My wife is actually surprised that I would rather drive my 27 year old MB
than her Infinity.  Mine rides better, and I just plain love the car.  She
would never do well with mine as she is a somewhat aggressive driver who
likes to shoot into the best available lane.  Each of us has a car that
works well for us.  Sounds like yours is just getting broken in good also.

 on in the winter except that the windshield will stay clear.  That's

Couldn't you just run the windshield defroster on hot and get the same 
thing. At least here in Florida mine will run the AC compressor at the 
same time to dry the air and then heat it before blowing it onto the 
windshield. Don't know if the AC compressor gets turned off when it gets 
real cold or not as it doesn't get real cold here.

I'm pretty happy with my car these days, though I'm way over budget for repairs 
after the new transmission, vacuum pump, and new AC air flow activators and 
compressor - re-converted to R12 plus the new GP relay.   I've never used R12 
substitute before, but it works better than 134 in an old car like mine.  This 
morning when I got in my car there was a smell almost like acetone.  It went 
away for the most part when I was driving [sunroof opened a bit] but returned 
every time I parked it.  My nightmare after the 's I put into my baby is an 
evaporator leak.  It is not an option to go without AC here [which is why there 
was no one living in FL until the 1950's when cars got AC...]  I took it to my

The only way I would part with it at this point would be if someone offered 
what I have in it.  That or a 2000+ S500 for my darling wife, which I could

PS.  I'm pretty happy with my car too.  SIL's been driving it lately rather 
than insuring her Rodeo that has noisy lifters and oil leaks.  I would 
rather fix the SD than the Rodeo if it breaks down!

Running the defrost with the compressor on should do the trick.  I'm sure 
that this is what happened to the 300SD.
