Yes I find it very interesting as well. I'm paying for the 12 package. Only
think I can figure maybe is its their top package and maybe there is not a lot
of traffic on my tower/radio and it just runs full throttle until traffic
increased to bring it to the 12. I guess we shall see.

2016-08-01 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
We've got internet only with the introductory price at $39.99. I think it goes
up to $45.99 in a year. I don't want a landline no matter what a "good deal" it
is, paying more for something I don't want is dumb.
Angie has DSL in her office and they're tapping her for $70/mo which includes a
phone line she doesn't use. She's run her whole business off her cell phone for
15 years I don't know why she let them talk her into the landline. Its all
telemarketers anyway...

Re: [MBZ] My new internet speeds

2016-08-01 Thread rogerhga--- via Mercedes
Kaleb,
I hate to tell you this. I live East of Atlanta in the country and I have
Comcast (Xfinity) cable. I only keep them because of the internet speed as
measured on Speedtest.net which is:
download: @ 90 mbps
upload: @ 12-13 mbps
Now, I'm somewhat saddened because my download was running around 98 mbps and
since the scale only goes to 100, I was wondering what would happen if I went
over. My SIL and daughter have Windstream (phone line) and they get maybe 3
mbps download and less than 1 mbps upload to which Windstream says they don't
guarantee the speed they are charging you for. But they still get to charge
you. All of these cable / internet outfits have bought the local politicians
and state public service commissions so you have little chance of getting any
meaningful help.
One other thing that might help as it may be helping me. Years back when I was
getting weak signal, Comcast installed a "signal booster" in my basement. Now a
couple of years ago they replaced the line to my house (I live about 400 feet
off the mainline and all cables are buried) and put a box in, but didn't take
out the signal booster. I don't know that it helps, but it might be worth
trying as I don't think they are that expensive.
Best Wishes,
