, [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Casey, It sounds like you have the valves open on your test gages, and the pressure is equalizing through the manifold. If all the above is totally wrong, and the compressor is turning, it is probably bad.
