One on the column shift, and another that I added for the floor shift. Only one is connected, just like the shifters!) There can't be that many relays to consider, nor are there a multitude of hiding places. If you have a relay, it must be part of that wretched seat belt interlock system. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] For W115 Experts *ONLY*
On my 74, it would start in any gear, but the wiring on that thing was futzed to no end. But check under the shift boot (where the reverse light switch is). Could it be because of the "safety interlock" switch that wouldn't let you start the car without the seatbelt fastened? Most 115's have had this fixed, but some haven't. On my 74, there was a relay under the drivers side of the dash, just to the left of the steering wheel. I pulled the relay and inserted a jumper wire, as I recall. I am also the one that suggested you check the AC/Start relay on the firewall, which as you state is not the problem. Re: [MBZ] For W115 Experts *ONLY*
take a peak under the shift boot. There are two do-hickeys there with buttons. One even has a power connector on it. Up toward the front of the shifter. Follow that wire and it will lead you to nirvana, or maybe jimi hendricks I do not have a functional neutral lock out on Gump, as she allows me to start in any old gear I choose when the transmission is not screwed up by yours truly. clay On 22 Jul 2007, at 17:32, B Dike wrote: > Ok folks, I am losing my sense of humor about the neutral gearshift > interlock on my 74 240D 4-speed. Ok folks, I am losing my sense of humor about the neutral gearshift interlock on my 74 240D 4-speed. It supposedly keeps the driver from starting the car in gear, but now it has failed and the starter can't be engaged by the pullknob. The gearshift position sensor switch is fine, but the confounded relay, wherever it is, is locked open. Anyone who can direct me to the location of the neutral gearshift interlock relay so I can fix or defeat it will be conferred the title of W115 Foremost and Honorable Master Consultant. BTW, it is not one of the relays on the firewall or by the battery, as I confirmed the function of both of these and they serve other purposes and work fine, as well as the starter itself which works fine.
