Re: [MBZ] Kaleb car rebuild, step 1
I have owned my 66 MGB for over 40 years and am continually amazed by its versatility. When we lived in far western Md where there's always lots of snow, it had great snow manners as long and the snow wasn't more than 6" or so deep. We towed a small sailboat (17') behind it also. Now, if I can finish the restoration and get her back on the road I'll be happy! I'm installing a new wiring harness and it's "interesting" trying to get everything in the right place. I'd never attempt to install a wiring harness in a MB, BTW (MB content) LarryT 91 300D 66 MGB 74 911 OilAnalysis Time? He wouldn't let that fly so I just as quickly took another direction and told him I was actually towing an MG B. That (surprisingly) flew just fine. Reminds me of the time my Camaro spun a bearing 100 miles from home. I tried to rent a dolly to go get it. No soap, 'too far'. The next place they asked what I wanted it for, I told them (the truth) that I was "just taking my Camaro to the engine rebuilders." -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Kaleb car rebuild, step 1
OK, that part I do understand. Seems a lot of effort to swap an engine though before finding out what the damage is on the one in there. However, I do understand. I have a boat in that situation. Loud knock from the lower end and I am guessing it will need the crank and the whole works so I just bought a small block Chevy short block assembly used that should swap in quickly. Will see what the damage is in due course but likely going to be bad. Boat is a bit easier to swap however as once the doghouse is removed, it is pretty much wide open. And, again, you can swap the known good engine you have till a better one comes along.
